- The Fatherland Front was a right-wing authoritarian political organization in Austria during the 1930s. Founded by Engelbert Dollfuss in 1933, it represented a form of Austrofascism, seeking to establish a corporatist and authoritarian state. The Fatherland Front aimed to preserve Austria's independence and identity while suppressing opposition. It promoted authoritarian governance and collaborated closely with the Catholic Church. Dollfuss's regime was known for its authoritarian tendencies, censorship, and suppression of political opposition, particularly from socialist and communist groups. The Fatherland Front's rule was cut short when Dollfuss was assassinated in a failed Nazi coup attempt in 1934. His successor, Kurt Schuschnigg, continued the organization's policies. Ultimately, in 1938, Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany, bringing an end to the Fatherland Front's influence. Schuschnigg was imprisoned by the Nazis throughout the war. He moved to the United States after WW2 was over.
#shorts
In the offices of the Austrian People Parties officials, pictures of Engelbert Dollfuß are still hanging😅
Really?
@@HistoryHustle The current austrian Minister of Interior Affaires Gehard Karner, is the Founder of the Dollfuß Museum in the City, where Dollfuß was born.
Germany: (brings National Socialism into Austria)
Dolfuss: "How DARE YOU bring National Socialism into Austria.... that's MY JOB!"
Wrong, Fascism and National Socialism isn't the same. Furthermore Dolfuss was a Germophobe. He hated their ideology and rejection of church. His party was tightly connected to the Catholic Church and he wanted to sign a defense treaty with Italy and if he had lived long enough with other counties against Germany.
Crazy times.
Crazy times.
@@HawkThunder907Actually, National socialism is a particularly xenophobe version of Fascism (fascism was xenophobe on its own, clearly)
@@HawkThunder907Dollfuss didn’t hate Germany or Germans, he hated Prussians and Nazism. The former the detested for their sneering attitude and anti Austrian mindset whilst the latter he hated for their tyrannical ways and policy of Gleichschaltung
That's the same symbol, grammaton, from that stupid movie Equilibrium.
Haven't seen it.
Intersted video Stefan!
Do you plan to Make video about italian forces on Ist front?
1st Front?
@@HistoryHustle pardon, on eastern front in ww2.
France, United Kingdom and the United States all had their fascist parties. In the UK they were never taken seriously as we tend to dislike comic opera outfits and shouting but amongst the aristocracy it was seen as a bulwark against Bolshevism.
See other shorts 👍
@@HistoryHustle I have 😉
Otto von Habsburg had nothing but good things to say about Dollfus in a 2006 interview (( i think 2006 ))
Sounds interesting to watch.
Where can i watch?
Interesting.
👍
Ständestaat. Thanks.BZ.
👍
That is a gross misrepresentation to call fascism “right wing” while right of communism it is still a socialist ideology and thereby LEFT
Theoretical, endless debate.
@@HistoryHustle Mussolini was a socialist. He saw some improvements could be made. So he made them, and called his innovations fascism. Mussolini's career until 1920 is a great, unknown topic.
@@HistoryHustlewell said.
Hitler's National Socialism was welcomed by some people because of its rigorous social program agenda. 🙏🇦🇺
