My wife and I were doing some engraving on wood this weekend, and the Emblaser was running for approx 20 x 20 minute cuts - we had to clean the lens twice, as a 'frosty' circle appeared on the lens - once the process is done a couple of times, it becomes easy :)
No need to do a lens alignment unless you do maintenance to the laser housing. You are good to just clean the lens, replace and start your next cutting job.
Damian Lappin I had the same issue the first time I took the lens off to clean it. I have a feeling that they are put on tight in the factory. Try holding the laser unit with your other hand and turn to the right. You don’t want to twist the laser unit in the rails. Let me know how you go! :)
Gil Poznanski thanks, I did end up using multigrips... and made sure I was holding the head. The red rubber washer was stuck to the lens as well. I was grateful for your video as it showed where the washer should sit. It definitely needed a clean.
@@DamianLappin Glad you got it off. The O-Ring will be stiff and attached the first time it comes off. Don't tighten it that tight when you replace it, and it will come off easily next time. You can get to clean the lens in a few minutes. Enjoy!
ComradeQuiche Airsoft maybe some tape on the jaws, it was quite disconcerting the amount of force it needed. (Now it’s just finger tight). Make sure you’re turning it the right way? It’s upside down... I always have to recite “righty-righty” then figure out which is my right?!?
@@LaserLivestream Oh, ok, good to know that it can be done. Thanks ! By the way, do you think that the lack of lens cleaning could be the reason of wavy edges cuts ? I purchased my cutter in 2017 but, for various personal and professional reasons, I could only unpack it 2 months ago. So, I am using an old generation Emblaser 2 now and got some problems with focusing and so on. Darklylabs told me to change the firmware but I could not find all the appropriate files (I am waiting for their support right now). But regarding those wavy edges I am really wondering about what happend as 2 months ago everything was fine. And I did not cut so many things to justify that the lens would be already terribly dirty, but who knows. That'swhy yesterday I was about to tackle the task of cleaning the lens but simply gave it up, haha. Anyway, thank you for your answer and your clear video. :) Kind regards.
Not so simple if you have the early Emblaser 2, you also need to do a test to check the air assist nozzle is in perfect alignment otherwise it will block the laser beam.

Great work Gil. This should really help out with other users . Giving them the courage to tackle this task for themselves 👍
Thank you Arron 🙏 This one little step has changed the results I get from my laser...

Sugrue Family What kind of wood were you using? I find the oils in some woods cause a build up on the lens very quickly.
Hi, Gil, thx for this lens cleaning sharing, just one question, after cleaning, so you usually do another lens alignment or not?

Should I need to use pliers? it seems quite tight

Damian Lappin mine is ultra tight... just managed to scratch the outside of the ring itself... won’t budge at all.

Hi :) On the first generation of Emblaser 2 it's actually a lot more painful :(
First gen lens cleaning is a whole different process. I actually upgraded my laser unit to get away from using an allen key to clean my lens 😉

And for installation, you just reverse the removal process and *boop* it's time to start the cleaning process again! Lol
Just don't touch the lense and you will be fine. Took me a few attempts to master it though :)

Martin Coombs Hear you Martin. I do believe there is an upgrade kit that bring the earlier version in line with the procedure shown in the video.
