Much respect. I can recognize 5 of my friends in there - former school mates in Laucala Campus 1983, Alafua Campus - 1984- 1986 and Tongan community in Perth, Western Australia in 1989 - 1993. Am so proud to see this unique tradition is well and alive in the kingdom of Tonga. Again, with much respect again.

I understand this is in Tonga. What are those things you are wearing and what do they symbolize as a funeral ritual. A bit of some explanation of your culture would be interesting. You seem to be lovely people. Lots of love from Malawi in Africa
It's called a ta'ovala, plain woven mat
Tattered and worn ta'ovala are worn at funerals to represent their grief. They're also worn at all occasions those ones more decorated, fine woven and elaborate
May her soul rest in peace.did not know much about her.good culture.no explanation.
R.I.P Your Majesty
All these for one burial!!! What a culture! Great.
Much respect to Her Royal Highness.A beautiful culture. Can someone explain what is happening here please?

The nima tapu are placing volcanic rocks washed in coconut oil on the queen mother's grave. It is a symbol of status, respect and dignified adornement for the departed.

Wow. Interesting culture. So, what happens the with the rocks and the water mixed? It's nice to know different cultures though.

They mix the very deligent and scents of oil with marble stone and they will lay them on the graveyard top to signifie the departure of their loved ones we use that in fiji and we called it as kilikili or lumu kilikili💕💕
