Apparently it's a hunting instinct that tries to mimic and lure in cats. Sometimes it also kicks in when cats look at objects elevated above them while they're excited to play.
Did you watch the video of the cat outside 😳 and when a bird would chatter or sing the cat would mimic the bird. It's worth taking the time to look for the video 👍.

He smart too! Soon as you put the 90 joint on that door see him sitting on that shelf silently chirping in excitement. He knew that meant he was getting a knew shelf.

Almost a year ago, I started thinking about putting shelves on the wall for a cat. I thought that it would be a great way for the cat to play and have a getaway from people area. I included in my thoughts a high shelf at the window for a better outside view. The problem is I do not have a cat. I'm glad someone else is using this idea for his cat.
@Restless Pridestalker Perfect and spot on! My cats had no problem seeing in the dark well enough to tell exactly what part of my abdomen to land on that made me go "UFFF!!!" in the middle of the night!

You can install it in something called a "lamp", and then, when you press a desginated switch, the lamp will turn on, causing your house to be lit even at night. A must-have for everyone! No more going to the toilet in the dark and stubbing your toe on the way! It also comes with this addon so that even your pets can see!
Love the cat and the people who love her enough to do this for her. She is a much loved family member. Beautiful people.
