I went through this last year. I was told in February that I would be unemployed effective 10/31. I showed up everyday, trained my replacement in the country they were moving too without withholding information, encouraged others who was taking it hard and most importantly stayed in my word. I was offered a job 3 weeks before my end date and started that job 2 weeks after 10/31. What most would have thought was a horrible transition turned out to be my biggest blessing. I was able to get my Severance, roll my 401K and get paid out on all my unusued PTO. When I say it was my biggest blessing. I thank God to this day for it all.
I’m U.K. based in London, I love getting redundancy money. I normally go out temping after until I find a new permanent job. I focus on getting my new temp job as soon as I find out I’m being made redundant and absolutely would not train anyone up. No company deserves my time if being made redundant. Perhaps that’s a U.K. grace, but as soon as we know we get to pack up my stuff and leave the same day.
I went through a layoff several years ago. I was devastated. But one week later, I was hired by a different company, doing practically the same work, making $6 more. Things happen for a reason. Keep positive ❤️
I got laid off in May and my husband lost his job in June. When I tell you I felt all that you are feeling but I will tell you this. God will make a way out of no way! I made a choice to give my life to Him. He’s our provider and He provides the resources. Our jobs were just that…resources. He knows what we need and He will provide it. He has blown my mind and I can say that I’m fully reliant on Him. I was mentally stressed at work and He gave me time to rest. I’m not sure where I will end up but His plans are far better than mine. Trust in Him and tell Him you’re weary. He will step in! I’m a witness! ❤

I was moved to comment. So, I am a single mom of two little girls, just became a home owner of a new build just over a year ago and just (last week) went through my lay-off ass well. This is the first one for me and I can say it has been a roller coaster of emotions. I’ve been up and down and realized that though I am staying strong and happy for my kids I am also not “okay”. I will say we got about 9 weeks heads up but still, interviewing and all that while knowing you’re leaving and these bills still have to be paid has been rough. Idk why I wrote but I wanted to let you know we can encourage one another. Thank you so much for sharing. We will get through this together.

He got you! Keep trusting him, when I was unemployed I saved every penny budgeted every dollar! I did the exact same thing and cutting the extra debt payments. Update the resume and plan your days to apply and get a routine to take care of your mental health as well
Appreciated comment. We did the same when we were layed off in 2009. We all need to reset and reasses. God will see you and all of us through anything we face. We must lean on him. Even $1 extra dollar a month above the minimum payment, helps reduce the balance and made us feel like we were still moving forward reducing our debts. Six months of severance pay is a good deal. Even though I’m sure it’s still painful to process, you’re blessed and better off than most who get laid off. You are going to be fine. There is a reason you were let go. We never know why but you are suppose to be somewhere else. Give yourself a few days to think. You are greater then the job! You have to redesign your budget. God won’t let you down.
My husband went through a layoff. He had been with the company over 20 years. They stripped him of so many benefits and they were not truthful. He was 55. We learned a valuable lesson, these companies don’t care about their employees. It is the share holders, the bottom line and the CEO’s big salary. I definitely feel and understand. I too was at a company that promised one thing and did another. I was laid off on the 2nd of this month. Luckily i was saving from the start of getting paid. But i was hoping that i wouldnt have to use the money but luckily i have it. It was a lady that when we found out they were doing another layoff she told me not to worry but God has a plan and you have a degree and this is possibly your reason to go back in your field. And that made me feel much better. So i have applied and i have claimed that position. God got you!

I was laid off a few years ago, and I was walking down the steps of the company on my phone, applying for jobs😂. I had 2 interviews the next day and was hired before a week was up. I had no savings, no money set aside. And God did it. Our God reigns. I'm expecting it to happen again. God will do it.❤
You'll be fine mama stay focused. It was just time for you to move in a different direction sometimes it's not always in our control because we all would be stuck. I walked away from my corporate job last year voluntarily and it has been my best decision ever. It took me being sick to make that decision but I made it with no regret. Granted when I got better fear came but God walked me through all that and I'm now in a much happier place. So stay strong you got this ❤❤❤❤

I loved reading this. Two months after our house was paid off (I was elated) we had to replace our heat pump (for HVAC) and had to spend a year’s worth of mortgage payments. Grateful to be able to pay.

My prayers for you 🙏🏾. I am blessed to be retired for 2 yrs now working a government job for 30 yrs. While working that job, I did go 8 yrs without a raise, and I was a single mom of 2 at the time, but I trusted God and he worked it out. I had a mortgage, car note, etc. and didn't see it, but God. I thank him every day for everything. Just trust, things will work itself out. As I say, let go and let God 🙏🏾

I am going through the same thing. Even though this has happened before, I did not prepare for this one. And, this happened on my anniversary. I had been a little depressed because this is not what I figured for my life at this point. I am 57 years old. But through it all, I know that God has me, and I just need to trust in him and his plan for me. I got my book and I am looking forward to Wednesday night book club.
I was an operations manager in ambulatory clinics for years! (Managing clinical and non-clinical). I have my bachelors in Health Science if that helps. I’ll tell you, that babysitter energy is still the same girl! Ugh! lol I work in healthcare IT now which is chefs kiss. Wherever you end up next, you got this!

I'm sorry that you are having to go through this, it isn't easy being advised that your job is going away - especially if you've been there for many years. It sounds like you are being offered an amazing severance which is such a life saver (plus unemployment) and hopefully that'll give you the breathing room needed to pursue a new direction like HR! I'll be in your shoes at some point myself (I know I'm being laid off, just.. not when. It's been a year so far and we're essentially working month to month) so I look forward to seeing how you approach this new chapter.

I can relate with you. I went through it. The more I tried to be uplifting the less I was feeling it. Finally I prayed and I let it go. I was in the same place as you but two daughters and a granddaughter. When God bring you to it He will bring you through it. I searched for the first two months for a job but it was not my time to go back to work. God took care of me and my family. There was so much He took care of for me. I didn’t work for a full year. God paid my mortgage for 2 years. I still was able to support my daughter 1st year of college and I regained my health from years of stress. God got you if you trust Him and don’t take it back from Him. Give God a praise about the future that is to come 🎉🎉🎉

I just went through this on Thursday. On my way home from working all day, I got a call that my contract had ended. It was hard, I didn't do anything wrong, I just did not fit in there with the people. We have to learn to accept that writing and keep it moving. I'm doing side gigs, along with trying to study to get my license reinstated. It is difficult. I had a lot going on and they knew it but didn't care. That's a business. I'm not mad and wish them all well. On to the next thing. Sometimes we don't even have the time to sulk like we want because of all the things we have going on and need. I was laid off 3 times and each time I had takeaway from each one. Always cut your expenses and save. Get your emergency fund of at least 9 months to a year. One time it took me 9 months bc I couldn’t find a job paying me the salary I was making. I had to work 2 jobs to keep myself on track. It is devastating but you always need to be mindful of how much money you have saved. No matter what anyone says you need to get out of debt. Cut up those cc and don’t live above your means. Today, I am debt free.
I’ve been following you for a while now but rarely comment. I believe God has a greater plan for you and that’s why you’ve been on this budgeting journey/debt payoff. You’ve gone through other challenges this year that you’ve shared and yet you have been faithful. These have been tests of your faith and you haven’t failed. Even $1 extra dollar a month above the minimum payment, helps reduce the balance and made us feel like we were still moving forward reducing our debts. Same with savings, to put back $2.00 minumum is a positive psychological boost.

My husband went through a layoff. He had been with the company over 20 years. They stripped him of so many benefits and they were not truthful. He was 55. We learned a valuable lesson, these companies don’t care about their employees. It is the share holders, the bottom line and the CEO’s big salary. Now with our economy , there are so many companies closing and layoffs. Hopefully we will have a positive change in Jan. To get our country turned around.😮😮😮😮😮. Good luck on yours journey.😮😮😮

I definitely feel and understand. I too was at a company that promised one thing and did another. I was laid off on the 2nd of this month. Luckily i was saving from the start of getting paid. But i was hoping that i wouldnt have to use the money but luckily i have it. It was a lady that when we found out they were doing another layoff she told me not to worry but God has a plan and you have a degree and this is possibly your reason to go back in your field. And that made me feel much better. So i have applied and i have claimed that position. God got you!

I was laid off a few years ago, and I was walking down the steps of the company on my phone, applying for jobs😂. I had 2 interviews the next day and was hired before a week was up. I had no savings, no money set aside. And God did it. Our God reigns. I'm expecting it to happen again. God will do it.❤

You'll be fine mama stay focused. It was just time for you to move in a different direction sometimes it's not always in our control because we all would be stuck. I walked away from my corporate job last year voluntarily and it has been my best decision ever. It took me being sick to make that decision but I made it with no regret. Granted when I got better fear came but God walked me through all that and I'm now in a much happier place. So stay strong you got this ❤❤❤❤

I loved reading this. Two months after our house was paid off (I was elated) we had to replace our heat pump (for HVAC) and had to spend a year’s worth of mortgage payments. Grateful to be able to pay.

My prayers for you 🙏🏾. I am blessed to be retired for 2 yrs now working a government job for 30 yrs. While working that job, I did go 8 yrs without a raise, and I was a single mom of 2 at the time, but I trusted God and he worked it out. I had a mortgage, car note, etc. and didn't see it, but God. I thank him every day for everything. Just trust, things will work itself out. As I say, let go and let God 🙏🏾

I am going through the same thing. Even though this has happened before, I did not prepare for this one. And, this happened on my anniversary. I had been a little depressed because this is not what I figured for my life at this point. I am 57 years old. But through it all, I know that God has me, and I just need to trust in him and his plan for me. I got my book and I am looking forward to Wednesday night book club.
I was an operations manager in ambulatory clinics for years! (Managing clinical and non-clinical). I have my bachelors in Health Science if that helps. I’ll tell you, that babysitter energy is still the same girl! Ugh! lol I work in healthcare IT now which is chefs kiss. Wherever you end up next, you got this!

I'm sorry that you are having to go through this, it isn't easy being advised that your job is going away - especially if you've been there for many years. It sounds like you are being offered an amazing severance which is such a life saver (plus unemployment) and hopefully that'll give you the breathing room needed to pursue a new direction like HR! I'll be in your shoes at some point myself (I know I'm being laid off, just.. not when. It's been a year so far and we're essentially working month to month) so I look forward to seeing how you approach this new chapter.

I can relate with you. I went through it. The more I tried to be uplifting the less I was feeling it. Finally I prayed and I let it go. I was in the same place as you but two daughters and a granddaughter. When God bring you to it He will bring you through it. I searched for the first two months for a job but it was not my time to go back to work. God took care of me and my family. There was so much He took care of for me. I didn’t work for a full year. God paid my mortgage for 2 years. I still was able to support my daughter 1st year of college and I regained my health from years of stress. God got you if you trust Him and don’t take it back from Him. Give God a praise about the future that is to come 🎉🎉🎉

I had a young daughter who was only a year old and was stressing about providing. However much like you said our heavenly Father knows the plan and he has never left me yes we walk through the valley of the shadow of death he will not falter us! I am grateful that you have been doing your channel and working the program of budgeting!!!! Maybe this will open a new door for you! I was in this position back in 2011; and I had been doing my profession for 32 years at that time (I was 51 at the time). I gave myself some grace and then asked God for guidance and you wouldn’t believe I went from an office environment to creating my own business of creating memory quilts for a living!!!

Your advice has been instrumental and encouraging while I’ve walked through and stand in being underemployed. I teared up watching this because the market is tough and we know these companies bottoms line is securing the 💰. I just went through this on Thursday. On my way home from working all day, I got a call that my contract had ended. It was hard, I didn't do anything wrong, I just did not fit in there with the people. We have to learn to accept that writing and keep it moving. I'm doing side gigs, along with trying to study to get my license reinstated. It is difficult. I had a lot going on and they knew it but didn't care. That's a business. I'm not mad and wish them all well. On to the next thing. Sometimes we don't even have the time to sulk like we want because of all the things we have going on and need. We're going to make it though. Be encouraged! Praying for you! You got this!

I was laid off 3 times and each time I had takeaway from each one. Always cut your expenses and save. Get your emergency fund of at least 9 months to a year. One time it took me 9 months bc I couldn’t find a job paying me the salary I was making. I had to work 2 jobs to keep myself on track. It is devastating but you always need to be mindful of how much money you have saved. No matter what anyone says you need to get out of debt. Cut up those cc and don’t live above your means. Today, I am debt free.
I’ve learned and still have to remind myself that in order to get more, you have to let go of what you have. GOD GOT YOU.❤
