Best part of the Jericho/Rebecca angle is after she got stretchered out behind the titantron, she sat up and said to Jericho and said "Was that the best you got?" Thus killed the anger Shawn was feeling at the moment enough to cool off.
I thought every match in a ppv named for a gimmick match was that match? like every match at hell I a cell is a hell in a cell and every match at TLC is a TLC match.
@@cjvaye99 Not every match, but gimmick ppvs themselves are the problem. It really takes the significance or uniqueness out of a stipulation if majority of the card are all the same match type. More often than not it makes the matches blur together and become forgettable

Love retro ups and down. Always bring a bit of nostalgia to my evening 😊 and I find you so entertaining Simon. Not sure if you have done it yet but could your next retro be on backlash 2000
I was listening to Opie and Anthony on the radio last night and JBL was a guest on one of the episodes. He was very funny, and I loved his rapport with Rich Vos who's a comedian. Also for retro ups and downs, let's do Royal Rumble 2003.
Simon, clearly underneath a wrestling ring is an infinite bag of holding. That's how there's so much miscellaneous hardware underneath the ring. Or, they set up a portal directly to a special hardware store and just shout commands and get handed stuff. That'd be a hilarious movie actually. A couple of people have to work special Sunday shifts just to hand the stuff through the portal, and they inevitably screw something up so you just get a wrestler's head and arm come through punching one of the people.
15:00 Simon you act like Cena has never hit a top rope move. He actually wasn't going for a top rope missile dropkick. He was going for his famasser legdrop, which he used pretty frequently
I have a soft spot for this pay per view. This was the first WWE DVD I got. It's a very enjoyable show. As for next week, and I'm sorry for one very specific reason, how about Armageddon 2006.
This has to be one of my top 5 Summerslams of all time. A firm #3. Jeff Vs MVP, Beth & Santino vs Mickie & Kofi in a winner's takes all was decent and THAT Hell In A Cell!
it was at least when he debuted. some times guys change their finisher name like cena and christian but when I was watching it was called the playmaker.
Undertaker throwing a guy down through the ring is throwing them "to Hell", Hornswoggle lives under the ring, meaning Hornswaggle is a demon from Hell.
The feud between HBK & Jericho in 2008 was absoultely amazing to find out from Jericho himself it wasn’t supposed to last that long easily 1 of the best storylines in WWE history
I remember watching Summerslam 2008 with my best friend, card was forgettable at this point but i do remember taker winning the match and then edge getting up and undertaker then sent him to “hell”, that was great 👍🏻
Being from Indianapolis, I had tickets to this show, at the time I was 9 years old, my mom ended up working and we didn’t go. I think she picked up a shift because she wasn’t a Wrestling fan at the time and didn’t want to go
The whole thing about rebecca and jericho, interesting fact : when she got backstage and saw chris he went to apologize and she asked him if that was all he had before laughing.
2008 was a DAMN good year for WWE Pay-Per-Views. Even the weakest out of the bunch (Survivor Series and Cyber Sunday) were decent. Hell, I think both TNA and ROH were putting out bangers here and there in 2008.
I think I remember this. I also remember that my first Raw (when I was 12) was the Monday Night Raw where JBL scolded Randy Orton for winning the title in the way he did at No Way Out 2007 to hype up the fatal four way match with Randy vs Cena vs triple H vs JBL. Lol
I dunno if I buy that Batista or Cena would’ve suffered if Brock didn’t leave. Cena was on the upswing anyway by the time Brock left, and if Brock stuck around, Cena probably would’ve just beat him at WM21 instead of Bradshaw. The Evolution stuff on Raw would’ve happened anyway, so Batista wouldn’t have suffered either.
This is also the year that triple h had a lengthy another lengthy title reign on sd as WWE champion andnd he held that belt from April all the way to November and how can you forget the infamous Jr being sent to SmackDown live on air and he had no idea that he was going to SmackDown so when he reacted that was his general reaction
I remember this ppv for three reasons Chris Jericho punching Shawn Michaels wife legit and I give it to her because she told Jericho is that the best you got that's how you know Shawn Michaels family is tough this was the pay-per-view that Batista and John Cena got hurt doing that power bomb spot and the legendary edge versus undertaker hell in a cell match and this was the pay-per-view that they realized that they made a mistake making CM punk as a world champion because he defended against JBL and they didn't treat him like a world champion after he cashed in on edge
Also this was Christian's final year in TNA because he had to go back to WWE because his daughter was being born and the money that he made in TNA wasn't enough and how can you also forget this was Jeff Hardy's year
Best part of the Jericho/Rebecca angle is after she got stretchered out behind the titantron, she sat up and said to Jericho and said "Was that the best you got?" Thus killed the anger Shawn was feeling at the moment enough to cool off.
That Edge vs Undertaker Hell In A Cell match is one of my favourite matches ever also their rivalry is one of the best ever and really underrated
Yeah edge is my favourite feel like he was underrated till his injury or a little earlier
Ah yes back when the Hell in the Cell was reserved for proper blood fueds and not turned into a gimmick show where we see 2-3 cell matches in 1 night.
I thought every match in a ppv named for a gimmick match was that match? like every match at hell I a cell is a hell in a cell and every match at TLC is a TLC match.

These retro ups and downs allow me to relive my childhood and pure love of wrestling!
Give Simon a raise!
Just give Simon the whole company
@@JUnior-ot1xu YES. He deserves it. He deserves even more. But this is the least they should do
you mean give him a up? :P
"Well, actually" we couldn't have Jeff vs MVP. Damn those production lead times lol
Would be just fun to learn how long in advance you are recording these
Survivor series 05 when raw and smackdown head to head was actually good
TNA Destination X 2008 so Simon can watch Shark boy and Curry man vs 3D as well as Samoa Joe, Christian and Nash vs Angle, Styles and Tomko.
Wrestlemania X...(Macho Man vs. Crush, Bret vs. Owen, HBK vs. Razor Ramon ladder match IC Titles, Luger vs. Yoko / Yoko vs. Bret. Doink/Dink vs. Bam Bam/Luna And MORE!)
Owen v Bret & HBK v Razor... all-time classics.. the rest wrestlemania was ok
2008 was my first consistent year with watching pro wrestling Jeff Hardy cm punk and Shawn Michaels were my top guys
Your show just genuinely makes me happy.
You're a true ray of sunshine, and just radiate happiness.
Love retro ups and down. Always bring a bit of nostalgia to my evening 😊 and I find you so entertaining Simon. Not sure if you have done it yet but could your next retro be on backlash 2000
My vote for next Retro: No Way Out 2004, Eddie’s first WWE championship over Brock Lesnar
That's done
I always find it funny when Simon talks about Santino, because he always calls him Santina without realizing, Lol.
I was listening to Opie and Anthony on the radio last night and JBL was a guest on one of the episodes. He was very funny, and I loved his rapport with Rich Vos who's a comedian. Also for retro ups and downs, let's do Royal Rumble 2003.
"This first match can still take place in 2021" MVP vs Jeff Hardy 😬
Not really since Jeff is no longer in WWE
@@Hitomora yeah that why I added the 😬
Whoops. Awkward.
Definitely was filmed before Jeff Hardy’s release lol.
Love these retro ups n downs

Gonna keep trying for No Mercy 2001 for the next retro.
Hell In A Cell 2009 - Had DX vs Legacy, Punk vs Taker, and of course John Cena vs Randy Orton.
15:00 Simon you act like Cena has never hit a top rope move. He actually wasn't going for a top rope missile dropkick. He was going for his famasser legdrop, which he used pretty frequently
I was there! Incredibly fun for my 16-year-old self!
Edit: and I was there for Sid’s return. Fantastic!
Great review Simon this ppv was good especially Hell in a Cell next week should be judgment day 2001
Will there be an Ups and Downs for ROH's Final Battle 2021 since it's their end (for now)? :'(
I have a soft spot for this pay per view. This was the first WWE DVD I got. It's a very enjoyable show.
As for next week, and I'm sorry for one very specific reason, how about Armageddon 2006.
Love this era of WWE! next could you either do Armageddon 2006 or Judgement Day 2007?
Armageddon 2006, yes please.
@Simon, please have an intro music package for Retro Ups & Downs 😁
This has to be one of my top 5 Summerslams of all time. A firm #3. Jeff Vs MVP, Beth & Santino vs Mickie & Kofi in a winner's takes all was decent and THAT Hell In A Cell!
Finally Yesss the one pay per view I wanted thank u Simon Miller and whatculturewrestling 😁😁
The PPV the shield faced in a triple threat match for the last time
"Landed on some concrete and probably surrounded by Kendo sticks". Love the subtlety on that one Simon.
I'd like to see a retro ups and downs for ROH final battle 2018 especially since ROH is on Hiatus
Please, for the love of Wizard in the Sky,
SUMMER SLAM 92!
One of the best. This is getting an up.
I'm still pushing Wrestlemania 21 for Retro Ups and Downs!
The best presenter on UA-cam no cap Simon youre a 🐐
Wait, I thought MVP's overdrive was called the Playmaker?
it was at least when he debuted. some times guys change their finisher name like cena and christian but when I was watching it was called the playmaker.
It was. It was the Overdrive with Randy Orton, and the Playmaker with M.V.P.
That's what I was thinking, pretty sure you're right dude!
Undertaker throwing a guy down through the ring is throwing them "to Hell", Hornswoggle lives under the ring, meaning Hornswaggle is a demon from Hell.
This was the first PPV that occurred after I started watching wrestling. Yeah, this one has a special spot in my heart.
The next retro ups & downs should be HALLOWEEN HAVOC 1991. The ppv with a cagematch could, CHAMBER OF HORRORS!!!
Edge vs Undertaker was the first Hell in a Cell match I saw and I love it
2006-2008 WWE… good times!
I'd like to see something from ECW, like a PPV or a great episode. Alternatively, we could have something from ROH, since what happened
Heatwave 98, perhaps???
The feud between HBK & Jericho in 2008 was absoultely amazing to find out from Jericho himself it wasn’t supposed to last that long easily 1 of the best storylines in WWE history

Repo Man! …was at This Tuesday in Texas, how about giving it a review?
ALL IN should be next, the pay per view that started the revolution 👀🙌🏽
Pretty sure Simon did Ups and Downs for All In when it happened.
@@leeshwan903 he did

Ground zero 97. Shawn and taker right before Bad Blood.
I was a kid in the late 2000s, grew up loving the undertaker and John Cena, wouldn’t be watching WWE today if it wasn’t great in 2008
The Summerslam where John Cena broke his neck, and miraculously returns at Survivor Series in Boston. That was an even better return.
One of the last ppvs I remember coming to Indianapolis. I remember taking a bathroom break during the henry vs hardy Match
I was there at this ppv this was my 1st live ppv as a kid
I Remember going to this even like it was yesterday

12:50 starts easily of the funniest situations that Simon has ever come up with.
Simon should remember that under the ring is where Hornswoggle lives, so even if it is not hell, it is the next closest thing
The playmaker was MVPs move
Summerslam 2008 is the first PPV in the "The PG Era", which means no cussing, no blading.
Ohhh maaaannn!!! Good stuff!!

1:32 How far back are these recorded 🙃
I always loved the Henry black gold Phoenix ECW Championship belt. Made for bigger guys without the gaudy gold.
Retro ups and downs WrestleMania 8. Hart vs Piper, Savage vs Flair and Hogan vs Sid
The hell in a cell match in my top 5 favorites for hell in a cell matches thought it was great had everything even ladders
Summerslam 1992?
The first sound of the video is my new notification sound.
Ummm Jeff was just released this week. Must have recorded this last week or so huh?
He's also moving around quite a bit and said he had surgery this week so yea. defo recorded a bit ago. But hey, it's retro ups and downs.
Mvp move was called the playmaker not the drive by

I’m surprised Simon didn’t mention it but when Batista Batista bombed Cena out of the air , he legitimately broke his neck
1:30 unfortunately it couldn’t pal
The last WWE PPV I ever watched. It sucked that the HIAC match wasn't bloody but the match was still really good.
I was there! My second PPV! It was awesome!
SUMMER SLAM 92 AT WEMBLEY STADIUM UK 🤘 Retro ups n downs BULLDOG V BRETT HEART IC TITLE
Simon you also forgot to mention Samoa Joe was the TNA impact world champion around this Time and the main event Mafia was forming

armageddon 2006. 4 team lader match, kane vs mvp inferno match, undertaker vs mr Kennedy last ride match
1:30 well you realise it can't happen anymore coz Jeff is gone. Sorry to break your heart simon, but thank you Jeff. Get well soon.🙏
HBK and Y2J. Their segment went full TV-14 while it was TV-PG.
Simon forgot to mention that the top rope powerbomb on Cena broke his neck.
Guess this was recorded before the Jeff hardy fiasco

There should be a theme song for retro ups and downs
Should definitely do Wrestlemania 22 next
Judgement day 02 👍👍
Next Suggestion: WWF Wrestlemania 6
Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior
Champion vs. Champion
Title vs. Title
Also this was Christian's final year in TNA because he had to go back to WWE because his daughter was being born and the money that he made in TNA wasn't enough and how can you also forget this was Jeff Hardy's year
Suggestion: Wrestlemania 28 please and thank you
It may be obscure, but I think Simon would enjoy TNA Turning Point 2009. AJ vs Daniels vs Joe Round 2 is somehow better than the first one.
MVP's move was the playmaker !!
A match that could take place right now.... that aged well
Please do Final Battle that just happened
Halloween Havock 91 needs to be next
Simon missed the chance to say that Edge hit Undertaker in his creatures of the night.
Well this was recorded before Jeff’s release I’m guessing
would like you to up downs Wrestlemania 6--Hogan vs Warrior title for title--also andre the giant last wrestlemania match
Edge vs undertaker hell in a cell was brutal
