Explanation for all those who don't know why the Proxy and the Envy feel so similar: they have the same mold for the inner part, the only difference is the outer rim mold.
I’ve heard the Atom from MVP also has the same core as Envy/Proxy and it feels very similar to both. Flight is right in between the two, great all-around putter. MVP/Axiom has a bunch of molds that share flight plates so you can carry many different molds that all feel similar in hand.
Your factual criticism was incredibly helpful. You made really good points that were not just, “meh not feeling it…” but actual reasons why it doesn’t work as well for you as Simon. Super helpful.
I'm glad to hear a pro say this. I've loved throwing the Envy and struggled with the Proxy, because I feel like there's much more room for error coming out on a hyzer angle vs going straight at a basket. I thought it might be a weakness I needed to overcome - but if it's a weakness Drew Gibson can live with, I can live with it too.
I prefer the envy since you can throw it on hyzer, anhyzer, flat and for me I can get all the flights I need. I like the soft electron envy for a floppy putter. Makes it easy to cycle putting putters into hyzer flip throwers
I enjoy flat releasing discs as often as I can, so for me the proxy/envy combo is near perfect! Envy will always finish left, and proxy will very slowly drift right, but never really turn over on me. You can also power down a bit for that dead straight flight. Beautiful frisbees!
Right now I have discmania Links for my putting putters. But they honestly throw really well too. Then my goto approach disc is the star Aviar3. And I have a Glitch and glo Proxy and Envy. All good to stack up and warm up in the field.
So, Envy and Proxy share the same core, thats why they feel the same. They just adjust the overmold to adjust the flight. Lots of the MVP lineup works this way. most of the 9 speed line up all share the same core. Just a different overmold is put on it to adjust the flight. This is the beauty of the MVP system nobody talks about. You can have a bag full of discs that have identical handfeels because the core is the same, but different flights.
I agree with you. I don't like putting with premium plastic most of the time, but i do like throwing premium putters because i feel like i can get em to flip a little more but they hold the stability on the finish better. That all could just be in my head though. lol
i have been throwing the Envy for about 6 months now. i bought the JC Electron Firm Plastic and i also throw the Proton Plastic Envy. my go to ”utility disc” if i had to pick 1 for any particular hole, definitely my JC Envy. i have been using the Proxy for strickly putting and it works well for my putting style.
I use two approach putters: Envy and Ruin. Emvy because of it under-stability and it can go straight; the ruin because it’s over stable and I use it for chip shots-forehand only- around obstacles
I love the Watt the most. I have multiple Envy's in my big bag, a couple watts and a proxy. Almost always grab the Watt over the proxy. I prefer hyzer to flat in most my backhand releases for shots.
love the proxy!! my favorite throwing putter. i have an eclipse and a soft neutron. they are great for dead straight shots and also just hold whatever line you put it on. the eclipse is great if you need a little extra cut at the end. the soft neutron doesnt really much at all
I bag both in the total eclipse special editions, the otb envy and the se flower proxy, both work so well for each category, the envy consistently fades, you can get it on anny, but the proxy goes laser straight even as it falls, it's fantastic and can also easily go right for you
I agree with the point of the envy and proxy feeling very similar. From what I understand they use the same mold top, with different bottoms. I cycle beat up envys and fresh proxies in and out of my bag regularly, and unless I hold them immediately after one another I can't tell there is a difference.
I like to release on a flattish angle and throw the envy and proxy. The envy and proxy are the perfect discs to throw flattish because they season to fill the dependable fade to dependable turn slot in throwing putters.
I've thrown the proxy for a few years and it is my favorite because of it's gentle fade and durability. The way I throw, a point and shoot putter covers all three shots. Control the angle of release, throw 50 mph and this disc will go left, straight, or right reliably. My favorite shot with my neutron soft is the high anny.
for throwing i use the Plasma Envy, reason for that mold and plastic is that it goes dead straight with a tiny bit of finnish on it, witch makes me able to manipulate the disc however i want, anhyzer, hyzer, straight, forehand or backhand no matter what it does it all. Thats what i think, i have not tried the proxy and hear good things about it, so maby ill try it ;) Havent tried the watt eather, so maby i need to try that too
There are currently two very different holes on my regular course that I'm trying to drive with a -3/1 star mirage. One is a hyzerflip to a fade down a slope. The other is a turnover with some early garbage to avoid. Both are fun shots to throw.
I also tend to release with a bit of hyzer and for that reason I prefer the firm Electron Proxy over any of the premium plastic versions I've thrown. The Electron gives that little bit extra instability resulting in easier hyzer flips or drifting to the right shots. At the moment, I'm using a Pa3/Glitch/Electron Proxy to cover my throwing putter slots.
I like to always release my putters flat. I throw beat up aviar for turn overs. P1/P2 for straight, and Tactic to get a nice fade. This video makes me want to explore throwing putters on different angles and see what then happens to my disc selections. Thanks Hugh.
I actually love premium plastic for putting. Maybe that's weird. I putt with a plasma Nomad and soft proton Ohm. I used to putt with base plastic emac truths and an electron Nomad. I find I get cleaner releases with the premium plastics for some reason...
Awesome sauce. Love my proxy. Hit chains on a 200ft downhill shot a few weeks back. I like to throw my throwing putters flat or on hyzer. All my envy discs fly very true to numbers. Same with Watt and Proxy. All three are amazing discs and do what they were built to do very well. I find the watt has almost no fade and will continue to slowly turn. Not much but just enough. Proxy has a tiny touch of fade at the end of flight. Envy has the most fade especially in glow plastic.
Love my proxy in Eclipse 2.0 soft plastic. I like it as a dead straight throwing putter as well putting with it. It is a premium plastic but i cant argue with how gummy it is; its great for grip. Thanks for the great video as always.
I like a glidey putter with plenty of high speed stability and only a tiny fade. The Streamline Neutron Pilot is my favorite. It starts out nearly as overstable as an Envy, and over the course of several months to years beats into straight and then understable. The Proxy in this video flies like a Neutron Pilot after about a year or more of throwing.
The soft neutron proxy seems to be the most stable. Try an all glow one or a fission. Or honestly any other plastic to soft neutron and you’ll probably notice some turn instead of being dead straight.
My favorite throwing putter is the infinite discs tomb, feels similar to a PA3 you can really power into it and it flies straight and then always has a small reliable fade. If I need something slightly understable I throw the L64 pure.
I don’t hit my angles as aggressive. Either throwing with slight hyzers or slight anhyzer. I bag 3 Pa3s a understable one that will flip and ride right a straight one that I can rip into and push straight, and a glow more stable one that can be thrown on any angle for any shape within that button distance (for me anything under 325ish)
I bet you'd like the mvp entropy. It has the same feel as the watt but flies like a beefier zone. My favorite throwing putter is the envy. I can throw any line with it, and can get some distance .
I like to throw flat for the putters so I throw a DGA breaker (pretty similar flight to the envy). The profile matches my big bead aviars, but the breaker will fly strait from 55% to 90% power and never turn over.
I've bagged an Eclipse Proxy and Eclipse Envy for over a year. I love both bc they feel almost identical but fly very differently. Need to try the neutron soft now
I just recently picked up a proxy and im more of a hyzer flip guy myself. It is a straight shooter but ive found as long as you over exaggerate the throw you can get it to do what you want
Drew, the Proxy is my favorite throwing putter. I have the premium neutron version, but my favorite is my electron soft. It is nice and tacky. Beats in pretty quick.
I throw the dead straight approach and just picked up a proxy and big Z Luna. Really digging the Luna. Straightest putter ive ever thrown. Proxy is a little bit stable. I'm still figuring them out though
I love the pace after getting it in the first ever finish line challenge in Charlotte I ended up using it primarily to play most of Renske for that event. I have been liking a premium pilot for a throwing putter. And yeah Hugh and the blue collar frisbee club is hilarious
I'm in your camp Drew. I prefer an understable putter that I can flip up. I get the straight flight I want by flipping it up, and I can also use it for shorter, (200 ft.) Turnover shots. If I really want to I can put it on more of a hyzer and have it hold that line a bit. That putter for me is the K3 Reko. I could never get the Proxy to do that for me.
I like MVP Atom… it is so flat and thin. Rather neutral that gets little understable when it wears down. Easy to small fore throws and straight backhands.
I love the proxy. I bag two of them. One is more beat in and one is still fresh but I do think the envy has a spot as well. My only envy is a glow. But it could slowly replace one of my proxy’s
That is the single coolest looking Proxy I've ever seen. I'm a flat thrower, so I actually bag 2 proxys minimum every round. If it's a putter round, I have 4.
I have the old run of neutron soft proxy's before they retooled them a year or two ago and mine does drift to the right as opposed to the current new run of proxy's that I also throw and it's a little more overstable than the previous version and I think it because the newer version isn't actually as soft as the previous run when they decided to retool it, but I do love both.
Proxy is a staple in my bag. After beating it in for me its dead straight. I really use it for those narrow shots that really need that point in shoot. I also use an envy, Tempo ( MVP Zone type ) and an entropy ( very very overstable putter approach).
The envy is my favorite throwing putter and I prefer to release flat. The proxy for me, is a flippy envy. I love it but I prefer the over stability of the envy which makes it a little more trustworthy.
Soft Proxy has been my workhorse for about 3 years now maybe. The electron soft is so sweet for that flip up and ride shot. Kinda hate that its so popular now but its a great disc so i get it.
Plasma proxy is by far my favorite throwing putter/ favorite disc of all time to throw, period. I love that thing. Plus it's damn gorgeous lol Keep it up bro your slaying it, much love from a fellow Drew peace
I love the Envy for my over stable putt from within 125 feet (harp for anything over that), and the Watt is just a gap hitting machine. But the hand feel of the proxy is just a little off for me.
If I have the choice in a wide open field for an approach shot I like using an overstable approach disc like a Pig. I’ve never been good with straight shots
I throw flat and straight. I'm playing with the Watt and a Fission Proxy trying to decide who will be the primary putter. I may reserve the Proxy for longer tee shots and use the Watt for shorter ones or upshots.
I did enjoy the Proxy for the slight hyzerflip laserbeam shot, but at some point I think I just figured it wasn't as glidey and wind resistant as I wanted, so I went on to try out Atoms, beat in Envies and Nomads... Envy is nice and reliable, but the flight is so midrange-like, I'll rather just throw a midrange instead and get a bit of extra torque resistance as a bonus. Now I actually throw the Berg for almost all my putter shots, it's a great disc for a dummy like me 😂 Fission Envy is money in the 150g range btw. It's the wobbly thrower's Glitch. I pull it out sometimes when I absolutely need a 95m+ putter shot.
I have several throwing putters, just depends on the shot shape, have a c line p2 for longer putter shots like 280-310. Have ruin for forehand approach shots, nova which is my second favorite approach disc gets little ground play and flys where you throw it. You’ve seen me throw novas, plus tgey tell you what you’re doing wrong with your release while warming up. Than my cheater disc. An old beat up d line p2. 50% power hyzer release it will flip flat fly straight then drift right at the end of its flight. And long putts 60-90’
I have 3 putters in the bag but only throw 2 of them. The P2 and a beat to heck soft luna! I am like you I like to throw on hyzer. I have a color glow p1 but I very rarely throw it!
I like this man. Showing aspects of the rnd of developing a disc lineup can be cool. There are some molds that are under utilized in other lineups that you may be able to enhance to perform the way you expect it to as oposed to how it actualy fly's. Fixing molds can deffenetly be a niche. Just a sugestion. Loving the content bro. Keep it coming.
I have both a backhand and a forehand, but the only hyzer I can reliably throw is a full power backhand. Anything other than full power and I have release point issues with hyzers, especially forehand hyzers. Anhyzer approach shots either forehand or backhand are by far the best shot I have in my bag. My best game ever is around 920-950 rated and my average is around 890. I probably have the approach game of a 1020 rated player, but my max golf distance is only around 350 and my field work distance is around 400 but I rarely reach that. My putting is probably pretty solid for my rating, but not spectacular. So to truly give input on your question.... I use a k1 soft berg for anything under 180 and play courses to set up that anhyzer approach either forehand or backhand. I also putt with it. Oh... even on completely open courses, I will typically throw slight anny lines on approach even when I don't have to. I'm just more accurate with them and very seldom wind up outside of 15-20ft on my approaches.
I've really been liking Drew's content lately.
He’s got nothing on Hugh Frisbin

Arguably it would be the outer part that has the biggest effect on how it feels
@@ReluctantAardvarkI would agree but I would also add that how your fingers curl around the rim to secure your grip plays a big role in how it feels.
Your factual criticism was incredibly helpful. You made really good points that were not just, “meh not feeling it…” but actual reasons why it doesn’t work as well for you as Simon. Super helpful.
Envy is my go to throwing putter. Your vlogs have taken a step up the past couple of weeks.
Envy is the only putter I've aced with
I'm glad to hear a pro say this. I thought it might be a weakness I needed to overcome - but if it's a weakness Drew Gibson can live with, I can live with it too.
Slight Hyzer on putters is my go to. The halo invader is my favorite, such a versatile throwing putter!
i throw the pilot glow (have one in reserve, because they don't make them anymore) really good on hyzer, flat and anhyzer;)
I prefer the envy since you can throw it on hyzer, anhyzer, flat and for me I can get all the flights I need. I like the soft electron envy for a floppy putter. Makes it easy to cycle putting putters into hyzer flip throwers

I love the TSA Praxis, just crazy controllable, torque resistant enough but usable turn once even a little beat in. Love it
I use two approach putters: Envy and Ruin. Emvy because of it under-stability and it can go straight; the ruin because it’s over stable and I use it for chip shots-forehand only- around obstacles

Control the angle of release, throw 50 mph and this disc will go left, straight, or right reliably. My favorite shot with my neutron soft is the high anny.
Drew's truck is like the Thomas Gilbert of vehicles. It sneaks into the background of every video.
Right. I've been really enjoying yours & Simon's content. Top notch stuff. Keep it up guys.
I like the putter flip to flat w the Eric Oakly moonshine Warden. Its goes so far!!
for throwing i use the Plasma Envy, reason for that mold and plastic is that it goes dead straight with a tiny bit of finnish on it, witch makes me able to manipulate the disc however i want, anhyzer, hyzer, straight, forehand or backhand no matter what it does it all.

Havent tried the watt eather, so maby i need to try that too
I bag the Proxy and putt with it as well. I prefer the eclipse glow plastic on flat to slight hyzer.
Drew’s content is getting really good
OTB Open Soft Proxy - best disc made in 2023
There are currently two very different holes on my regular course that I'm trying to drive with a -3/1 star mirage. One is a hyzerflip to a fade down a slope. The other is a turnover with some early garbage to avoid. Both are fun shots to throw.
3:23 Drew is a huge disc nerd actually
I love my beat up throwing Penrose. Gotten so straight now it will shape any direction I pick.
Throwing putters that I love are Stablizer from Streamline and the K3 Hard Berg. I throw them flat to anhyzer mostly
I also tend to release with a bit of hyzer and for that reason I prefer the firm Electron Proxy over any of the premium plastic versions I've thrown. The Electron gives that little bit extra instability resulting in easier hyzer flips or drifting to the right shots. I like to throw flat. Im really digging the Thought Space Praxis. I also like to throw the Judge flat. Praxis is for longer shots or off the tee.
I bag a Proxy and an Envy. I love the Proxy for straight shots and the Envy for that nice fade-finish! GREAT CONTENT DREW!! DREW IS GOOD!!’
I like to always release my putters flat. I throw beat up aviar for turn overs. P1/P2 for straight, and Tactic to get a nice fade. This video makes me want to explore throwing putters on different angles and see what then happens to my disc selections. Thanks Hugh.

The jokeri has been my go to stable to overstable throwing putter, but also the p model us in duraflex glow is the straight putter.

It starts out nearly as overstable as an Envy, and over the course of several months to years beats into straight and then understable. The soft neutron proxy seems to be the most stable. Try an all glow one or a fission. Or honestly any other plastic to soft neutron and you’ll probably notice some turn instead of being dead straight.
I release on slight hyzer. That’s why I love the RPM Tui. Almost the same numbers as a Proxy.
3/4/-1/.5
My favorite throwing putter is the infinite discs tomb, feels similar to a PA3 you can really power into it and it flies straight and then always has a small reliable fade. If I need something slightly understable I throw the L64 pure.

My natural angle is straight to tiny hyzer and for my putter setup I use neutron stabilizer, full eclipse envy, full eclipse proxy and electron proxy
I bet you'd like the mvp entropy. It has the same feel as the watt but flies like a beefier zone.
My favorite throwing putter is the envy. I can throw any line with it, and can get some distance .
Diggin' the hat. LIGHT THE BEAM!
I like to throw flat for the putters so I throw a DGA breaker (pretty similar flight to the envy). The profile matches my big bead aviars, but the breaker will fly strait from 55% to 90% power and never turn over.

Shoutout to the Sacramento Kings hat! Hell yeah!

I want to see you on different courses in your videos. I like your straight to it insights.
I like slight hyzer or slight anhyzer so I throw a ti chally ss or soft electron envy for flip ups and a fission envy for fight out anhyzer throws
I've found that my favorite throwing putters, are my putting putters after they beat in. I prefer hyzer and love the hyzer flip.

The envy is my favorite throwing putter and I prefer to release flat. The proxy for me, is a flippy envy. I love it but I prefer the over stability of the envy which makes it a little more trustworthy.
I love throwing hyzer flips that end dead straight for up to 200ft.. The LSD Penny Putter in victor plastic < 170g does just that. 👍
I've thrown both (Envy and Proxy) and my beat in Envy is my go to.
I love the Envy for my over stable putt from within 125 feet (harp for anything over that), and the Watt is just a gap hitting machine. But the hand feel of the proxy is just a little off for me.
I bag Fission Proxy and Prism Plasma Envy. I putt with Neutron Watts. 😜 I do wish I could try some soft Electron Watts if they would ever come out.
If I have the choice in a wide open field for an approach shot I like using an overstable approach disc like a Pig. I’ve never been good with straight shots
Hyzer release for life. The pure is my favorite so far. Haven’t tried many other understable putters.
I throw flat and straight. I'm playing with the Watt and a Fission Proxy trying to decide who will be the primary putter. I may reserve the Proxy for longer tee shots and use the Watt for shorter ones or upshots.
Been throwing a Plasma Proxy for 6 years, they are the best all around throwing putter.
Praxis for straight, plasma envy for any side to side movement.
I like overstable putters and using the stability to hit gaps 100ft in front of me.
DGA Breaker. Innova Rhino
mint bullet is my go to throwing putter
For a straight putter I throw a star Aviar and overstable I like a P2 type disc. right now it's a active premium glow sensei that I have been liking.
As you do, I like throwing putter hyzer flip. So far the Matty O Maiden has been the best for the job :)
I throw putters flat and everything else on Anhyzer. My only hyzer throws are spike hyzers.
Have you tried the JK Pro Aviar -X I love it as my throwing putter
my guess is the glow hex or reactor or resistor. they are all great!
Vlogmas + MVP = Gyronaut's dream
Zero Medium Orbit Pure. Hyzerflip machine in delish plastic. Its the only Trilogy disc i bag
My throwing putters are baseline p2s. I can't seem to get a premium plastic to come out of my hand the way I think it should.
dang i need to try a proxy! glow would make my glow bag almost complete. i lost my otb glow wave!
Try the Lonestar disc armadillo it’s my go to thrower and the p3x
I usually throw anhyzer and perfer beefier discs, things like the zone I loveeeeee!a I only carry a handful of understble discs
I have MCO lizotte fission proxy and i love it. For me its drifty putter. 🎉
I prefer the hyzer shot. I wanna learn the straight shot.
Try an Ontario Pro Rhyno or 11x KC Aviar P&A, stiff 2 ring run IF you want consistency
Hyzer flips with the soft penroses is literally insane. I also just threw mine into the water yesterday. So I am very sad.
