In this lecture, astronomer and Director of the Griffith Observatory, Dr. E.C. Krupp, explores parallels between ancients engagements of the sky, such as prehistoric Ireland's Newgrange and Abu Simbel in upper Egypt, and the installations by James Turrell, particularly Roden Crater and Agua de Luz at Cenote Santa María in Merida, Mexico.
Presented in conjunction with James Turrell, on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, June 21--September 25, 2013.

Turrell is brilliant. This lecture, however, was beyond torturous.
