The name Bac Ha comes from the Tay phrase "Pac ha" which means "hundred bundles of life". During the French colonial period, the French recorded the sound Pac ha with the Latin alphabet as Pakha. The Vietnamese read the Bac Ha citadel and became the official name of this land. Along with the natural scenery bestowed as majestic mountains, rivers and caves, the people are kind and hospitable. This land is also a convergence of ethnic cultural colors and unique specialties of the Northwest, creating a special attraction that attracts tourists from all over the world when traveling to Bac Ha. This place is known as the white plateau of the Northwest, every spring, plum flowers bloom white on the hillsides, mountain slopes, as well as in the gardens of people's houses.
You should come to Bac Ha at the following times:
- In spring, before and after the Lunar New Year is the season of plum blossoms.
- Bac Ha Horse Racing Festival is traditionally held at the beginning of June every year after plums are ripe.
- Land procession festival to process water on January 15 every year.
- Bac Ha market takes place every Sunday.
- Bac Ha Temple Festival on 7/7 lunar calendar every year
