- In this video, I demonstrate how to remove and install an ac compressor on a 2010 Acura RDX.
Initial cause of the compressor is actually the clutch itself, but per request from my wife, it’s her car, she wanted a new compressor, so it had to be done, always make sure you evacuate the Freon from a shop or specialist before attempting this job.

Hey Sokhom thank you for this video. Can you do one for MDX? or is it very similar?
MDX are V6, completely different motor, they are equipped with either a 3.7L, 3.5L or 3.0L J-series motor, these cars all have these j-series motor, Acura TL, TSX with V6, Honda Accord V6, Honda Odyssey, Honda Element, I’m pretty sure there are video specific on these motors, it’s unfortunate that this vehicle hasn’t come my way yet, but bet if it does I will make a video on it.
Did u add pag oil to the new compressor? Thank u for the great video!
It came prefilled with oil
Did you have your refrigerant evacuated before you did the replacement? My 2008 RDX is having the same problem. I just don't want to spend so much money by bringing it to the shop. I just want to copy what you did so I can save money but I want to get the steps right and not mess up. Thank you in advance.
Yes, I took it to a shop to get the Freon evac, after install, I took it back to get charged up
@@SokhomGarage Thank you so much for the quick response. I appreciate it!
The shop I took my car to said I needed to also replace the condenser and accumulator to get the warranty because of metal shavings in the system. I’ve never personally worked on ac systems so I don’t know if that’s right or not. Thoughts?
Shops could perform test on your compressor but it’s hard to tell whether metal shaving exists in lines or not, but it’s not uncommon, it really depends on your compressor issue and what symptoms it’s presenting. Technically you’ll have to replace the entire system, which is very costly, but will save you from future problems if done correctly. I believe you need a 2nd opinion on this matter, you don’t have to go to one shop to have it looked at.
The shop is correct. The manufacturer needs a proof that you replaced those parts at the same time in order to get the warranty for the compressor in case it fails
I have an 07 rdx and it is doing the exact same thing. Do you have a video for just the clutch/pulley? Or what steps can I skip? Any help is appreciated.
So you can do all the other steps except removing the ac lines, keep that intact and move the compressor up to where you a see the clutch.
Thank you! And thank you for such a quick response!
I have a broken compressor on my 2011 RDX. I’m torn between buying OEM parts and picking up something cheap from Amazon. What is the new unit you purchased? How is it working out so far?
I bought mine from advanced auto brand new for less than $300, and it’s a denso brand which I prefer, working perfect.
Say is it necessary to do my condenser as well? My compressor clutch went out on my mdx and my mechanic told me I didn’t have to do my condenser. Is that true ?
@@SokhomGarage do I need to do the condenser also or just the compressor?
If it’s just a clutch, then, that’s all you need.
