Last year without chet they didn't make playoffs, this year they 2nd best record in the league, his impact is obvious
That’s why he should be ROTY but Wemby has put up better numbers so if you’re just looking at box scores, he’s in the lead. I think either of them are deserving. If Wemby gets it, I won’t be mad. He’s been incredible. But I value impact over stats.

Man I wanted my Spurs to tank the year before to get Chet, we ended up with Sochan. If Chet would have gotten hurt like he did and the Spurs got the number 1 pick like we did. Wemby and Chet would have been crazy together on my Spurs.
That hits because as much as people want to lump them together, Wemby and Chet are very different and could be complementary
Tbh the people who think Chet isn’t good obviously don’t watch OKC Thunder games. It’s hilarious how Wemby fans blindly shit on every not named Wemby. It’s like when Lebron fans claiming he’s MVP as a Rookie.😂
Their willingness to just ignore the simple fact that Wemby is shooting an abysmal 46% from the field & 32% from 3 is wild… meanwhile Chet is shooting 54 / 39. If Chet was taking as many shots as wemby, he’d be averaging 25-6 points! Not to mention that wemby is averaging nearly 3.6 turnovers a night, to Chet’s 1.5
These are not slight efficiency differences. It’s night and day.
Wemby is certainly a monstrous presence on defense… but so is Chet.
On offense, if you’re goal is to actually win games, Chet is clearly just. More well rounded rookie. Ultimately, imo, it comes down to the mental/Decision-making department (when to shoot, when to move/pass for a better look, positioning, etc)… thousands of split second decisions… Chet already has “IT”… Wemby shows inconsistent flashes of “IT”
Although, to be fair, Chet has an unfair advantage of spending an extra year studying from the sidelines. But it shows, BIG TIME.
But people, especially on social media and UA-cam comments 🫣, for the most part, just type bird brained, childish one-liners

Gonzaga fan here, you have to understand that Drew Timme was pre-season player of the year going into Chet Holmgren's 1 and done season at Gonzaga. At the start of the season, #1 Gonzaga dominated #5 Texas by just feeding the ball to Timme who scored a career high 37. Chet was a great teammate through that and we're all rooting for him in Spokane and hope his best memories are yet to be earned.

He not only is an excellent scorer and rebounder but he gives them what they desperately needed the most which was a rim protector. It's hard to even quantify how many shots he alters throughout a game and the number of points that adds up to. If you really watch the game and pay attention to the number of shots he changes it's a significant amount. He has completely changed the complexion of the team.

Staying healthy will define chet's career.
Chet is heating up and fully coming into his role at the right time. Everyone says OKC is too young, but this team can make some serious noise in the playoffs if Chet keeps playing like this.

He’s my ROTY and I think he has best player in the league potential. We’ve never seen a center with his blend of shot blocking and shooting. He also plays like a 10 year veteran in his rookie season. The sky is the limit
