The Bear from “Bear in the Big Blue House” was apparently written to be a sort of anti-Barney. Bear’s speech mannerism are meant to be more “bearable” for parents of children watching the show.
It was a lot smarter too. If you can stand the interactive moments where they give the audience a moment to answer the characters in their own home n
I loved that show as a kid and was fascinated by how he moved!
@@TahtahmesDiary one of the best costume Muppet after Big Bird!
Bear is also extremely likable
I always preferred Bear over Barney.
Bear was just so lovable, and I always wanted to give him a big hug.
"This show has aged well and it's topics are maybe even more relevant now"
"That's great!"
"It's a satire pointing out all of the problems our society needs to correct"
"And now I'm just disappointed in our progress"
I will NEVER, NEVER forget the day my co-worker walked right up to me and asked: "What was the name of that show with the dinosaur family where the baby dinosaur said 'Not the Mama!' all the time?" I took a long sip of my pumpkin spice (basic thot, that's me), stared him dead in the eye and said: "I'm not trying to sound like a bitch here, but it's Dinosaurs. The name of the show was just...Dinosaurs. That's what it was about."
Shits basic. But it can be treated.
I'm so glad I grew up on Dinosaurs, even if I was too young to pick up on the messages.
That show was creepy
The addition of Dinosaurs, and The Muppet Show to Disney+, along with Earth To Ned and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, show that we Henson fans are truly living in a new golden age.
Why'd you have to bring up Dark Crystal age of resistance 😭💔
We need more than talk shows, we need more stuff like Age of Resistance.
@Hellsa Poppin It's sad Netflix pulled it from their steaming service but be glad Disney Plus has this show now.
I remember having most of the McDonalds toys.
Briefly, I had a baby Sinclair plushie that talked when you pulled a string. It stopped working not too long after I got it. Later, The dog got ahold of it and ripped him to shreds. He hated it soo much...It turned into quite the crime scene.
Mom got me a Mr. Snuffleupagus plushie to replace him, so it was ok.
My girlfriend had the Baby doll too, I saw a home video of her as a child, and he can be glimpsed in a few shots. I had the Fran toy from McDonald's, myself. I bought some of the other happy meal toys on eBay because I'm an adult and that's what adults do, right?
(Snuffy is a nice replacement!)
My boyfriend had the Dinosaur McDonald’s toys, I’m assume he got them online or at a thrift store cuz this show was ahead of his time, he was born in 2002 like me.
Despite that he loves Dinosaurs, it’s his childhood (other than Spider-Man).
@@ColinLooksBack what are your thoughts on the adventures of Dudley the dragon?
Two of my favorite episodes were "Monster Under the Bed" and "Terrible Twos" where they actually parodied The Exorcist. What's even weirder is that as a kid, I actually got most of the references Terrible Twos made to The Exorcist--they even had Baby Sinclair do the iconic/disturbing 360 head turn while saying, "I'm the baby, gotta love me".
I love that bit at the end where this network executive voiced his disgust that “Terrible Twos” was teaching bad parenting advice. Then he was devoured by The Predator.
I remember this one too. Lol.
Yes!
My favorite episode is “changing nature “ it’s a sad ending , but the message is so great and the way it portrays corporate greed feels so realistic to the point that the episode is scary , I think it was the right choice to end the show that way
If I'm honest with myself, "Box fulla puppies" describes, like, 75% of my UA-cam viewing...
I love the play on words they use. I love the episode of when Ethel has a near death experience and how they make fun of tv Evangelicals profit preachers. As a Christian I found that most funny overtime.
Been a fan since 2008, introduced it to my best friend jordie a year ago and he wishes he grew up with this wonderful staple in television history
My favourite episode is the one where the grandma has a class reunion but everyone exept her is already dead
Does anyone remember that ?
Yes that episode is called driving Miss Ethyl
The "Valley of the Roosters" bit always makes me laugh out loud!
The comment I was looking for, one of my absolute favorite episodes.
Yeah, that episode had her reference the Golden Girls (which was so great, because her German voice actor had voiced Sophia Petrillo in that show).
Yeah, that episode is sad and heartfelt, but it’s also one big plot hole. One of the earliest episodes is about the tradition of dinosaurs being tossed into a tarpit once they’ve reached a certain age and become old enough to be a burden to younger dinosaurs. Earl was very happily going to toss Ethyl into the tarpit, as per tradition, but Robbie managed to talk him out of it after a lot of persistence. Ethyl should’ve known all her friends would be dead, but the episode is written as though the tarpit tradition doesn’t exist...no mention of it whatsoever. We’re supposed to think all her friends just died of old age, but it’s unlikely that all the other dinosaurs in Pangea would follow the example of the Sinclairs, who chose not to toss their elderly matriarch into the tarpit.
RIP Jessica Walters rest in peace Frannie
When food gets real old, it can turn mean Garfield was right. It was in a sketch in an episode of Garfield and Friends.
This show had so many reruns on German television... And I always turned it on, no matter how often.
8:30 Okay, adorableness aside, am I the only one who has just... so many questions about the fact golden retrievers canonically exist in the dinosaurs universe? Like, why are there Golden retrievers in dinosaurs? Did the Dino civilisation also domesticate and selectively breed dogs like they did in our timeline to create the golden retrievers breed? Did these retrievers just so happen to evolve similarly to ours independently?? Do they exist alongside pre-historic wolves in this universe??? Why does this bother me more then the fridge creatures?!?
Or maybe they went extinct along with the dinosaurs in the series finale only to be successfully revived unlike them millennia later.
Its... a Cartoon. You Twits.
I wouldn't so much just say that Dinosaurs was just smartly written or sharp. It was downright devious and subversive. Look at the holiday special. It not only harshly parodies typical Christmas specials where all seems lost until a miracle at the end, it gloriously mocks holiday commercialism and hypercapitalism from retailers, but it also subtly shreds romanticized mythos that surrounds certain holidays. No way was the pageant an accurate portrayal of how dinosaurs somehow invented the refrigerator. Why would their be a plug if they didn't know what to do with it? Then there was the Mammal Music episode. Ouch! That said, most fans will say the narrative series finale was a devastating episode, but I low key think that the episode with the endangered species that were also a fine gourmet delicacy was just as ominous. Mainly for the horrific line "but there will always be more, that's what more means."
And yeah. Me and my cousin thought the "Smoo" episode was endlessly hilarious when we were kids.
we wish you a happy fridge day! we wish you a happy fridge day! we wish you a happy fridge day! now and come and buy paint!
I wish There would've been a scene between Roy and earl in the last episode, i mean Roy is his best friend, it would've been nice to see a scene where they subtly say goodbye to one another I mean he was just as important as the family
Omg my favorite show when I was growing up!
I remember seeing reruns of it back on the Disney channel! plus that clip from Barney Live in Radio City Music Hall and Sesame Street is totally the icing on the cake!
I JUST finished binging this series two weeks ago. Its one of my favorites
Of course at the end of that episode he once again received the official name of "BABY" from the new elder.
I would have picked none of these episodes as my top 10, but that's the beauty of this show is that is is SO well-written that everyone loves something different about it
If nuts to war isn’t on here no juice for you
SMOO!!!!!!!!
That shit just creeped me out 😂 so I just avoided it when I was growing up, only one ?
To be honest, I don't remember this show that well. There's only one episode I remember fairly decently, and it's the episode where Earl orders these two little animals for his anniversary with Fran, but it turns out their species is actually endangered and they're the last of their kind. The three things I remember most about this episode were 1.) the animals trying to teach Robbie about depleting resources, but everyone else is too short-sighted and into over-consumption to genuinely consider the idea of running out of resources a possibility, 2.) the two animals have a talk with Earl right before giving them to his boss Richfield and Earl tries to refuse to give them to Richfield, but Richfield tricks him and eats them when Earl leaves (this REALLY left an impression on me and messed me up a bit as a kid), and 3.) the two animals ended up having kids before getting eating, so the species can continue... if only for one more generation, at least. I actually recently re-watched a clip of Richfield tricking Earl, and there's this whole thing about putting your trust in corporations, with Earl's trust in Richfield IMMEDIATELY being revealed to be unfounded and unwise, plus another clip from the series finale where Richfield is SO short-sighted and greedy that he doesn't even care if the world is going to end, because to him, it's a "third quarter problem" and the only problem he wants to have now is what he's going to spend all his money on. I think the most poignant thing about that latter clip was that some people were saying Dinosaurs as "ahead of its time", to which one comment said "Dinosaurs wasn't ahead of it's time, it was firmly a product of it's time. The fact that it's still relevant now goes to show how little things have changed since then." I'm paraphrasing, but that's the basic idea behind what they said, and it's unfortunately true. :(
Here's hoping we DON'T go extinct like the Dinosaurs.
I love this show and the ending is so so eye opening and if it wasn't for you I never would have heard or watched this show!! So thank you Collin!!
I love that more Muppet content is coming to Disney+!
I hope Muppets From Space, Muppets Take Manhattan, & It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie will be next!
Sony still has the rights to MFS and MTM. I didn't get Disney + yet. I don't know if any of the recent Spider-Man films are on there, so unless they get some sort of sharing deal, I don't think they'll be on the service.
NBCUniversal still have the rights to It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.
Childhood favourite
Loved this show so much
Great vid
Agree on the list almost 100%
This video is quite ideal to what I was searching for. Thank you, and well done work on this as well.
The "Happy Plant" episode is my favorite, with "Refrigerator Day" at number 2. I still watch "Refrigerator Day" every holiday season if I can. The "final" (although they made more) episode was good too, especially the news reporter's melancholy monologue at the end.
Always great to see a new collin video
Insightful as always
I still love these guys.
11:38-13:57 That one is actually the only episode of this show I have ever seen, simply because of the figurative and literal punches it throws at Barney.
Y'know, Robbie Sinclair has a surprising amount of fan art out there.
On a somewhat related note, I regret the research that went into making that comment above happen. But hey, I know the website e621 exists now I guess.
Oh God I've seen that too!
The Jim Henson Company retain ownership of the series and its characters, while Disney only handled distribution rights.
My top 10:
1. Changing Nature
2. Nuts to War
3. License to Parent
4. And the Winner Is...
5. The Greatest Story Ever Sold
6. Dirty Dancin'
7. Georgie Must Die
8. Variations on a Theme Park
9. When Food Goes Bad
10. Fran Live
The one I remember is when baby becomes a little monster.
I still can’t believe they ended the show by killing them off. It’s so sad!
Now I learned a valuable lesson
Oddly I always read into "when food goes bad" as delving into war driven PTSD and the repercussions it has on the mind, hear me out, general chow and his crew are all very soldier-like they're getting revenge on their oppressors for being forgotten but also trapped and eaten, like cases where men coming out of Vietnam they feel justified in taking their revenge
I remember the episode they did where Robbie talks to camera not about drugs but anti drugs episodes of tv shows .
I think that was far more effective than actual anti-drug-episodes :)
Did you ever watch Between the lions in your
childhood?
Give us your favorite Muppet Show episodes
The Best Dinosaur Episode for me is the finale.
So dark
Fun fact in the episode "when food goes bad" was the episode when Baby Sinclair has a tooth ache.
I also grew up watching the series on Tuesday nights.
Not the momma smoo - baby Sinclair
Mam I saw a couple of eps of Dinosaurs and man that baby is so annoying, and man the huge puppet outfits and the fact that Jim Henson was behind this was quite fascinating!
It's finally here after 2 years of waiting
Spike episodes 😍😍
I'm from Brazil and ehre the show is well remembered and liked to this day, but i still find verystrange how in USA is not the case
Disney had some edge back then.
The original stewie and Bart
If Dinosaurs got a remake, it would have a much higher budget and velociraptors would be included.
Still love this & watch it & I’m 26 Earl & baby Sinclair are my favorites
I was watching this show A couple days ago what a Coincidence
“Not a great reflection on us” huh?!?! 😂 dinosaurs smarter than people? 🤔
(GASP) PUPPIES!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 8:32
NOT THE MAMA
I didn't watch this much. In fact the only one I really remember is the cautionary episode on the dangers of steroid usage.
I remember there was a time when on UA-cam, the only Dinosaurs vids you could find was the steroids episode and a clip of Baby biting his tail or something.
Here's mine: (No order)
1. Georgie Must Die!
2. License to Parent
3. The Last Temptation of Ethyl
4. And the winner is...
5. Wesayso Knows Best
6. Network Genius
7. Honey, I Miss the Kids
8. If I Were a Tree
9. The Son Also Rises
10. Unmarried...With Children
is it weird that i had a crush on monica?
Im still afraid of them 13 years later
Sweden's kids shows wasn't so strong, watched the exact same things the kids in the 90's did.
Grew up with programs from the 1990's - 2005's
Good thing this series is now on Disney +
Why did you skip Ethyl in the intro?
I'm really looking forward to watching Baby Sinclair knock Grogu off his hoverthrone.
I know golden retrievers and other modern dogs didn’t exist in the Stone Age. But dogs did appear in the Ice Age.
Hi by any chance does anyone know what happened to the puppets, animatronics and or sets from Dimosaurs?
I had the whole family in toy figures and the baby plush pull string doll
Georgie has Baloney The Dinosaur's colors
I think it was more my age and timing than any fault of the show, but, I really think Baby Sinclair was my young mind's first awareness of over-saturation in media Baby had toys, dolls, clothing line, etc, and I don;t remember before that ever getting soured on a character by seeing them everywhere.
for me my top 10 are
10. Out of the frying pan
9. The son also rises
8. And the winner is
7. Wilderness weekend
6. The greatest story ever sold,
5. Network Genius
4. Nuts to War
3. Fran Live
2. Terrible Twos
1. Changing Nature
I like the episode about two creatures that are the last of their kind . I don't know what it's called .
"Endangered Species"
The Muppet Show Is Coming To Disney Plus On February 19th 2021
My favorite episode is “ the terrible two’s”.
Make another top 10 about dinosaurs
The one about the TV networks is great. And it is 100% truth about the networks being the tool used to justify this society.
I love the song I'M the baby.
Wow I didn't know the dinosaurs had a song album.
I have an idea for a revival of this
My favorite dinosaurs episodes are terrible 2’s which I think is a parody of the exorcist
And monster under the bed
To be honest with the last episode act I didn’t gonna make any comparisons to South Park I’m in South Park has done the message to parents refusing to take responsibility twice hell that was the point of the movie
"And taking a look at the long range forecast, continued snow, darkness, and extreme cold. This is Howard Handupme. Goodnight.
Goodbye."
You should've chosen the episode with Baby's song
Georgie Must Die is also my favorite episode while the one episode that I don't like is The Clip Show.
The Steroids episode and The Monster Under The Bed Episode. top 2 for me.
1:59 (What 'Sexual Harris' Meant)
Booby Bunny? 🤣
Everyone! Simpsons or Dinosaurs?
WHO SAY SO
WESAYSO
The 3 cabelleros
My favorite episode is switched at birth mostly because with the new baby
Honey I home- eirl
Is smoo really a bad word?
No
@@georgerobertson7010 Well, smoo may NOT be dirty to us, but it's dirty to dinosaurs. L.O.L
Not all dinosaurs were carnivores. Stegasaurus, Triceratops and Brontasaurus were all plant eaters.
True Some Dinosaurs Are Carnivores Some Are Herbivores And Some Are Omnivores
Artistic license ;)
@@loganmosher5935 insectivores and fish eating too.
Did hippos exist in the Stone Age?
Wikipedia says Georgie is supposed to be this species of hippo, which existed during the Stone Age: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotamus_antiquus
@Leroy Brown True but none of these shows are historically accurate. Dinosaurs and The Flintstones have dinosaurs and humans co-existing and calling it the Stone Age LOL.
@Leroy Brown Ah I see what you did there!
I had a (now ex) boyfriend who loves Dinosaurs (the show). 😊
How do you make it so boring
That’s rude, show some respect
