  • If you are the Mother of the Groom, you are watching the right video! If you want to be happy on wedding day and maintain a healthy relationship with your son and new in-laws follow these 10 rules:
    1. Set up a self-care routine for yourself
    2. Communicate well early on.
    3. Be clear about what you will contribute financially (also, I tell you the etiquette for what the Groom's family should cover in this video too!)
    4. Be the most generous giver of grace out there.
    5. Create your own wedding planning to do list.
    6. Be flexible with your time.
    7. Be thoughtful.
8.Figure out how to love your new in laws.
    9. Let your soon to be family get to know you too
    10. Embrace the change before you

Wonderdul encouragement. Yep. They made me cry today. I’m trying so hard to honor what my future DIL wants. She didn’t mean to hurt my feelings and I didn’t mean to stress her. It will all work out. I’ve never seen the officiant or florals on the list for groom’s family. We are able to host the rehersal dinner and I’ve certainly seeking wisdom from other MOG friends. Thanks for the helpful tips. Love language tip is also a good reminder.

Thank you for these tips;). I’m praying im a helpful blessing MOG. Our son proposed last weekend & as parents of groom we were honored he allowed us to be part of the proposal. It actually has helped us to “let go” in the sense and bless him
Forward even more on this journey. There’s so many emotions for both sets of parents. 🙏🏻

Just came across this in June 2022. I will be MOG in Nov of this year. The couple is having a microwedding. So these were helpful to me. Thank you. With the world the way it is today and long distance weddings. So many different choices. Thank you

Goodness me, are weddings still this formal across the pond?
I have my instructions on what I need to do - son and long-time partner are planning and paying for it all - both sets of parents just need to show up and do what they’re told😆

I am a MOTG - wedding in 2024. My advice is to use a planner! I couldn't find one specifically for the mother of the groom, so I made one! ;)

When choosing a dress, who goes first, the mother was the groom or the grandmother of the bride?

This will be so helpful to the MoG and to the Bride and Groom, I think it really will help the wedding planning be as happy of a time as it should be for everyone involved!

What to do if my son and very sweet daughter in law to be are not wanting to include me and my son and I were always so close but he now refuses to let me have a mother son dance and my future daughter in law said her family was covering everything and tells me the prices I have offered to help but but she always says no yes they have a child together my Granddaughter but he refuses to allow me to do anything even go to the rehearsal dinner and I ask kindly about her wedding colors and she shows me and the invitations but she said that she would unblock me to get one my son acts totally different when he is away from her not blaming her blaming my son
