Thank you for your kind words. I have found that most teachers are truly loving and caring (although I've met a few that make me wonder why they went into teaching). The good teachers need permission and support to teach this way - to take the time to get to know their students and teach in the way that works for them - rather than blindly following a curriculum guide, or the 'latest greatest' program!

I had so many teachers crying when they saw me again. I had pretty bad dyslexia as a kid and also horrible adhd. I'm a sophomore in high school now and I feel bad for them. I knew they wanted to help so bad but they just couldn't! I go to an art school now and I love creative writing! I wish my teachers had this resource. thanks for this Ted talk! All my love!

In my country, a failed study, and a teacher beats the child and also scolds him with bad words. He leaves school. The child is the reason for this method. Until Jed thinks about the reason for the aggressive style with a teacher and his student, and he has pressure from his family, his teacher, and the child’s teacher. What should he do?

Good video, she has experience and great recommendations. How to teach the better way and not to folllow the curriculum step by step. Have the right approach with students will go a long way. Mind you I have met students who were simply not interested. I am a French tutor.
I agree, some students lack motivation, or are disinterested. I would, however, say it’s our job to figure out why. Talk with them and honor - truly listen and try not to judge - about why they are disinterested, and what would make it more interesting to them. Try a different approach that reflects what they say. Of course, you have to have a positive relationship for them to be honest with you and trust you. But I have turned things around for many kids by doing that. I’m a stubborn teacher - and I’m stubborn about finding out what WILL make things work for them.
I’ve railed for many years- since my son was in grade school- about the constant testing and what people call “teaching to the test.” I firmly believe that the rigid standards may be a serious detriment to creative learning and ruin spontaneous teachable moments

In my experience, students raise their hand nonstop if the question or activity is all about expressing themselves. for example: describe yourself in oneword, what song describe your feelings at this moment. if you going to learned musical instrument what instrument would you select?
A strong homeschooling experience is a great alternative for many students. I want to bring that philosophy and those opportunities to more students in public education.
