@divijkm An inescapable consequence of history perhaps. But laws of economics change with mode of production. In Feudalism, absolute stability and order were posited, the rule of kings and authority of religion. In capitalism the necessity is competitive fitness. However we are becoming able of a new mode too. A slave society where machines are the slaves. informed debate and social benefit as criteria. Robots cheaper & more dexterous than ppl will be with us soon. We need to think differently.
Many of the older countries in Europe and Aisa have class systems. The royalty/upper class, and the working class. They have different life paths. The upper class go to good schools and continue their upper class. The working class cannot get into the good schools and continue in their working class. The U.S. has a middle group, the middle class represents the American dream that if you work hard, you can move up to a higher social and economic class. Social programs run against this dream.

Getting people to care about a correctly identified problem in a democracy should be seen as answering the problem.
