Wow, reminded me of my retirement from Equestrian sport,age 11,was entered for a novice (haha) cross country on Whisky a grey pony club games ace.
A mile or so in I managed to apply the brakes. Looking back on it,I did well to stay on.
Left ponies to my sisters.
"Did you hear someone screaming?" asked my friend later.
