No question they've changed the game so much...but you can't say today's kids couldn't've played then. You can only say they couldn't have played their style today back then. Who knows how the young players today would've developed & adapted to the game of that era? Maybe Holmgren & Wemby would've been told they had to gain weight, and if they couldn't they wouldn't have survived 6 months back then...but we just don't know because there's way too many variables. Only certainty is the game was nothing like today
I mean. Half of the American players wouldn't be considered good not efficient. The American star is only good with softer rules. That's why they cry and suffer with the same role players when they go to the Olympics. I am 100% sure Jokic would be an MVP candidate and championship contender in any other era. Tatum and Brown who were disrespected in the Olympics for politics would be great. Shai would be great. But the American divas of today like LeBron and Durant, wouldn't even have smelled a ring. You know how I know, because they needed the superteams
Truth is, Barkley dribbled to much too. When he came to Houston, we got tired of him pretty fast. Hakeem knew how to move the ball and they won championships.
@@EddieFonzarelli I love Vince Carter. He and T-Mac are two of the best players of the early 2000's. I have to make a video about them one day. They were unbelievable.
They have basically handcuffed the defensive players. To ensure more scoring in the NBA game. There is no hand checking or physical play. That, in part, is why the ratings are down. The less physicality, the less competition.
No, that's not true. I love all generations. I lived the 2000s, but honestly the 90's were better. American basketball has regressed big time. I can prove it. So, if this generation is the best, and Jokic is by far and away the best player in the world by any metric and eye test, then, Jokic is better than Michael Jordan, right?
I love the Celtics. The play team basketball and their stars defend and always play. Also the Nuggets and the Mavs. I like the Knicks, yet I wonder if Towns would work for them. I like the fact they are a defensive team. I like Tom T. Let's see what happens this year. The Thunder is nice. I have the feeling the finals will be Boston Thunder, I would like that!
Dribbling and dribbling is inefficient basketball. If you don't want me to talk about the past, ok, let's talk about the present. The ONLY reason the warriors are always contending with and without Durant is that their best player plays a lot of the ball. Making it unpredictable. That's True Basketball 🏀
Sorry man, but I think you are missing the point. For example, Load Management didn't exist. Players rarely played less that 80 games and games as you saw were way tougher. It is super easy to play a game that is softer. It's like being a Globetrotter. But surviving that punishment and still play 82 games. Wilkins averaged 30, with no shooters and spacing. A great rim protector waiting inside and hand check. Honestly, how many would he average today.
Another thing, the media lies telling you everything has to evolve. That's not true. UFC evolved. But boxing is not better today for example. We live a generation on which roughness and competition is no revered. Is it logical then than foreign players are ruling the NBA today.
Okay um heres the issue when you name ppl like chris paul..... Chris Paul was whats called a faciliatator PG something like Jason Kidd he ran the offense and plays.... chris paul knew how to play defense he knew how to play off the paul chris paul wasnt a lebron type player neither was Dwayne wade or vince Carter. Vince carter didnt win as much because he had a BAD TEAM AROUND HIM in an era where allen iverson Tracy mcgrady steve nash kevin garnett, paul pierce, kobe and shaq, tim duncan, tony parker, carmelo anothony, the pistons team with ben wallace richard hamilton, chancey billups rasheed wallace like dominant franchises were playing then. There were alot of great teams in the nba but vince was productive just as productive off the ball as he was on the ball.... so yea id be careful not facts. And it crazy you think steph curry whose known for taking the most crazy 3 point shots would be able to play during the time where Allen iverson was getting pulled off the court for taken to many low percentage shots from 3 and allen never shot a three from 4 feet behind the 3 point line if curry took that shot back then whether he msde it or not hed be benched just off the principle that the shot he took was a bad shot. So clearly your bias.....
See, this is the problem: you got triggered when you heard any criticism of CP3. I'll explain it to you. ALL players in LeChoke's generation had the same protagonism problem. ALL OF THEM. The were raised only to be the man and have the ball in their hands no matter the team. They don't really know how to play OFFBall. You have to play at their rhythm and they plays that favor them. That's one of the reasons all those dudes: Lebron, CP3, Howard, Melo, and even Wade (who was finals MVP that year) got beaten by Greece. Because as soon as you put them together, they couldn't fit a role in the offence and just knew how to stand in a corner.
In regards to J Kidd, absolutely not! J Kidd and Nash were more similar to Magic and even Curry in play style. They will run and move the ball as fast as possible. One of the problems with LeFake and CP3 particularly is that they like to pound the rock, get their pick-n-roll, and let's see what happens after that. There is not much ball movement, and the offence only works through them, and you can only be a shooter around them. That's why. Blake Griffin never worked. Harden and Paul worked perfectly 1 year, same with Booker. the 2012 USA team struggle against Brazil, hahaha. Because Paul always wanted to be the man as a "facilitator".
I never mentioned Vince Carter in that group! I have never spoken negatively about Vince. I think he was great for any time. He knew how to play off ball.
Addressing Wade. I do like Dwayne a lot. Yet this is why you got trigger and didn't understand what I meant. They all share the same problem. Their playstyle demands for them to be the man. Their teams never work as well if they have to play off ball. That's why the Heatles! never became the invincible team they were suppose to be. Because for Wade to be Wade and LeChoke to be Lebron, they have to be the man. Spurs figures them out, knowing they are not reliable catch and shoot players, and got them out of rythim. Again "same generation, same problem".
20 years ago.. players was drug addicts & alcoholics. Drunk and high on the court fouling hard calling it physical.😆😁, Jordan had to snitch on that to get it out the NBA . FACTS 100 PERCENT..Them guys could not hold these guys in todays game.😆😎
Weak argument. The style of game breeds the player it gets. If you had a more physical game we would have seen a different caliber of players come up through the pipeline. The point you and Garnett are making is comparing Italian football to Brazilian football. Italy is physical, fundamental and blue collar (pun intended); Brazilian soccer is more skillful, “prettier” type of joga bonito… They both have their merit - let it go. The game evolves.
I imagine you are a LeBron fan. Ok. Let me do it your way. If the game evolved so much, should Jokic who is easy the best player in the world today by far and away, who is averaging a 30 pts triple double, has the highest PER ever and owns LeBron, be the Greatest player ever, by far. He is the best player with the better stats in the most advanced prettiest era.
Or Maybe just maybe it is easier to do more stats if the rules are softer. Still, Jokic already passed Lebron in triple double and will pass Magic all time this year. All time triple doubles!!! So, Jokic is the GOAT, got ya!
This era I like Giannis. Everyone else I agree with KG
Giannis is one of my favourites. He plays with passion and wants to learn every day. I hope he can get out of that situation in Milwaukee

Mid 80s through mid 90s was the best era, but yes... the 2000s was certainly a better era than today.
KG put up Hall of Fame numbers and is argued one of the best PF ever. If KG played today it wouldnt be fair.
