Tilt Trailer Tip: In order to know when the backass of the trailer touches the ground, install a small 2-3" bubble level in the cab with double-sided tape and just mark where the bubble ends up when the back of the trailer touches down.
This trailer is so impressive!!!... I saw one the other day and talked to the owner about how versatile this thing is!... Unbelievable such a game changer for production and not killing yourself day in and day out!
If I remember correctly you received a dewalt drill with those binders that had instructions on how to use and to only use the provided drill to properly tighten binders as it was run the slack out on #2 setting then tighten/torque with #1 setting! I know when used properly those binders are amazing!
Right, I remember that. I wonder if he's even using an impact if he's not using the original drill gun. If he's using the original, then I'm guessing user error like you.
I worked for almost 20 years at a local water department and we would go sometimes three or four quick jobs in 8hrs. We had a full size backhoe and the binders that you put a cheater bar on the handle for a long time. They finally went with the ratchet binder. I can say the ratchet ones and the ones that you tighten are a whole lot safer! We never had a incident with them but heard some horror stories about them! They can also come loose. I always wrapped the rest of the chain around them! That's a nice trailer!
Hey, Brother! Hope you, your family and crew had an awesome Independence Day celebration! God bless. Man, I love that trailer! I don't need one but, yeah, if I had one, I'd FIND things to do with it just to show off how cool it is!
That trailer is BA! I can just imagine how easy it would be to use for so many things. Especially when you have to do things by hand and only have that trailer. It would be super useful on a job and make it much easier! Just a tip if you raise the boom a little on your skid-steer when backing up you can always see where the back of it is from either side. I ran a big CAT skid for about 4000 hours total running it everyday and that thing had no visibility backing up compared to any other skid lol. And I ran many more skids other than that one. But You will be way more confident backing up if you raise your boom so you can see better. And use your mirror the best you can. I see so many people run them that don't even look backwards at all lol. It's so dangerous doing that but most people do it because it's hard to see. I had to learn to be extremely proficient at backing up with them because I would drive on new asphalt a lot or up very steep hills on commercial jobs, And you couldn't turn on new asphalt like normal or you would tear it up especially in the heat is very fragile lol. And if you turn suddenly coming down a steep hill and not know where you're going or where the back of your machine is you will roll it or crash or kill someone. At least practice backing off your trailer lol.
" I had to learn to be extremely proficient at backing up with them because I would drive on new asphalt a lot "- so true- new asphalt just tears like paper
Was that 2 of the tiedown hole plugs that broke @8:22? I saw black pieces rolling out of the trailer after hearing them pop, I would assume the were put in backwards….from the outside in?
Stan you are right back up steep hills and up on to trailers the weight is on the back of skid loaders to create better break out force and to counter the weight of the bucket
Stan, you could put a small button under the ass end of the tilt trailer, when it touches the ground, have a small blinking light come on in the front of the trailer. You could install yourself, most likely.
I have a tiltdeck deck over trailer. But I had a soft tilt cylinder installed to mitigate the typical slamming. I can adjust the flow to make the tilt go fast, slow or block off to lock deck up. I love the trailer. Only wish it was a bit longer and higher capacity.
I dont haul enough to warrant those binders. I have a both snap and ratchet binders. I prefer snaps on stuff with tires so you can squat the tires but ratchets when hauling logs or implements. Maybe just back on so when unloading you can see the trl rear touchdown
Living in Lake Tahoe Ca./Nev. back in the 70's, seeing full size backhoes in the dump bed of 10 wheelers was a common sight. I watched one being loaded without ramps. From flat ground to the bed. They either roaded them or put them in a 10 wheeler. almost no one used trailers.
Stanley--you forgot to chock the wheels. The entire load not moving (forward, back) is relying on that little hunk of metal called the Park clog in the trucks transmisson. Also setting the trucks parking brake will help but not if the rear wheels come off the ground when your loading. Loaded one day on a slight incline and the whole thing started moving away from me. Best is to have someone apply the regular brakes on the vehicle. Chock, chock chock!!
That’s an awesome trailer. You were unloading it talking about not being able to tell when the trailer hits the ground. If you’re using the same loader in it a lot you could just put a little level in the loader, just drive the loader up in it when the trailer is all the way down and get a little cheap stick on level and put it at level at that point then when you’re rocking the trailer back on that level you’ll know you’re on the ground.
Drill tightens the binders better also a small charging station with a small inverter with room for the drill and charger with extra batteries and a extra socket and monkey wrench as grandpa used to say. As always good luck and God Bless.
Very cool. Love that remote feature. Run non ethanol gas in that engine, and she will always start for ya. Is it ok to put that much weight on the rear trailer axle when loading the skidd? the tires really flattened down.
That trailer is looking better every time you show it. Was your truck a 3/4 ton or heavy half? I was amazed that did not lift your truck off the ground.
This trailer is awesome! The gift that keeps on giving! I hope you had a fantastic day! We grilled some bison burgers and they were delicious! Are you gonna watch fireworks tonight, or have you already?
Hold on... You're just using the dumper like a tilt-deck! I thought you were going to walk it up onto the deck like it was a fixed deck-over. I want my money back! :p
I think it's some strain on the back axle, probably no more than the ramps would be. I would have some leave springs handy in case they get broken. Don't know if I like the treadmill to park on, no grip, you would absolutely have to chain it down in that trailer. I like my BWise Ultimate Dump Trailer, but I admit for loading pallets this is better. If My BWise had fold down sides so I could load palettes from the side, that would be even more ultimate.
Stan, question... If the skid-loader, or whatever small machine, wasn't running right, would you be able to load/unload with the belt if you could get it onto the edge of it? What's the limits of that?
Stan the trailer works well don’t know about durability at hinge point looks like very high wear area like to see actually attached can’t remember in a previous video. As for pushing over trees from past experiences use a set of forks push tree trunk between forks can steer tree in direction wanted easier than a plain bucket
Hey Stan, What skid steer would you buy/recommend between SVL 75 and the ASV RT-75? I know you hve lots of experience with both models and I have dealers of each close to me. Thanks!
You want to make sure the ass end of your truck doesnt come off the groud,as you parking brake is on the rear hubs! Ive actually seen that hapoen a couple times!
Loading a skiddy on "dump trailer" without ramps would be the proper thumbnail I thought you were gonna use a regular trailer thats a challenge this is actually easier than a trailer with ramps lol
It kind of is. This was my first time trying it on this trailer. it was a bit tricky to drive up precisley as I lowered the trailer using the remote lol
