Troops just have to hide and let it pass and hit it in the ass or low down on the tracks then it’s stuck
It is funny how even western "experts" do not understand the Russian fighting style. The "Turtle tanks" are dedicated mine clearing tanks improvised for drone warfare, these tanks are usually older T72s and they are less protected than the fighting ones as it's job is to clear a path for the main force in a minefield. They are usually driven by an Engineer detachment within the Armoured formation, their job is not to stay and fight and they use their armament only when they have to defend themselves, and thus not being able to traverse the turret is not a big issue. Also the tank getting exploded by mine was funny as during the clearance process the tank has to maintain a certain speed, however, it could have been a IED instead of a mine.
😂😂😂😂 russian fighting style, what a joke. They send their useless tanks with even more useless sheds built on them, tanks that have been refurbished have bricks for reactive armorial.😂 Russia's fighting like it's 1943 and are losing shocking amounts of troops, turtle tanks are often seen in assaults clearing mines as you say, 1 tank clears 1 mine😂 they cant use their armament because it faces front only. Sending troops on motor bikes is also ridiculous. Maybe the north Korean dwarfs can give the russians some lessons😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂I don't think you understand the word style. A fighting style is a proven and well practiced way of fighting that is implemented across all units. A fighting style is not old sheds on top of tanks putin claimed are the best in the world because a $100 drone destroys them. The only fighting stylevrussia emulates is their ww2 style, unfortunately for russia it's not 1943 and they are getting seriously punished. Ukraine falls back sometimes when a town is totally destroyed as they prioritise men and equipment over a few metres of land. Russia still has under 19% of Ukraine which is less than they had week after the invasion started. 2025 will witness another break up off russia, little putin was desperate to re create the USSR but instead is destroying russia.😢
What they forgot is that turtle tank is also used to drop infantry sometime. It's some kind of cheap light armor for infantry riding the tank's sides ...
it is not cheap, it would be easier to do the exact same turtle design to a BTR and have the same effect and save atleast 1 or 2 billion. Using it as a troop carrier is a second thought not a primary thought.
Eventually they persuaded and bullied the UAF to do an all NATO offensive, the only non-NATO component was the soldiers passports... That FAILED Summer Counter Offensive cost Ukraine the war...

Stand off distance from shape charges is what increases crew survivability - cardboard and plywood can work too. The resistance to penetration of the outer layers is basically irrelevant.
This is an amazing document on the development of modern warfare. It was well produced and really AWESOME! thanks.. Unfortunately we have to deal with fighting with each other..
It's only a matter of time when someone comes up with the idea of making lightweight armor that can counter drone swarms without needing a blyat mobile. Because war is the mother of invention.
I wouldn't call the thin sheet metal Armored! This shell really makes it easier to entrap the crew! There's no quick escape. Sure this sheet metal plating will protect any crew who are outside the tank, but inside the shell, but only slightly as only low level of shrapnel would be stopped by it.
Well obviously you know this stuff better than people who've been fighting this war for almost 3 years. I suggest you delete your comment cause Russian Army may stumble upon it, realise what doofuses they've been, and create a more effective built thanks to your criticism.
I don't think it was ment to stop anything lol I would say it's made to trigger something. Like the drones ramming it with heat shells. The shell would be triggered like in the video and explodes at a distance where it has little to no effect to the tank itself and thus protecting the tank and its crew Sure a metal sheet stapled a meter away from the tank no effect compared to any form of ERA.....but it's better than nothing
Keeping a distance from the main structure will increase survivability. However, it comes with the cost of reduced mobility and sight. Btw..drones can still find their way in.
This was wrong on so many things.. If He thinks Ukrainians use HIMARS on a 1 Turtle Tank and a support T54.. A Joke He is, and not a specialist of any kind.

You're making fun but there were true stories at the beginning of the war, back in 2022 when russians welded down the hatches of their tanks to prevent the tank crews from escaping during the offensive operations. When russians were introduced to the Javelin ATMs for the first time they were scared to death and many of them just ran for it in the middle of the battle. You may find a lot of videos where ukrainians come across deserted, idling tanks without any damage on them
Its only a matter of time until they have movable cages that you can also see through. It should be entirely possible to block light projectiles like drones with a cage mounted on the turret.
On one hand: more protection. On the other hand: you can't move your turret and it's also added weight. But I guess they are more of a bait than an actual weapon.
intially they are a bait until you recognise every tank behind it is vulnerable in which case you destory those tank and allow infantry to take car of the turtle tank.
Of course, the best protection against drones and other flying objects is the capability to shoot them down before they hit their target. That's exactly what the Swedish Strv-122 and its smaller cousin CV-90 are equipped with: a module that uses radar, laser, and optics to detect, lock on, and then automatically fire a standard machinegun, shooting 2, 4 or 8 standard NATO 7.62 rounds at $1 a pop with millimetre precision. So, as the British guy mentions at 17:20, that's the preferred way. Only Swedish Hägglund already did it years ago.
yes and no. the CV90 can indeed do that, but the issue is they are using the main gun using burst ammunation. This means you are using your main gun to protect yourself but what if you in a situation where you need to protect yourself from ground and air? I love the CV90 but it isnt a perfect resolution.
@@ashleygoggs5679 The main gun, based on the legendary Bofors 40 mm lvakan, is not used for this. The secondary weapon, a ksp m/48C based on the Belgian FN MAG, is used for this. This module works independently of the main gun's system, thanks to the modular design.
Standard machine gun shooting during movements? You believe in that? machine gun is not stabilized. How do you aim those drones? Aumatically or by hands? You have special mechanisms , to control machine gun on top? Then such tank will cost like airlilner. Besides, how many rounds those machine guns spend on one drone? warfare has changed alot from when you were a soldier till now. It is tougher for soldiers because of drones. And the rollers don’t always work several mines proved that. But main thing one drone can clear so others can do the job properly the armor only last so long. Plus if you notice the second tank is bare and if I remember right it got clobbered leaving the turtle all by its self.
Yep, the Russki's are always adaptive.
😂😂😂😂 russian fighting style, what a joke. They send their useless tanks with even more useless sheds built on them, tanks that have been refurbished have bricks for reactive armorial.😂
Russia's fighting like it's 1943 and are losing shocking amounts of troops, turtle tanks are often seen in assaults clearing mines as you say, 1 tank clears 1 mine😂 they cant use their armament because it faces front only. Sending troops on motor bikes is also ridiculous. Maybe the north Korean dwarfs can give the russians some lessons😂😂😂😂
@@tclanjtopsom4846 Yet they take the ground? Those pesky convicts with shovels.
@@tclanjtopsom4846 No army has ever used motorcycle troops.......😆
If they use mines with delay fuses for example 3 seconds then mine sweeping is no longer useful
Да да , только надо будет сказать пацанам обождать для того что бы поменять взрыватели если они захотят поехать без трала.🤣
nobody would use a 3 secs delayed mine
how did you get in my head?
If a tank traveling at 40-60km/h hits an AT mine with a 3sec delay fuse it would have moved 2-3 tank lengths by the time the mine functions.
@@5RndsFFEto be fair, the OP said "for example"

What they forgot is that turtle tank is also used to drop infantry sometime. It's some kind of cheap light armor for infantry riding the tank's sides ...
Turret catchers LOL
it is not cheap, it would be easier to do the exact same turtle design to a BTR and have the same effect and save atleast 1 or 2 billion. Using it as a troop carrier is a second thought not a primary thought.
It isn't armor nor is it cover at best it is concealment.
They literally mentioned it at the start.
They literally mention that TWICE in the FIRST FIVE MINUTES.
I don't know why but that guy is hilarious. His delivery almost sounds like a mockery of the turtle tank. Great guy!
Very informative videos, keep it up Britain ♥️

I was watching this video and then my neighbor came and we watched it together and it changed his life and touched his heart I then went and rented a big projector in a big field and my entire town watched it and it changed their lives too we are all so grateful for this video thank you so much.
Stand off distance from shape charges is what increases crew survivability - cardboard and plywood can work too. The resistance to penetration of the outer layers is basically irrelevant.
Informative!... with great graphics!... more pls 👍
Love your website and UA-cam channel!
lol reminds me of those medieval battering rams.
This is an amazing document on the development of modern warfare. It was well produced and really AWESOME! thanks..
Unfortunately we have to deal with fighting with each other..
The air gap seems effective for a mine plow vehicle or infantry vehicle as part of a combined arms convoy.
I don't think it was ment to stop anything lol
I would say it's made to trigger something. Like the drones ramming it with heat shells. The shell would be triggered like in the video and explodes at a distance where it has little to no effect to the tank itself and thus protecting the tank and its crew
Sure a metal sheet stapled a meter away from the tank no effect compared to any form of ERA.....but it's better than nothing
Keeping a distance from the main structure will increase survivability. However, it comes with the cost of reduced mobility and sight. Btw..drones can still find their way in.

This has to be great for situational awareness

@@larsrons7937 Hehe, nice comments. So true.
You may find a lot of videos where ukrainians come across deserted, idling tanks without any damage on them
Ukraine does the same with their tanks tho
@aceryer R U sure?
Its only a matter of time until they have movable cages that you can also see through. It should be entirely possible to block light projectiles like drones with a cage mounted on the turret.
That vehicles seem to have been taken from an episode of the A-TEAM !
Its supply transport
The Thumbnail looks like a Mobile Shantytown abode.
Favela/jungle/shanty ... you don't need planning permission for anything.
@@ashleygoggs5679
The main gun, based on the legendary Bofors 40 mm lvakan, is not used for this.
Usually tank can carry around 500 rounds for machine guns. If it's high velocity machine gun then you'll waste all rounds in 3 secons. And usually during any mission tanks faces dozens of drones of all kinds. So, it's easy for your mass media declare woundewaffe that was never used in combat , especially in large numbers.
@@AlexanderTch 500 rounds for machine guns? What is this, the interwar period? And stablizing an MG is not very expensive compared to the rest of the vehicle for fucks sake. What even is a high velocity machine gun? Nobody's claiming this is a wonder weapon, it's a defense system. If you think a machine gun automatically shooting down drones is far fetched, just wait until you see what a trophy system does. Nevermind the bigass CIWS they have on modern ships that can track and shoot down BALLISTIC MISSILES. You're daft.

Killdozer at home:
In one of the comments in this video, they mentioned immobilizing a turtel tank. Why don't they use two drones? both equipped with the RPG explosives to hit the drive tracks of the tank?
Except for the fact some drones can now carry large motars or ap sabot rnds from artty or tanks let alone triple stack ur mines
So basically now you have “tank” that is not capable of anything other than moving further metal box.
Necessity being the mother of all invention.
Looks like spaced armor is back on the menu boys.
The outer shell means it is less effective but turns it into "a heavily armored troop transport". Surely not. Turning it into mobile artillery or for some turning it into mine clearers.
Tiny chains with metal balls. Twirl them around. Why aren't they doing that with drones? 😮 Same as the things that keep flies off your food in outdoor dining.
How come a small tiny drone hitting it outside can cause such a ginormous explosion???
The Russians are dumb enough to leave the hatches open, so blast and heat goes inside and sets off the interior-stored explosive stuff. The Russians blow thenselves up. The reason it keeps going is that there's no survivors to tell them what really happened, so they continue making the smae mistakes.
Watch the video.
Just simple version of spaced armour.
Did you even watch the video? They carry HEAT rounds that sets off the tanks munitions.
That's a really well put together video with some great graphics
the first half was 50% useless but the rest where the professional spoke is very informative.

warfare has changed alot from when you were a soldier till now. It is tougher for soldiers because of drones. Russia thought it was all about tanks but Ukrainians have shown that drone warfare is the warfare of modern age. Russia has no logical reason to be doing this as they have the advanced tanks and munitions. But being a soldier whos thrown into war, into a tank, sure I would do the same to give myself that potentially 1% extra survival.
