Lets Try Stained Glass Painting! (House of Crafts Stained Glass Craft Kit)

- Today I'm trying stained glass painting by using the house of crafts stained glass craft kit! Now I have to say I absolutely loved the activity of stained glass painting, I thought it was super fun and relaxing; however when it comes to the house of crafts stained glass craft kit I'd definitely give it a miss! Firstly it arrived with the glass smashed, secondly the paintbrush shed all of its bristles, and finally the lead that was provided in the craft kit was a nightmare to use! I think if you're wanting to take up stained glass painting as a craft, I'd highly recommend either buying the materials separately, or purchasing a was better stained glass painting kit! But let me know what your thoughts were on this stained glass painting kit, and what you thought of my finished stained glass suncatcher in the comments below!

Well I'm not sure I'll be buying another House of Crafts kit 🫠🫠
Perhaps they should rename themselves House of Crap Kits…LOL.
@@dawndavis3684 😆😆
They always seem to end up in charity shops! Lol xx
It looked good considering. I love hearing you rant and rave about things, makes me laugh. You're such a lovely man 👍🏻😃🤗🥰
Haha thanks Claire! 😆😆
I also hate returning things. I'd rather donate something than return it.
Been to physiotherapy a lot for back/neck/shoulder/ankle injuries. There will probably be stretching too but there's a lot of (sometimes) rough massage. Glad you're looking forward to going back.
Loved the suncatcher. Even though the process with the lead strips seemed like an absolute nightmare, the end product came out really well! I didn't notice the color bleed until you pointed it out. Nice job! Thanks, as always, for the vid!
Oh same! Returning things is the worst! 🙈 Ah and thanks, it was definitely a challenge making it! 😅😅
Haha, we had a stained glass hallway light shade in our first house when I was a kid and I loved it!
When we moved, to a rather posh house, we had the stained glass in the front door. Dad was in the loft one day and we heard him grumbling away. Turned out there was....wait for it....a stained glass double headboard up there and we figured it must have been made up there as he had to break it apart to get it out, much to mine and Dad's disappointment!!!
You can buy stained glass things on Etsy, and they're bloody expensive!! xx
Oh wow that's crazy!! Shame it had to be broken! And yeah it's super expensive!!
bravo It really looks nice and with the nasty stuff they sent youGood on you Ant!!!!
Ah thanks Jan! 😊😊
Thanks again for another fun video Anthony
Ah no problem Shell! 😊😊
Your sun catcher turned out cute. Hope your physio keeps going great.
Ah thanks Marti! 😊😊
I'm a glass painter and stained glass artist. I've used those strips as well and I hate them. Next time get some washable fabric paint. It's much cheaper and easier to outline with than pebeo outliner. Let it dry for 24 hours before you paint. It's not bakeable but you can use solvent or water based glass paint with it. Solvent based i dries in 24 hours, I give mine 48. Water based dries in 72 hours. In the US I get Tulip 3 Dimensional fabric paint. Get yourself a lightbox if you don't have one, it makes tracing so much easier. You can get frames and glass from a dollar store to start with. Get a silicone brush (I use clay tools) for the paint. You can try this again for pretty cheap. Happy crafting.
Oh it's horrid isn't it?! 😅😅 And thanks for the tips! I'll keep that in mind for next time! 😊😊
In the town I live in, almost every single house on my street has stained glass windows. They're all quite modern houses too!
I love your suncatcher! It's terrible they don't wrap their kit better for sending though...
I've tried making a little stained glass window with cracked coloured glass and soldering iron strips before at a traditional skills workshop. I remember it being so fiddly 😂
Oh how cool!! Ah and thanks Emma! Tell me about it, it was destined to arrive broken! Oh this one was fiddly too haha, I wasn't expecting it at all! 😅😅
Next time place the glass on top of the picture and just follow the lines, much easier ❤
Omg that would be a million times easier!! 🤦🤦🤦
Wow, your stained glass reminded me of 'Yogi Bars'. A kind of glacé toffee that we used to buy in our tuck-shop at school (in Northumberland). They were green, red, and I think yellow bars.
It looks great, you need to do more, Ant! xx
Oh I've never heard of them before! And it's definitely something I'd try again! 😁😁
Your design really reminds me of a sims plumbob! 😂
I love it! 😊
Oh I totally see that!! 😅😅 Ah and thanks Karla! 😊😊
Just a tip-if it’s an item shipped and sold by Amazon a lot of the times they will send you a replacement for free and you don’t have to return the item at all. It’s pretty nice.
Oh I never knew that! I'll keep it mind for next time 😅😅
You could always try puff paint next time and trace the picture lol I hope you feel better soon! Also, I hate returning things. I always worry they're going to ask a question and I'm going to answer it wrong and they tell me I can't. 😆
Oh puff paint would have been a really good idea!! Same! Makes me so uncomfortable! 😆😆
I’d still send back to Amazon even half used ❤ I’ve done it before if I’m not happy 😂 u did amazing ❤
Haha thanks Becky! 😅😅
That box looks like it came from the 70's. Maybe that is why the lead didn't work so great? You did a great job with that kit though!
Haha true!! 😆😆 Ah and thanks! I would definitely give it another go with other materials at some point! 😁
I think I would have tossed the lead tape stuff and broke out the pebeo relief paint lol. you did great considering! Good luck on your 2nd date! ;)
That's what I should of done tbf! 😅 Haha and thanks! 😁😁
Prefoiled glass pieces with solder iron are also available... even glass mosaic...
Glass paints looks good and require patience
Oh sounds good!
Good for you. I've never left an encounter with a cute guy where my body felt better after than it did before. 🤣
🤣🤣
That came out pretty cute! I’m thinking you could use the Pebeo outliner -that could replace the lead stripping and also contain the different paints.
Ah thanks! Oh that would be a way better idea! 😁😁
Or PVA mixed with a black or grey (whatever colour you want) acrylic paint and squeeze it on to create the lines.
I guess you could do the colours that way, too, once the outlines have dried! xx
So I am lying in my bed with pneumonia at the moment and the pinnacle moment of the shitty brush shedding made me laugh so much that it set me off on a big coughing fit. Normal service has resumed thankfully! I used to see those kits in The Range and always think I should get one of those and just try something new. Never did, but they do have a lot of appeal cause you think you're going to get everything you need & it'll be dead simple. I think you have put that idea to rest 🤣🤣 the end result looked cute though!
Oh dear!! I hope you get better soon Fiona!! Well they definitely got me trying something new, just wish I hadn't wasted my money 😅😅
Your suncatcher came out really nice, well done Ant. Glass painting is a lovely craft. I remember doors and windows on posh houses when I was a kiddie, that had glass like that in the design, they looked so darn cool. Of course my parents council house didn't have any of that coloured glass on the doors or windows. I've always liked that aesthetic tho, as it turned a plain window or door into a piece of art. God bless you and all those you love Ant. Have a great weekend hun!
Ah thanks Carly! Oh it was definitely a bit posh back in the day! Looks so nice though, definitely needs a comeback! Hope you have a great weekend too! 😊😊
The painted glass looked great with the light shining though it on to the wall. I had to return a pair of boots once there is a bit of difference between size 4 and size 14. For some reason I have never been asked to walked on anyone back as a form of physio.
Ah thanks! 😊😊 Haha well yeah I don't blame you then! 😅😅 Oh that's one thing that feels amazing actually! Cracking your back with someone walking on it! Heaven!! 😆😆
You need to know exactly what you are doing or you could cause some nasty injuries, even death! x
I've been quite under the weather lately and you were just what I needed. I love how ou are so openly outspoken. Though I may not have returned the s**** crap kit I would definitely have given them a piece of my mind. Grrr. Love your little suncatcher 💞
Haha glad you enjoyed it Gail! Yeah definitely wouldn't waste your money on this kit! 😅😅

We'd all turn into Karen's haha x
Hey Ant, thanks for the illuminating latest video!! 😄😄 Despite the crapness of the kit itself, your end design turned out great🥳🥳 Hope you've had plenty of sunshine to enjoy it with 🌞 Now, have you started replacing all the windows in Durham Cathedral with your new skills? 🤣🤣
Haha no problem! 😄 Ah and thanks! Oh that would be a challenge for sure! They have some amazing windows though!! 😁😁
@@AnthonyCrammen You're very welcome 😄😄 I do remember the cathedral was very proud of their Marks & Spencer's stained glass window 😂😂 Hope you're having a great start to the weekend and today's project is all going to plan 😁😁
Haha! 😆😆 Indeed I am! Hope you have a great weekend too! 😊😊
@@kingmerry10
Beautiful cathedral and windows, and the door knocker, too!
@@amethyst1826 Definitely an impressive door knocker!!
A little fitty, eh? Lucky you - that has never been my experience in physio 🤣🤣
Oh he was! I'll give you my guys number, you'll be in for a treat!! 😉😆
Cool video and quite effective at the end! Hope your back starts to feel better with the physio xxx
Ah thanks Tracy! 😊😊
An interesting fact about lead. Centuries ago when wealthy people and royalty wore this very white makeup which they didn't know contained lead. Many people died of lead poisoning because of that.
Tbh, I don't buy kits. In this case, I would buy the parts separately.
Oh for sure! It used to be in paints, furniture, even wallpaper! Quite worrying really! And yeah I'd definitely buy them seperate, this kit was crap 😅😅
That came out really nice. Order one more and have a bottle of white wine. This way it won't matter if it sucks LOL. Happy Dating .
Haha! Thanks Alexis! 😆😆
Get well soon Anthony..( but not too soon, until your 'new' boyfriend rubs you up the wrong way 😆).. Lovely sun catcher. Pity about House of Craps supplies
Haha! Oh I'm enjoying it too much! 😆😆 Ah and thanks! Oh it was an awful kit! Definitely wouldn't buy again! 😅
It is definitely a horrid kit, maybe just the paint makes it worth it. But what you made looks really good, I like it. Shame there was no purple 💜💜
Oh it was awful! Definitely wouldn't recommend! 😅😅
Great little craft. Good 2 hear u have a 2nd date with a hottie with a large tool 😁
Thanks Bella! Haha! 😆😆
I would rather throw it out then return it also ..lol
😆😆
Had a right shitty day and use cheered me up no end. Cherry on a shit cake I nearly drowned on me coke. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha glad I could help Melanie! 😊 I hope your week starts getting a little better!
