Our only safety is in giving no place to the devil, for his* suggestions and purposes are ever to injure us and hinder us from relying upon God. Our work is to *“resist the devil,”* not harbor his doubts; and if we do this, the promise is *“he will flee from you.”*

But the question is often asked, How can I resist Satan? There is only one way by which you can do this, and that is by faith, taking Christ as your helper and pleading with Him for strength. When Satan suggests doubt to your soul, when he tells you that you are too unworthy, too sinful, to realize the blessing of God, present Christ before him as your Advocate and Saviour. Tell him you know that you are a sinner, but that Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. He came *“not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Mark 2:17).*

Repeat His promises: *“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37)....* *“Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me” (Isaiah 27:5).* *“Whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive”* *(Matthew 21:22).* Be simplehearted enough to believe these promises of God. When Satan comes to you, and tells you that because you are unhappy, perplexed, and troubled you are not a child of God, do not become discouraged for one moment, but gird up the loins of your mind. Let your heart repose in God. He has promised that if you come to Him, you shall find rest to your soul; and if you have done this, rest assured that He will fulfill His word in you....

Many pass long years in darkness and doubt because they do not feel as they desire. But feeling has nothing to do with faith. That faith which works by love and purifies the soul is not a matter of impulse. It ventures out upon the promises of God, firmly believing that what He has said, He is able also to perform. Our souls may be trained to believe, taught to rely upon the Word of God. That Word declares that *“the just shall live by faith”* *(Romans 1:17),* not by feeling.

James was written before the Crucifixion.

@@williambryan9619 Because it's more convenient to 'go with the flow', even though the flow is wrong. For most of my Redeemed life I, when I actually thought about James, was going with the flow. Then one day it just occurred to me that James was written before the Crucifixion, and since I wasn't able to find any demonstrable verse to prove me wrong, I've believed it since then. Now you're asking yourself "Wait a minute what about James 5:"7?" Well you could have knocked me over with a feather when I read the verse in the original. For one thing, the word 'coming' is not in the verse, and Second Coming is certainly not in the verse. Any verse using the phrase is a 'paraphrase' at best. The word that is being changed is 'Parousia". Which has a broader meaning than just coming. If that's the idea that God wanted to use, he would have used erchomai. Parousia means to be present with. Since the translators assumed that it was a post Crucifixion epistle they assumed that parousia meant "Second Coming" When I read James I ask myself "Is it impossible for this verse to have been written before the Crucifixion?" No verse has that quality. Besides there is no hint of the Passion and all it's ramifications. The only Scriptural reason is the Crucifixion hadn't happened yet.

Just walk in his light and the right man will befall upon you sister. You do not want to take haste for then the wrong one will come to you and will show you the darkness of this world and eskew you away from his light. This I know because my last girlfriend cheated on me for 4 months out of the year we were together and then overdosed due to the guilt. After I had found our and confronted her about it. She's alive and healthy thank God, but I still must pray for her salvation and for her not to hurt anyone else. I've been learning to heal and to forgive better from it though so all in his Will. All will be used for his glory.
