So off we go and nearly everyone we interacted with within that city seemed mistrustful of us and unfriendly and to top it off the guys from the Mansfield shop spent their time propping up shovels and watched us work in 100+degree heat, not helping at all. I and the rest of the guys from our shop agreed Mansfield is frickin weird and couldn't wait to leave and would never agree to come back. I don't know about the rest of Ohio but Mansfield was a bizarre experience. (Enter Rod Serling)😂

best advice from a life member of Michigan born and raised in northern burbs of Detroit, stay out of Detroit period...night or day ... drive around and use the west roads like 275 . and never ...ever stop for gas !! if you have to drive through, just keep going and don't stop . Most of us Michiganders don't even consider Detroit part of our state . we tried to sell it Canada but we couldn't afford what Canada wanted ... :( There is a real Michigan beyond Detroit !!!
You aren't wrong...car jackings are so common that if there's no traffic coming you can run red lights and not get ticketed. Cops around Detroit (Flint as well) generally ignore it for this reason.
You're right about there being Michigan outside of the tri county area (Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties) Born and raised in Dearborn, moved to Grand Rapids in '77 at nineteen years old, and I'm STILL introduced like this, "Meet Clint, he's from Detroit." My wife did that after we'd been married for twenty years. That'll probably end up on my tombstone.
How about guaranteed? It's often pronounced Gar un teed. My family moved to Farmington in 1967 and my parents went to the Sears in Livonia Mall to buy trash cans. The salesman pointed out a molded plastic model that was "Gar un teed for 10 years." Coming from Kentucky we had to ask what he said again! Former president Gerald R Ford did a TV commercial for Boy Scouts many years ago. In the commercial, he says "when a boy becomes a scout, there's no Gar un tee he'll grow up to become president but stranger things have happened."
Roughly 90% of the party stores in Metro Detroit are owned by Chaldeans (Christian Iraqis). In California, about 80% of the donut shops are owned by Cambodians. Across the US, over 50% oft the nail salons are owned by Vietnamese people and 42% of the hotels and motels are owned by Gujarati Indians.
Sorry fellow Michiganders, but I hate vernors (or rather ginger ale more specifically) and I don't know anyone else who drinks it either. I'll take a Faygo rock & rye over anything else you got any day of the week though! Also, in regards to language, you can add that calling the night before Halloween devil's night can instantly place you as being from Michigan. Even just having a name for that time and it being a "thing" is very uncommon actually.

After I grew up it sounded weird to me - maybe it's because I'm now estranged from my mother - 11 years, now! 😆 Anyway, it's creepy-sounding to me, now.
I haven't lived in Chicago since 1968 and I still sound like I live there - very strong Midwestern dialect, I guess...
Thanks!! I don't think "Mummy" is a Michigan thing... certainly not a thing in my family! 😄
@@PaulWolfert So glad to hear that! When my mother calls - since I never answer the phone, she always leaves a msg that starts out, "This is your Mum." 😖😖😖😖😖
I live in Michigan
YES IT IS TRUE!
I want to know ALL the things!
You already know all the things!
Hilarious content👍, I am from Kalamazoo and many years ago the industrial waste company I worked for agreed to help out a sister union shop in Mansfield, OH.
clean a foundry.
Mdot does have a number to call
Very accurate
😄😄
Noticed this unwritten rule especially in metro Detroit: Everyone drives like hell when it snows but slows down in the rain.
We drive fast in the snow because that's when the potholes are all filled in and the roads are actually smooth for a little while.
There is a famous episode of Seinfeld where Newman and Kramer wanted to drive returnables from New York to Michigan to make money.
Detroit has tons of restaurants
Vernors was awesome. But now that it's made by Pepsi its gross. When I was a kid I lived in honor Michigan.
There was a war between Michigan and Ohio for the bay at the border of the two states
Ahhhh. Makes sense!
@@PaulWolfert We gave up Toledo and Northern Ohio and got the whole U. P. in exchange I call that real win.
Ahhhhhhhhhh
Hmmm...I've never heard of a Michigan left we call it a Dutch left due to Holland, MI being full of them.
from holland and i’ve never of any one call it a dutch left
@@urmum_vineboom Hmmm...Maybe it's not common anymore or maybe out-of-towners like me use it.
I lived in Holland briefly many years ago and haven't visited in year's so maybe it's not as common as I thought.
Ope, to me, is a Mix of Oh! and Oops!
Vernors in Florida and Alabama don't taste the same. I think they're knock offs!
You didn't mention Koegle's hot dogs and their tasty snap. Or snappy taste? Dunno.
I have a friend from Italy, and that’s exactly how he described where he was from! He’s from the heel 😂
😂😂 that's amazing!
Sub to this guy, this guys amazing!
best advice from a life member of Michigan born and raised in northern burbs of Detroit, stay out of Detroit period...night or day ... drive around and use the west roads like 275 . and never ...ever stop for gas !! if you have to drive through, just keep going and don't stop .
100 % correct left MI 25 yrs ago now in WV.
How’s the job market?
great!
Horrible!
Can u talk about the weed laws
I was shocked when I got a quote for car insurance a few days back - twice what I'm paying in Vermont! Michigan wanted $24/month to insure my car!
That’s super cheap! I was paying 260 a month for full coverage, and 105 a month for plpd!
What car insurance?
@@Jade25s I'm using Geico but others we comparatively cheap.
Have you done videos on lexington?
Hello Keith how are you doing today

I have lived in Michigan Age 8-13 and 16-44
Roughly 90% of the party stores in Metro Detroit are owned by Chaldeans (Christian Iraqis). In California, about 80% of the donut shops are owned by Cambodians. Across the US, over 50% oft the nail salons are owned by Vietnamese people and 42% of the hotels and motels are owned by Gujarati Indians.
Im moving from NY to Michigan.. I will never eat the pizza and I will never call soda "pop"
I always forget that "Devil's Night" is a Michigan thing!
I am from Michigan and I say sodapop, maybe it was the East Coast influence where I lived for over a year?
OPE? I have lived in Michigan 61 years, Never heard of OPE.
Ohio has produced more astronauts than any other state ...... The state is bad , that people actually want to leave earth to get out of it !
No toll roads.
