Oh I know! Looking at the dash and stereo which I want to swap out, it looks difficult and intimidating like it would be an all day chore to get to the stereo and remove it, swap stereos and then take another day to put everything back together! This video is really great!
Excellent video! I have a stereo I want to swap and this video really does a great job explaining the process of removing the dashboard panel to gain access to the stereo mounting area. I was looking for a video that explains removing the front dash panel before I go and take it apart....Just looking at it, it looka like a tedious chore but your video helps a lot, makes the process actually look pretty simple (looking at the dash and where the stereo is really makes it look like a difficult task but thanks to your video it looks pretty straightforward so thanks a lot for this video! Very well done!)
Thanks! Videos make it easier than following after market manuals. One important thing they note, that this video doesn't, is to disable the air bag system by pulling the fuse on the left side of the dash that is accessible when opening the driver side door.
Wish I wouldve found this video 5 minutes ago and I probably wouldn't have practically broken my dash apart in 3 pieces. :( so mad right now! This was a life saver! Great video! Very clear and easy to understand/hear/see. Just curious- is if ideal to disconnect the battery and/or remove the airbag fuse prior to disconnecting electrical connectors etc? What about issues of any sort with the "TheftLock" system? Thanks again.
My 2001 GMC Sonoma is like the same exact dash setup (Seeing how they're both GM) but I seem to have an extra wire near the light plugs behind the dash but I can't figure out how to replace it, it used to be a utility truck for an electric company and it's for the orange light on the top. Other than that great vid!
did you get a antenna adapter? the gm antenna is smaller than the port on the aftermarket deck you can buy adapters or do what I did and wrap it with electrical tape and jam it in so it fits tight as hell lol
Chevy can't ever make stereo instalation or removal easy. The only thing I like about my factory radio, are the soeakers. They have good sound and a bass speaker in dash.
Hey man, kinda late to comment on this but did you ever figure out anything for the smaller wiring harness? I think since they just let it hang in this video I'll do the same, but there's definitely nowhere to plug it into in my aftermarket stereo. Thanks for your help.
this is the easy part of the entire process.... need a video on how to install and set the deck. the aftermarket kits are fuckn garbage and it doesnt seem to be very stable. the factory deck has a dowl that jams in to a bracket on the dash . did u do the same with the after market? how the fuck do u keep the ass end up. the fuckn dash kit i have is fuckn shit
Inefficient engineering; they should've designed it, in such a way, that you can easily remove and install the stereo, without having to remove all that shit.
Awesome video. Dang GM can sure make something simple very complicated!
+MrSponge1985 not as bad as the dodge Dakota 2004

I'm about to tackle this project with my Sonoma. I appreciate this video!

Switching my stereo system in my s10 this weekend, thank you!
Thanks a lot. I now own two S10's, both 2000 and i'm swapping stereo's today. This will help. Cheers!

Craig3010 why would you need to do that?
thank you for the video great help my first radio install no probs at all
Thanks, made it super easy to switch my old factory radio for an upgraded factory radio.
Greg Schroeder what upgraded stereo did you install in your s10? And does it have an AUX cord?
I bought an unlocked OEM CD FM/AM unit. No AUX cord. It worked for about a week then locked again. I put back in my AM radio
Top-drawer, EXCELLENT How-To. Thank you very much. 5-Stars!

This isn't an eBay review lol wtf

I'm about to do that to my s10 tomorrow or Saturday. Putting in a after market radio
Hey! How did the install go? I watched another video and the guy said I have to solder cords and put electrical tape on it. Did you have to do that?
Thanks for the tips
worser! 😂
great video either way!
thank you.
Great video. Thanks
do you have to disconnect the battery?
no
my radio is just static 95% of the time, I wonder if the cord is just loose in the back or if my radio is bad

More difficult, may require dropping the steering column.

c'mor. good leadership/ phobic moon what do you thinl... !!
Why the heck would you put the factory back in?!? Geez.
Captain Geno idek what that's supposed to mean. I guess some people Would rather have the stock
I guess if your selling it and it still has stock speakers then it'd be good I guess

awesome...
Not the worse I've seen, but still pretty annoying....
Likely just as annoying or worse to replace the dash speakers.
Thanks for the video.
