Saturday morning coffee with a cobbler video. Life is good. Sometimes it's a Trenton/Heath video, sometimes it's a Bedo's video. In either case, it's makes for a fine Saturday morning tradition. God bless you, Steve. Praying your friend turns up well and healthy.
So, noobie question here, why replacing the welt? Looks good from here. Is it to make the whole job last longer since it may create a weak point or just for aesthetic?
Boots that arrive for repair at Steve's leave the shop looking better than the day they were bought. Little things like removing build-up from the eyelets are the kind of attention to detail I wish more people practiced.
I was about to close YT and take a shower, but then....Oo! Redwing restoration! Now I'm 23 minutes behind schedule! 😆 Thanks for another awesome video, Steve! ✌
I very much like that your aesthetic talent matches that of your craftsmanship. A well made item enhances its beauty and vice versa, and you definitely achieve that concept. Thanks.
Those look awesome. I've restored and re-welted and resoled a couple of pairs of vintage moc toes for myself, and converted them from a lug unit sole to a Christy sole. I put a full thickness leather sole on them as a midsole with a deep channel for the stitches so that I can sand them and glue new wedge soles on them several times before having to take them completely apart again. I learned that trick from you. I'd give my left nut for a sole stitching machine though, lol. Doing everything by hand is brutal.
It's amazing how similar our trades seem to be when it comes to others in the same trade and customer relations. It's a regular occurrence to have someone bring in a piece of jewelry where it was clear the previous jeweler either didnt know any better or just didnt want to put in the time. When it comes to the actual customers, I always have a little giggle when they call on the phone and say something like, "I have a ring that is broken, can you fix it?". Most of the time I will tell them to hold the ring up to the phone so I can see........some actually do it. In our businesses, there is cheap and fast and then there's right and dependable.
Best channel AND person on UA-cam. I love your energy and your humbleness. You are blessed with 2 golden hands, and your work speaks for it. It isn't only the craftsmanship we enjoy watching but you as the person you are also. Have a blessed day, man !
I appreciate your videos, I've been watching you for years now, i still have to send my grandpa's sherpa, been tight but with new president hopefully things get better
Thanks for sharing steve. I love the workmanship. I see the passion your father had for quality in you. It's been awhile but as always much love and God bless.
I just recently found your channel. I have been trying to catch up on your videos. I am amazed at your skill and persistence in perfection. I remember my dad always said to take pride in your work and give it your all. I can see that you really love what you do. I hope that there are young people out there that like working with their hands and want to continue in a remarkable career. These type of skills are handed down generation to generation. Loved this video with that bolt of color. Keep up the excellent work. We'll be watching.🥾🤩
Steve, you are an inspiration. Over the last few days, I treated my cracked old leather Chesterfield sofa. Nothing fancy, just a couple of coats of Kiwi shoe polish then some conditioning cream. I doubt you'd be impressed but by my standards ... hey!
I've been watching for a while now, and tonight, as I was scrolling before sleep, I saw a new upload and was like, "Woo gotta watch this video before sleep" 😊 Love watching your work, everything always turns out beautiful 🩵
I'm with ya on the rain I often set on our deck during the rain (the deck has a roof over it). keep up the great work - always look forward to your videos!
20:23 Those Olfa knifes are real nice. When you a ready to buy blades, get the Olfa black(blued) steel blades made in Japan they are the sharpest blades ever, much sharper than the shiny steel ones. I found some clearance packs of 18mm 5 packs (genuine Olfa) at HD last year for for like .50¢ or something crazy cheap like that. Cool job on the Red Wing moctoe boots, the green looks good.👍🏻👌🏻
Great job my late grandfather was a cobbler he came to the U.S. from Italy and had a shoe repair shop till the late Sixties he would say great job with his strong Itaian actsent

Dan The Cobbler is good too !
YES! These 3 plus Wyatt and Dad, Terry Kim and Siroeno Yosui are my relax time!
Agreed.

Ever watch The Elegant Oxford?

My purple stitched ones you did for me are still going strong!!!! Love seeing this type of work.

*I like it when it rains too; when I was growing up in So Cal--rainy days were a treat!*
The rain washes the crap out of the air and makes it easier to breathe.
