Sometimes after turning on the UVB light for my crested gecko, she will crawl out of her coconut and climb on top of it to get close to the light. It was weird at first, because it seemed unnatural for a nocturnal animal. Maybe sometimes she wants the UVB? It’s worth getting one, since maybe they still come into contact with UVB rays while they sleep in the wild.
That's the only thing that makes me a little sad being a huge frog keeper - half the time I have a pet tank of dirt and plants. So I just go to a lot of effort to make the tanks overly pretty so when I go through periods of disappearing pets - at least I have pretty plants. NOW GET OUT HERE TREE FROGS AND LET ME STARE AT YOU.
Also I use bioactive on my beardie. I've always fed him on plates/bowls anyway, so its not a huge deal. He's elderly (12) and I noticed he has a much easier time walking on the bioactive than he did on the slate.
I also adopted a mutt :) she’s a German Shepard, chow, Staffordshire terrier, etc. mix. But she’s only about 2 feet tall! She came from a dog hoarder and lived in a cage for the first year of her life, she was scared of doorways because she never went through them on her own. It took almost a week before she’d even walk on her own because she was so scared, and someone else had already returned her to the pound because of that problem. Now she’s a wonderful, playful little 2 year old dog, but she’s scared of men for unknown reasons
Katelyn Wow!!! This makes me so unbelievably happy. Thank you so much for taking her in despite all of her issues and giving her a happy life. It’s so beautiful. And she sounds so stunning! If my channel weren’t about reptiles, I think it would be about dogs 😂

The Retic - depends on her mood - either she loves me or she’s striking hahha

I've been doing a lot of of reptile research for a few months now, and I got my first reptile, a crested gecko, a couple weeks ago. I'm very interested in bearded dragons and have been doing a fair amount of research on them, but this is the first I've heard of those traits being problematic for the health/well-being of the dragon. I'll definitely look into that more. I love your videos, a couple of your crestie videos helped me decide to get mine! Also, your reptile room is such good vibes, if I had a room like that I would never leave lol

Great video, love! Always enjoy hearing people's opinions in the hobby. My new retic arrived today, he is a lavender albino and absolutely stunning! He may be my favorite- don't tell my Brazilian rainbow boa! I have two entire rooms dedicated to him as he grows. Edit: My bluie Ramses LOVES basking, UVB is a must for him. Coconut fiber and soil-like substrates was too moist for him; paper bedding is what I've found works best for his sensitive skin.

Sorry the mascot one was mine. And what I mean was to use a reptile as a mascot for a business or something since my bearded dragon is the mascot to my cosplay page on Facebook. Sorry I wasn’t more clear. And yes a reptile as a mascot for a football game would be cool lol
Great video! I do believe that Ball Pythons need a bit of a smaller enclosure...at least for mine I bought a 4 ft Animal Plastics enclosure for my girl when she got to about 4 ft and she seemed stress, even though I put many places for her to hide inside of it. I then bought a 3 ft. Boaphile enclosure for her and she loves it. She started eating again and was not cruising around as much, so I believe that means she is less stressed. I did find it easier to control her temps and humidity as well with a smaller enclosure. Kind of a bummer that the Animal Plastics cage did not work, but I sold it and did not take too much of a financial blow.
Nice. Always great hearing a 2nd opinion on different topics, and it's cool that you and I seem to vibe on the same wavelength. If you ever want to hang and chat about colubrids, I am getting into bullsnakes and have 3 of them at the moment. Also have a Cali king who is just the sweetest boy. Have you tried the Arcadia heat projector yet?? I just got one for my super giant leopard gecko and he seems to be doing great. I hate heat mats and love the new option so much
Marisa Fox I have to use paper towel because mine is literally the worst hunter of all time and only eats live. I have to remove everything from the enclosure for him to eat too. 😅
Reptilian Garden that sounds so extra 😂 I’m so glad Kaiser doesn’t do that. do you know of any other substrates that are visually appealing?? I was using coconut fiber because I’ve heard from different sources that it’s alright and my snake doesn’t ingest much of it when feeding. After hearing your video (especially about possible underlying problems) want to make a switch but I’m not sure what to switch to yet. Any hard substrate do you think??
Not everyone has great experiences with adopting like you. There are some terrible shelters out there too. Also it is very good for people to be picky about what breeds they want as the dog should fit the person very well. I personally would rather support a good breeder who isnt breeding for money or looks because they put tons of research, time, money and effort into bettering the breed. People aren't only getting dogs for companionship and even if you do, getting a dog from the shelter isn't necessarily going to be the best option for you. A breeder of a dog who is bred for companionship like small breeds or certain other dogs is going to be a much better bet than a random shelter dog who might have health issues and much more commonly behavior issues. Not trying to say all rescues or mutts are horrible, I have a mutt and I love her to pieces. I think going with a reputable breeder also shows the owner has done at least some research vs just picking up a dog at the shelter.

People says ball python need smaller enclosure because they put nothing in ball pythons' enclosure, putting ball python in a hallow large enclosure is not good. However, they do well if there are enough hides and a lot of enrichment. My experience is I keep most of my ball pythons in tubs with only water bowl and hide, but one of my big leucistic girl is too large for snake racks so I put her in a vision cage with decorations she does fine and even climb on branch to bask, also I might get a clutch of eggs from her this year.
