Have you ever traveled through Chester County with your Digital P25 Phase II Scanner in your vehicle ? Well tell me how it sounded and if you actually heard anything while listening to the P25 Harris System. I know from experience you can monitor it in the city of Coatesville and in the borough of Parkesburg....But elsewhere?
First thing, I hope you’re still alive and doing well. I just got a G5, other than having no idea how to program it, it does awesome. Would 100% recommend this over a scanner
I plan on buying one of these my Uniden 436 just isn't cutting it at my house. In my car it comes in fine when im traveling around my county. These are on sale now as well. These are built commercial grade and are built better than a scanner. I've heard nothing but great things about these.
Hey Jerry long time no video...I had the 436 for a while I was having alot of drops. I was actually researching going g4/g5 route but now that the sds100 came out im waiting until August. Also it's not that the officer speaking low on the Harris handheld they have some voice equalization feature that makes them sound low. Its hit or miss on what the officer has the radio set to.
You know Jerry I wish I had the money to get one of those G4 pagers because I feel the same way about scanning I have a 325 P2 scanner and I don't like it at all there's a lot of simulcast Distortion no matter what threshold I put it at it still doesn't help and keeps missing lots of Transmissions because of it it almost sounds like a one-way transmission at times so maybe I am better off one day getting the pager that you have and this is the reason why I'm getting rid of the scanner I have because it's total junk when it comes to listening to anything p25 trunking it's almost always guaranteed never to work as well as the robust function of a nice front end receiver unit such as the G4 and G5 unit the money I get from selling my scanner hopefully will cover part of the cost for a G4
Jerry, You mentioned about the programming of the radio at the end of your video. Where does one get all this information that is needed to do the programming. I'm sure there is programming software to assist one is this project. But is all this information on Radioreference .com or what? Also, not only is Chester County PA of interest to me, but also Montgomery County, PA. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mark Griffin, KB3Z
If your scanners weren’t capable of picking up your local law and fire frequencies then there was the uniden sds 100 to say that the g4 or g5 we’re the only options out there isn’t true now it’s your choice to buy whatever you want yes the sds 100 does the best if your area has simulcast and is a True scanner with lots of customization and features but whatever works for you is what matters
Phil Bradley that’s fine if you want fire dispatch with tone-out you will need the G5 700/800MHz P25 Phase 2 TDMA with VHF 136/174MHz if not just go with the G4 and that’s just 700/800MHz P25 Phase 2 TDMA like the one I have.

Just FYI: if you live in Chester County pa get the G4 or G5 don’t waste you money on a Digital Scanner “ if you want to hear what’s going on throughout the County while using it in your vehicle go with the G4 or G5. A scanner just won’t do the job and it depends on where you live, have the scanner and antenna positioned, the P25 Threshold and error rate numbers you have to take all this into consideration...GOOD LUCK.

Mark Griffin I’m very doubtful that you will be able to hear Chester County Being so far outside the county but Montco will be fine to listen to
That’s an sma antenna. Also, have you ever tried listening to the same system with a Whistler TRX-1 or 2?

A Scanner doesn't work well for Chester County only because it is a Harris System.
