Yes! The cb750 is the best! I can die satisfied. I had to see the tail and the seat lines on the cb750. I have a feeling that "RACERTV" will be honored to feature it. Finish that puppy !
You are not wrong about wanting to finish this bad boy, I just got so much on my plate at the moment I’m doing my best to try and keep content coming consistently for you guys. Thank you again so much for the comment as always
That looks great! The extra piece of plastic that goes over the the tank addresses a problem that a lot of cafe racers have in terms of the weird gap between the seat and the tank. Nice work!
You are 100% right and this is something that I really dislike about a build so I take the extra effort to make sure there is no gap. I’m always coming up with new ways of doing things
Dan looks great, here in the states we use a plastic type product called Kydex. You will find it used a lot in handgun holster applications, as it can be mold around the handgun to grip it. the great thing about Kydex is if you don't like your initial shape you throw back in the oven and it will go back to the original flat piece it started as and you can start over. We use it at my work to protect the rear skid cross tubes on helicopters from getting damaged by debris, as it is expensive to replace the cross tubes. Looking forward to the new videos!
Wow that's a good idea with the plastic, I just might do that in future. Oh and you reminded me to order one of those trimming tools, I keep forgetting to do that lol
Hey Dan, been binge watching your channel and absolutely love it, I've been thinking about building a cafe racer inbetween all my car builds and this seat came out so good that it made me decide to do it. The overall look of the bike is elegant whilst still tough. Love it and also love the scrambler build. Thanks for the inspiration!
That’s amazing Dude thank you so much for taking the time and leaving me a comment this sort of comment inspires the crap out of me to keep making videos
Just whet I was looking for. I’m building a seat pan for a cafe fiberglass setup similar to yours. I see the plastic sheets are the way to go vs building from fiberglass. 👌🏽
Hi Dan, I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I love your work! I'm building a cafe racer from a 2000 Ducati 900 SS Based on a homage to the GT 750 Sport. This was certainly the video I was looking for to help me get my seat right. Will be placing an order for one of those kits shortly! Hugh
I'm always down for good seat video. It's great to see you selling products now too man, doing big things. I've been heating and reshaping the plastic in dual sport seats and that plastic stuff looks way easier.
Just restarting my gs1100g super cafe build. I have pretty much all of the wiring figured out and am about to start chopping the frame and welding. I’d like to get the seat figured out before that. What thickness plastic should I order?
You're 100% right, Designed my seat like the rest of my bike in Fusion 360, looked very nice but once it came back from the upholsterer the rear hump was way to big and I ended not using it, 250$ laying on a shelf....
Took a bit of searching but think I found them! I was needing them for my build too. Ended up searching “locking push mounting clip” and found them. Looks like they’re called Beauclips made by FastCap! Hope that helps and wasn’t too late o7
Nice vid Dan! This will look great even if I love the brat seat also. I would be even more thrilled if you would do the upholstry self like the cx. Thats a real inspiring vid that makes me wanna start sewing😊
Thank you mate, i’m actually just trying different things to show different ways of doing stuff, i’ve heard a lot of people having problems with fibreglass as it’s not always the easiest thing to work with so hopefully this is another option for them :)
Brillant video, am in the moment of doing a gpz750 street tracker up, What are the plastic clip you have that you use to clip into the plastic and fiberglass as am in UK Many thanks Grant

@@grantmason3513 no problem, also not sure if you've gotten foam yet or not but call your local auto or marine upholstery shop and you can usually get it from them cheaper than you find it on amazon or on other online upholstery stores.
how come you dont apply a single thin sheet of foam on top of the shaped pink foam ? That should leave you with a smooth surface, and finish it off better ( i would presume) ?
I could do that and I was thinking about it but generally the thin foam is stitched just under the vinyl to create the raised affect between the stitches
Hey mate that Bmw is actually a friend of mine’s and I haven’t been up to his place to shoot any more footage of where he’s up to but hopefully I can do that soon
Yes you arehundredpercent right it is much less itchy do use anything but fibreglass. Having said that I really enjoy working with fibreglass it’s actually very fun for me. 😁

Amazing process, Dan. Love that bike’s side profile! Hope all is well there... we really miss visiting Oz. 🏍👍🏍
Thank you Gary, I’m sure you’ll be back in Oz sometime soon :)

Thank you mate and yes I’m quite familiar with Kydex but unfortunately Kydex is not a cheap here in Australia for some reason 🤷♂️
This helped me so much with my 650 CB build! Looks great!

What’s that small Bosch belt sander you’re using, looks fantastic. Can’t seem to find one anywhere 🤷🏼
Great video the bike is looking good 👌
Thanks James

I hear you, and you are definitely not alone. We learn from our mistakes better than any other weigh I think especially if they cost us money
Great job!!! a lot of ideas for make my seat👌
Have you got a link for pieces to fix seat on the base .Thanks😊
Comfort & custom don't usually go together, but looks beat comfort right : ) Looking good m8.
Ask any chick that wears high heels, it’s always about looks first lol 😂
I need the name from the Pins you used in 3:59, to clip the plastic to the seat pan

Looks amazing. Will you be doing a video on doing the upholstery? I'm considering buying a cheap sewing machine and having a crack..
Ah you have already, and I've just watched it. Loving it.
amazing as always !! I need this for my R65
Thanks mate it’s really easy and fun to work with
Que buen trabajo! 🤩

Dan - what are those snap clips called? Im in the US, and would like to just buy the clips
No website available? Shop closed?
Another really helpful video! Would upholstery staples go into that plastic? And what type of plastic is it? Cheers!
No staples won’t and its thermoplastic
Hi Dan
Can you put staples into the plastic you use for your seat
No not really but the glue is super strong 💪
@@CafeRacerGarage what glue do you use, I thought glue didn't stick to that type of plastic
Zambia here
Hi where are you located ?
The Bike looks killer!! How will the fabric/upholstery be attached to the seat base? Just contact adhesive or something stronger?
Thanks mate, Yes just contact adhesive is all that is needed. If you get the right stuff it’s so dam strong it’s not even funny 😯

It’s made by 84 engineering it’s called a belt grinder
Hi, what kind of plastic is this specifically? ABS, HDPE ?
+1
Sorry but I rememberd something, and I'll go a bit off topic...
Whats with the BMW bike you showed us some while back?

Haha 😂 i’m still making mistakes along the way don’t worry about that. :)

Why use fibreglass it’s itchy messy stuff... so much easier to make one out of sheet metal
