A lot of people are talking about how their eyes aren't jeweled, but even in an animation with a really high budget, they still need to simplify/limit when the eyes are the main focus (cough cough, Gojo Satoru's eyes). I feel like, with what they have, they've done a pretty good job! If you look at Athy's frame here 0:54 you can see how much her eye stand out even though they aren't "jeweled." People don't realize how hard it is to animate exactly like the manhwa!

It's way too important to the stories context not to do it so it would be stupid if they did a time skip. and a majority of the story is in her childhood too.
I realize how hard it is to animate jeweled eyes, but still, it’s not just that the eyes are jeweled for the sake of being pretty. They actually have significant meaning in the story and plot. They gotta put in the effort. Even if it will take a long time, the jeweled eyes are one of the most important parts of the plot. It’s actually the sole plot in s2 and forwards.
0:12 shows how jeweled her eyes are, idk they seem pretty damn jeweled to me considering they sparkle when she walks

So excited! I loved this manwha so much. While I don’t mind the art style change, my one complaint is the lack of jeweled eyes; which were important to the plot.

Nah depends on the budget and studio so like if it was tencect animation studio or bilibili or some other studios then the animation could be awesome also her jewelled wyes could have been animated as well... Perhaps maybe they're on a tight budget and they couldn't animate her jewelle eyes... If you want some suggestions then i could recommend "soul land" "battle through the heaven" "swallowed star" "demon hunter" "jade Dynasty" "Island of sailing" "law of the devil's" etc etc... man these donghua animation is on crazy level-

But in other news, this is exciting! I was looking for the PV last night so I could update my donghua/manhua recommendations list, but couldn’t find anything at the time.
As a general fan of donghua, I’m glad to see more people discovering the world of Chinese animation!
I think this is the third time a donghua has adapted a Korean manhwa now, which is also nice and interesting considering certain things (mostly due to sinophobes). But I’ll have my fingers crossed that people won’t be weird about it.
The earliest stuff I saw from WMMAP fans were on Reddit where they kind of shit on the idea of a donghua adaptation since they didn’t believe Chinese animation could be good. As someone else on the forum said, they were taken aback by everyone acting like it was a death sentence. I even saw someone say Chinese animation can’t do good action, which is funny to me since it’s like…what Chinese animation specializes in now DLGNKSHDJS.
So I’m glad the WMMAP fans get to enjoy a good donghua and some of them even get to be proven wrong about Chinese animation’s quality. ^^
The studio working on it is Colored Pencil, and they’ve done _Quan Zhi Gao Shou_ and _Biao Ren,_ so not only do they have amazing action animation, they have strong animation overall! I’m thus not surprised the donghua is just as sparkly and pretty as the original WMMAP manhwa.
But yeah, fingers crossed no one is weird about it. I still remember when the _Biao Ren_ PV blew up with anime sakuga fans, I saw people insisting Colored Pencil had relied predominantly on a Japanese branch of animators because Chinese people can’t make good animation. 🙄
Hopefully this will help ease more audiences into the world of donghua! The industry has grown so exponentially since 2016, and there’s so many good series out there!

The art style is good but it doesn’t give justice to the original Manhwa’s style, it’s a shame they neglected the incorporation of Spoon’s beautiful signature jewel eyes but I’m looking forward to seeing this nonetheless. It’s also fascinating to see it being adapted as a donghua let’s hope this becomes more and more successful. Also can’t wait to learn more about Diana she’s one of my favourites ❤
Since this animation is produced by a Chinese studio, the quality couldn’t be as good as an anime from Japan. A bit sad but it’s quite ok for a donghua

im lowkey confused. I grew up reading this thinking it was a manga, then i was told it was a manwha, therefore it has japanese anime style but is korean. but now the title says its a donghua which means its chinese. which one is it.
@@todoroki3781 It is a manhwa. Manga is inked comics in black-and-white made by Japanese mangaka. Manhua (漫画) is mostly digitally colored comics made by Chinese artists whereas Manhwa (만화) is digitally colored comics made by Korean artists. Animation studios can pick up works regardless of whether or not their origin is Japanese/Chinese/Korean etc.

Love that this is a donghua, they are really good at animation nowadays, and although there are less sparkly eyes, y'all have to understand that the donghua industry isn't as big as japanese anime yet, and drawing sparkly bejewelled eyes definitely will cost a lot of time and money, so as long as they are faithful to the plot, and animate it well, it's all good

There are good quality animations from China, it just all depends on the budget and the amount of money you’re willing to offer. It’s commonly known that many Japanese animation companies will outsource work to Chinese artists, so it is not a skill issue.
How do you expect a tiny WEBTOON’s adaptation to compare to Ghibli? The budget is simply incomparable.
We don't want every single detail to be same as manhwa but those jeweled eyes was the main base of the story! In almost every single chapter.. those jeweled eyes gets more and more important..and it was also one of the reason why people loved the manhwa, If they can't afford to do this.. than they shouldn't make the anime.

People are complaining about jeweled eyes but, the eyes (and animation altogether!!) look beautiful?? Like what's the problem?? You guys are lucky you get GOOD anime in a different language, my generation had anime adaptions that severely deviated from the manga that they ended up coming out with manga-faithful adaptions years later (Kuroshitsuji? Sailor Moon? Original Fullmetal Alchemist??) and there's people complaining the eyes aren't like in the manga??

Omg I am sooo happy it is gonna be an anime ,this is one of my most loved mangas and seriously God ! I imaginated Luca's voice younger ,you know? Like a bit childish because of his personality and how he can look like a kid with some magic but OMG his voice sounded so mature and matches a lot with his appearance he is truly gorgeous!!!I love him in all his ways, being honest I hope in the anime the princess and him become a couple and have their happy ending together ..just saying
