My mom arrived in the US from Japan in 1954, having married Dad, an American soldier, in 1952. She earned her citizenship in 1959, as soon as she was eligible. Much as she loved her birth cou, when she took her oath, she was absolutely, utterly committed to her adopted homeland. Immigrants have this almost religious zeal, which she imbued in me throughout the remainder of her life.

Well marches in support of Maduro were taking place all across Venezuela today, if they tried again there they would have been mobbed by thousands and the police/army wouldnt have tried to protect them. If you want venezuelans to stop migrating to the US, then just stop the sanctions against Venezuela, it has the resources to be the fastest growing gdp in South America. You have every reason to do so, even if you dont like Maduro and think the socialist government would fail, at least if you quit the sanctions against Venezuela, you get a win win, either the economy recovers and people dont feel the need to migrate, or it still gets worse but Maduro doesnt get to use the US as an excuse, what does the US have to lose?

It's just about enough. To all us politicians, let's go get this dictator out of the government and let the newly elected government take power. Then maybe we can let some of the people who want to go back and rebuild their country do so I mean he's not a powerful man. He's only tough because he's fighting civilians with no weapons.
Venezuela is really ready. So let's support the population.

I never understood why they don’t protest against US sanctions to begin with. Seriously, how did Venezuela get to this point if not for being cut off from the rest of the world. I don’t see the US putting sanctions on Saudi that violates human rights on the daily. I’m not in favor of Maduro, but it’s obvious what’s really at stake here - black gold. Let the people decide (and fight) for their own leaders without drowning them in sanctions. I’m sorry this has US intervention written all over it. Again.
