Behind Air India's Worldwide Expansion
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- recently air India has ordered a total of 470 planes from both Boeing and airbus. this has been a really big news all over the world. but in India, nearly every airline has some planes on order. combined with 500 of indigo, 72 of akasa, and 17 of Vistara, the total number of ordered planes in India exceeds a thousand. but apart from these orders, the air india order happens to stand out the most. and this is because it is the single largest order in terms of aircraft numbers in history.
This order will likely prove to be extremely important for air India and will allow them to expand their network worldwide. the growth in coming years for Air India and overall Indian aviation will surely be historic.

What's the point of making a video. If you cannot spell the main character right. It's TATA.
Air India was a trendsetter once, it set the golden standards of luxury air line travel, CEO of emirates told in an interview that his first international air travel was in a Air India flight and he was awestruck by the service, Singapore Airlines wanted to follow Air India's standards and they took advice from Air India, the beetles band preferred Air India flights for world tours, hope that Air India becomes great once again..
Air India is the Worst ever airlines in the world
Don’t hold your breath. Work ethic today is different from that era.
Air India was owned by Tata. The govt nationalised it and over last 50years literally ground it to dust… finally Air India is coming back to its original owner ie Tata
@@nitinkapoor4752 Still the same
@@kishanbhandari3886 But Workers involved in Rome would be totally efficient. Air India staffs doesn’t even know how to behave with customers. If they goes like this , you can say destruction of Air India didn’t happened in a single day . But because of poor staff maintenance and poor softwares
Hopefully Air India rebrands it's brand looks and logo and colour scheme etc to make it look new, exciting and pleasent
i think they will, when the new planes arrives.
Already a company based in Britain has been hired for the same.
@@avikpaul bro thats delta interior and they wont be changing it because of supply chain isues
Yes, Air India needs to change their livery. Too much of a negative image related to the current brand. Ideally they should rebrand entirely like Swiss Air did.
ikr the cureent color scheme is honestly shit
Air india should also focus on African market
yeah, that's a completely untouched market for indian carriers.
Maybe they can East Africa but in guessing that can only sustain 1 airline which Ethiopian already does.
I hope I get a direct flight from Johannesburg to Mumbai one day
Yeah these routes r completely pilfered by emirates. Airindia would focus on Nairobi, johanasssberg,Kampala and few north African countries.
Currently only 2 Indian carriers serve Africa which are Air India serving Delhi-Nairobi route and Vistara serving the Mumbai-Mauritius route and that's kinda sad..
Air India doesn't need to compete with the Middle East Airlines - they need to provide reliable and convenient service from the cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi etc to more destinations in North America and Europe. Its very difficult to fly to Bangalore - one of India's leading cities to most European and North American destinations without wasting hours waiting for connections.
Also, why are all the Air India flights from Delhi or Mumbai? Most passengers from and to the Southern states shouldnt have to go the long way around when airports in Hyderabad, Bangalore etc have more than enough capacity and capabilities to handle the traffic.
Finally, I dont think there is a single non-stop flight from India to any South American city, which is quite shocking for an international airline.
There is no aircraft which can fly the route currently and not impose heavy losses for the airline given the current demand for this route
The connection is for more passengers .but rightfully said they need to fly direct to southern America maybe weekly twice .it's. shocking as many take long detours from Dubai or hongkong
I will definitely miss Vistara.
By 2028, Air India will be amongst top 3 global airlines in terms of quality & service.
Yeah, i think so too.
for SURE it can be, but only if they change their attitude from Airport Staff to all crew members...
@@SalmanKhan-kb9ln yes
@davischan4623 Your thoughts will not change the course of action.
Seriosuly doubt it.
2:40 Of all the cities in india, thanks for choosing mine for the example. 😊. Feels good to hear that being 4000 Kms away from home.
My pleasure 😊
Great to see I work at international airport and it’s great to see Air india 🇮🇳 taking over the aviation world
3:04 Actually these 2 cities were also served from India and Air India also served Delhi-Los Angeles route until 2006, I hope it resumes soon and Delta Air Lines served Atlanta-Delhi flights until 2008 or 2009, Atlanta-Mumbai route until 2008 and it resumed and ended again on 2011 or 2013 I guess and they also served Atlanta-Chennai route until 2008 or 2009 before replacing it with the New York JFK-Paris-Chennai route, which ended in 2012 or 2013... Atlanta-Delhi flights also resumed during 2014 I guess but they were pretty short-lived.
I think they should have kept Vistara as sub brand under Air India for premium segment, it would have been fresh compared to the old Air India image.
*It's India growth Story* 💪🇮🇳💪🇮🇳
An airline started by J.R.D. Tata, a pilot himself, was taken over by the government of India which acted like a bully, and over the next few years showed how incompetent it was at running a business. Moral of the story: government should mind its own business, and let people like Tata run their own business in a competent manner.
At 2:17 you mean "Qatar" instead of "Doha".
Get rid of old color scheme it has become synonymous with delay, bad service and huge image problem for air india. New color scheme will do some work to uplift the brand in general
Glad to see this. The planes also need a Livery change as well.
TCS can run their entire IT operations which is huge benefit for AIR INDIA…
I am confident, Air India will become a 5 star airlines in the very near future. Can’t live in the past. India itself is on the move forward. I look forward to taking to the skies on a modern airliner from my home country
Changing planes won’t do much, you need to change mindset of employees, better reservation system, accessible customer care, and also need stricter standards on board as well.
All of those things are virtually non-existent right now.
Fuel cost for Middle East carriers is major advantage which cannot be offset.
I'm curious whether there has been any initiative to develop Made-in-India airplanes, given Modi's aggressive push for Made-in-India products. Are there any existing structures or incentives in place to encourage this? For instance, could negotiations involve assembling parts of the planes in India to help with skill development and technology transfer? Additionally, do you think India's aviation push, combined with efforts to integrate tourism, has the potential to divert some traffic away from the UAE and other Gulf countries as transport hubs?
Even many highly developed countries can't make their own Aeroplanes. Its need world class engineers and infrastructure which currently India lacks.
Best part is the way she says TATAs 😂
Hoping for Hyderabad New York direct flight
Not only serving US direct flights but india aviation ministry has developed new local airports in small citites but these airports despite having huge demand doesn't have enough planes to fly to metro citites or south east nations directly. Such as deoghar International airport in deoghar jharkhand.
India🇮🇳
Proud of honest giant amazing Air India,👍🙏😊
Forget about Competition or brand, It didnt order any B777 or A380. Plus I feel with such a fleet, (Quantity>Quality>Maintainance and Care with a One Shot Order) Now the accidents and Crashes probability will Increase. Also considering the fact that its Air India(accidents) and mass order includes Boeing 737MAX(accidents) and A320NEO(no brand image). I think they don't give a damn about brand. As a business mindset Their Order will increase their market and profit just that it would still be hidden and infamous.
I want air india to start direct flight from all the majors cities around the world like Tokyo Sydney Chicago Los Angeles hong kong wellington Seattle especially from mumbai there are only 2 direct flight new york and San Francisco.
Well, the new wide bodies ordered by Air India are specially for these routes, however it would take a little bit of time for them to arrive and then to be implemented.
Travelled last month from USA, terrible experience. Longgggg way to go..
Before expanding they better improve the existing once and atleast make all the infotainment system working in the current aircrafts. Oh plus ensure the seats and food trays are cleaned after each trip.
LOVE FROM INDIA 🇮🇳
There will be a complete and gradual revamp of domestic and international flight routes as the new planes get delivered. More competition for international carriers for sure,
especially on direct non-stop routes.
I think Air India will be able to conquer the US Indian routes if they put the new planes
Honestly I prefer Vistara's design & branding over Air India's. Sad that its gonna go away after the merger
We are capable to expand aur india
Proud to be an Indian!!
Meanwhile Air India passengers are sill tapping on seat monitors that dont work on transcontinental flights and making sure to wear perfumed rain coats during the flight🤪
Kitchen was dirty kitchen manager he taste the from the big instead he put some buryani in the plate 😂
Really??😂😂
It's really needed to change Air India s logo and also it's color
Air India should change is livery n changed to same as Vistara...Purple n gold r very vibrant colours..Ths red and orange are too boring...
Trust me, the sale of Air India shoul have happened atleast a decade or two ago. Tatas are efficient businesspeople and the company wouldn't have plummeted to depths of hell, had they sold it earlier.
All well if it ends well... After the merger of all Tatas airlines and shares with Air India, I am sure Air India will soon become a premium brand like Ethihad or Singapore Airlines.
Will air india change name to air bharat?
They need a massive reinvestment in their soft product. They need to catch up with the times.
The Air India potential will be actualized only when the flying experience of the passengers is world class. New planes are just a part of the story.
Exactly!,
At the current place and fare they are losing customers very fast.
In fact they were a better experience under a loss making government company
Go Air India! Gov made it almost extinct.. But tata's actually working to keep it alive!
Almost every major state capital have iternational flight. Unfortunately Punjab is neglected. 70% Punjabis land at Delhi Airport because they have no choice as there are no international flight to Canada and USA from Amritsar and Chandigarh. It is just wastage of time. Air India must start from these airports as it will benefits thousand of passengers of the region. Chandigarh being the capital of Punabj and Haryana is also big hub for travellers to HP and J&K. Chandigarh should be given priority for international flight as it will benefit the whole region comprising Punjab, Haryana, HP and J&K besides Chandigarh. Hope TATA will look into the details.
2:15 The big three of Middle East: Emirates, Etihad, and Doha!
Not Doha. Qatar
By when can we realistically hope Air India reaches the standard of Singapore Airlines or Emirates?
I would say at least 10 years, or probably in 5 or 6 if the company really pushed the boundaries
bro said "tadas"
Air india needs to change the brand perception among air travellers ASAP. Starting with the livery. The tail livery doesn't look indian at all. Needs to be changed to something like mandala art or indian miniature painting style.
One man who can be credited with this whole turn of events is Narendra Modi . He ensured the most silent acquisition of a beleaguered government airline with plummeting losses and overloaded employees . He ensured the airline got privatised with pin drop silence . This was inconceivable some years ago . And needless to say with Tatas coming in Air india will be No.1 in the world very soon . Watch out Emirates , Singapore airlines and others
Vistara will be missed
Once indigo gets their A321XLR they'll do routes like DEL-LHR and DEL-HND
Flying to Heathrow as a LCC is a bad idea
8Hr in a LCC😐 BETTER I WILL DO A 1 STOP IN SINGAPORE TO GO TO HANEDA
Imagine that for 9 hours on the indigo's seat🥴😵
True its gonna be pretty bad if they don't increase the seat pitch!
@@utathyasarkar1014 scoot has a Singapore to Berlin. Really cheap and it is always full. I do understand it would be a tough journey, but price conscious Indians will jump in for it
Yea only France is benefiting from the order (Germany, UK, France, Spain = Airbus)
there is no major statement on fuel prices and Indian govt rules against airways. that is major challenging scenario. that points missed in this video
This is just quid pro quo b/w countries for technology transfer
Long Due !!
Air India shud put more frequent flights to Australia and US. .. it wil loot business
Yeah, I think the US will be the first location when the new plane arrives
By the time Air India starts receiving these plane war scenarios will be changed and who knows Indian planes also may not get access to Russian air space anymore.
New Air India is not only a privately managed most ethical business family in the world , but also supported by salt to software group, that runs some of the most loved hospitality brands like Taj , Vivanta, Ginger, TajSATS, ama, SeleQtions, Ginger, Qmin etc
All these brands can add to the synergy and experience of travel for passengers & staff
Too many factual errors in this report. Please do proper research or maybe this is paid marketing piece!!
Tara corporation sounds better than Taras (slang for titties in Spanish )
Air india under government control was mismanaged
It has too many employees
The planes purchased had kickbacks
They sold flight indian rights to middle eastern carriers for kickbacks
Now that air india is in private hands and there is a clean government in power we will see the revival of Air India in a big way
Hope so
Ekdam whopeless company aahe airinda
They are dreaming. Competition is good but the service Air India provides is crap, both customer service and infrastructure/reliability.
Sir it was owned by the government for all these years, so obviously it was poorly managed and you have air india what it is today…hopefully it will change at tatas helm
Super rich India intends to help struggling US and UK
😂😂
2:15 "The big three of middle east, Emirates, Etihad and Doha..." Doha is an airlines? Its Qatar Airways. Are you using ChatGPT to generate the text and funnelling this though another AI for voiceovers? Nice science spam video.
Air India cannot become a world-class airline like Emirates or Singapore because they are restricted by diplomatic troubles with Pakistan and China. Air India's transit hubs like Bombay, Delhi, and Calcutta are off-limits to regional countries like Pakistan and to some extent China.
As always, a Pakistani can be identified by his sheer nonsensical talks.
@@Aashu299 Dummy, I am not a Pakistani, nor I ever was. You’re a racist obviously.
SCARY 😂
I have a very bad experience with this airline's ground crew at the airport. Very arrogant and unprofessional. I lodged complain also. I hope you have trained them better now since you have new management.
It was cheap politics of nehru and indira that was mainly responsible for our downfall. The government should focus solely on administration.
Nehami flight rescheduled karat asatat
@3:28 "people doesn't" is incorrect grammar!! As a journalist you need to proofread your scripts better.

Where are the Modi Indians talking about “Akhand Bharat”?
I don't like colour design and maharaja cartoon
Me too, but they will change it though.
Air india needs a reformation, from aesthetic and color combination. The interior looks bad and cheap. The plane's body design is also bad. In all, the maharajah theme is old and tbh a disrespect to a Maharajah status.
I agree, they for sure need a brand reformation and i think they are currently working on that as well.
Interiors I agree but outer body it's cool not bad..
Logo and name will be change
@@Imparth2995 Name will not change, idk about logo but the livery is going to change and will be unveiled with new interior design around mid 2024.
Interiors yes but the livery is classy. I wouldn't change that
Air India was also the leading airline in the 1970s. But after the government took control of Air India in 1951, the airline started falling after a few decades. Now, the Tata group has bought it and it is coming back. Even Singapore airlines used to visit Air India to know how they operate so well worldwide. Also, it was created by the Tata group and is in the hands of Tata again.
I can't wait to see Air India coming back and ruling the aviation industry.
Yeah it will be fun watching air india rise up again. Also, great info there buddy.
Thanks
Yes , I can't too
Air India didn't really have anything to do the Founding of Singapore Airlines in the 1970s.
It did not fall after 1951, though government took control, still JRD Tata was at the helm. Downfall was from 1990s
Back in the days Singapore airlines etc used to visit Air India facilities in India JUST TO KNOW HOW THEY OPERATE SO GOOD ACROSS WORLD,no doubt those days AIR INDIA WAS AMONG TOP 5 premium CARRIERS in the world.
Actually that's why Tata's and Singapore Airlines have a very good relationship. They both started Vistara and now SIA will have 25% stake in the merged Air India.
Now, it is a Honeymoon time for Tata name, ownership and Mgmt. If urination, bad serviice on air as well as on ground continue, it will drown! For sure
Tata sia partner ship put air india back and gave the confidence back to rule the international routes .party time over for middleeatern airlines
Apart from more planes and expanded service, Air India needs to severely ramp up its onboard product and standard of service if it wants to compete with the ME3 and Singapore Airlines which are the industry leaders in products and standards of service
Yeah, cabin improvement is a must for competing, and i think they'll unveil the new product with the delivery of their new planes.
Air india have also signed a MOU with Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines have 30% stake of share in air india
And 70% stake holds TATA Group
@@abhi_singh337 it's 25.1%
So India is creating jobs in USA, France and UK with this order. The total order value of 68 Billion USD means 15% GDP of countries like Norway or GDP equivalent of countries like Lithuania!
It's also creating jobs in India. The TATA Group plans to hire 4000+ employees inc. 900+ pilots and 3000+ ground staff after this deal.
True, it is the best time for indians looking for a job in aviation.
Those are list prices and they probably are paying half that. That's normal for such a large order. So probably in actual money changing hands you're looking at about 35 billion. That revenue will take up to 10 years to come in since it will take that long to take so many aircraft. They don't get paid 90+% of the revenue until delivery.
Many of those jobs will be done by Indians abroad and Indian offices in Bengaluru. Aircraft manufacturing isn't a self sufficient business that a single country does.
There is another way to think about it: Tata is doing this to capture a chunk of the international market and to prevent foreign airlines from competing in India's domestic market. So in the future when Indian Aerospace industry reaches enough technological maturity to build airliners comparable to Western ones, Tata's airlines will be a big customer and then we will get to see an even more massive order placed by Tata for Indian planes.
Things happen in steps. Rome was not built in a day.
great to see air india on the up, the air india ceo is a new zealander so hopefully one day they will have direct flights india to nz, here's hoping ,regards , Bruce
More competition and Cheap fair is what I am excited about
Cheap fares definitely cos u avoid connections and extra docking fees but unlike emirates who wage price war airindia can't afford to reduce too much.
Hopefully Air India's improvement makes them a decent competitor with the middle eastern ones. Any competition is a good competition.
The old "MAHARAJA" will back under TATA management
Widebody of Vistara will go to Airindia while Narrowbody will go to Airindia express and AIX
thousands of orders to only these 2 companies tend me to think that why there only 2 commercial aircraft manufacturers????? answer is that these 2 companies prevent other companies to develop aircraft through Lobbying to keep Duopoly.
Well, that's interesting
Well back then indonesia try to join the market by providing narrow body and non jet aircraft but unfortunaly asia crisis happen and imf want indonesia to closed that factory if indonesian want to borrowed they money
*As they say, it's india's decade.*
Yeah, it looks like it is.
If Air India wants to make it presence on International level, it has to accept total transformation, needs to change livery, cabin decor and service quality has to improve and maintain, cabin crews must be presentable and knowledgeable. On number of occasions I have experience uncomfortable seats, uncleanliness everywhere. I want Air India to be ⭐ star again but it has to pull socks up. All the best Air India.
Nothing wrong with the livery. Not sure why companies waste extraordinary money repainting all their planes. I’m not going to fly air India on its paint scheme. I will fly of for service, price, and modern aircraft
The problem with Air India starts right from trying to book a ticket. Every facet of this Air Line is a stumbling block. Customer Service is a joke. Ground Staff are ill informed and rude. Similar issues afflict the Cabin Staff. They NEVER make eye contact with you! If you want to lodge a complaint, every body disappears. The recent incident where a man urinated on an elderly Lady during a flight beggars belief. And the fact that she was made to sit on the same soiled seat is horrific. The man responsible was let go scot-free without any charges being filed. The Toilets on Air India are filthy, no attempt is made to clean it up. As the flight progresses, some toilets are locked! The interior of the Aircrafts are shabby and unclean. Food service is mediocre at best. The Cabin Staff are not trained to properly serve a meal, even in business class. And are nowhere to be seen once the meal service is over. The Tatas now have a boil on their backside! It will be interesting to see how the Maharaja can be revived, he has been on life support for decades. The only smart thing that the BJP Government has done is to shove this problem on some body else’s head!!
Airline is a tricky business. Many reputed names have gone belly up ever so often. Air India comes with excess baggage of public sector culture & financial pitfalls. While we wish all success to the new team, we know decks are loaded against this entity that has had troubled past. Our fervent hope is that we the taxpayers are spared yet another haircut via public sector bank NPA.
Air India is a prime example why nationalisation does not work in every sector and fall prey to corruption.
