Dude was crazy coming up with crazy names to taunt other people with: Baron Von Onionhead, the Janitor (Dusty Rhodes), The Escaped Convict - Mr. Wrestling II 🤣
GREAT wrestling from when I was 12yrs old...rough, humiliating, manly dominance in a ring...Georgia was soooo good at this time, at 12yrs old I remember getting a woody before the program even started, just anticipating the wrestling action...
This angle between Rhoades and Ole was one of the best ever. They're both geniuses for this. Yes ole ends up double crossing Dusty. It caused a huge pop from the audience.
The great thing was it took over six months to develop, with Ole turning face in late 1979 and teaming with Stan Hansen, Tommy Rich and Wrestling II. He had the fans believing he turned. The better thing is that Ole didn't turn on Dusty in their first match. They waited for for the payoff match in the cage. Jim Cornette was there as part of the WFIA (Wrestling Fans International Association) convention that was in Atlanta that year. He was scheduled to go ringside to photograph the "actual" main event of Harley Race vs. Tommy Rich for the title, but he only had color film and it would have made shooting through the cage impossible, so he avoided the riot at ringside when fans and wrestlers tried to get into the cage after Ole turned.
At this time in his career Austin Idol sounded very much like another denizen of Las Vegas: Dean Martin!😂🎼🎤🎹🎸🎷🎺 Of course eventually Austin Idol and Tully Blanchard would be Promo soundalikes.🤔🎤🤼♂️B.W.
@kerryphillips1 Eh , I think not but to each their own . He was a better wrestler than Superstar but it was superstar's look he was emmulating and Superstar had the best physique in wrestling . Both Supes and Ric were better stick men . Flairs physique was not as good but was a better worker .
What's up with the obnoxious women chanting in the background? When they start doing that it ruins the moment and the action lol why didnt men tell them to hush
Awesome it's cool to see Austin Idol's 1980 Face Turn.
Thanks for sharing all these wonderful uploads, great channel! ✌
You can't tell me Austin Idol wasn't inspired by Superstar Billy Graham. 💯
The universal heart throb...Austin Idol
❤ that's me baby
The big turn by Ole Anderson is so close. One of perhaps the greatest angles in wrestling history.
WAS OLE ANDERSON ONE OF THE MEN WHO JUMPED DUSTY IN THAT PARKING LOT IN `1979?
Yes,he and his brother Gene.
U r correct...man 505-705 cst every Saturday...and man would I get po'ed if the braves came on and interrupted the 2nd hr
@@xandercalimaderthemander1084
Hell yeah.....When the Braves came on, ah man, that was heinous.
@@xandercalimaderthemander1084 I believed that was the MAIN reason why I hated the Braves during that time😀
Austin Idol was the best promo ever
❤

Did anyone notice the ref holding down the arm on Terry Taylors 3 count??? Hilarious!!! @ 8:00
Hall of Famer - The great Stan THE MAN Hanson.
The video tape, the closest thing to a time machine we've experienced thus far
UA-cam is a time machine.

“Well let me tell u something Darlin’” - Me (Today)
One of most vicious tag teams to ever enter the squared circle - The Assassins.
They fought like girls.
That dude didn't stick around when he saw the lariat coming.
Back when Rassling👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾 felt REAL!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The UNIVERSAL HEART THROB! certainly was dastardly!

How is Austin doing ?? Hall of fame !!!
Baron Von Onionhead 🤣
Baron Von Onionhead....LOL!
Wow. Tubby Rhodes bladed for Assassins 1 & 2...hard times
Idolmania...1980. 😮
I'd swear at least 50% of Dusty Rhodes interviews took place with blood streaming down his face
Referee C Ron West was a promoter for Ron Fuller's CCW.
Kevin Sullivan before he got jacked..
During the time this was filmed, was the second Assassin Roger Smith, Randy Colley or someone else. I'm pretty sure Tom Renesto was retired by then.
One of the assassins is Jody Hamilton here, is the other Tom Renesto?
Clinton Bigelow no. Renesto was never that big.
I think Roger Smith was the second assassin at that time.
Tom Renesto was one of the original Assassins and was the the one who's did the talking for the team
Austin Idol Billy superstar Graham mentor perhaps reminds me of superstar a lot
Superstar Graham had that gimmick way before Austin Idol, Idol copied Graham.
Oh OK thanks for putting me straight
Jonathan Turbide and Graham copied Gorgeous George and Ali.
AUSTIN IDOL IS SO PRETTY!...............
Charllie Fulton looked like a winning wrestler when in fact I don't recall ever seeing him win a match!
Do anyone have footage of the Georgia Junior Heavyweight Championship belt?
I'm in a fight with two guys so let me take time to get my coat off. Dusty wasn't too bright sometimes
Greedy D Had trouble getting his coat off because of all that flab around the middle.
Wow, Bruiser Bob Sweetan gave Tommy Rich everything he wanted and then some!
Sweetan was a main eventer in the in Don Owens' Pacific Northwest territory.
Old School Assassin masks for that interview
How did Austin Idol not be a bigger star in wrestling?
Mike wasn’t crazy about traveling a lot. He liked the Georgia/Florida area.
Austin Idol hails from Robinson high school in Tampa Florida 😐
Always liked Austin Idol not sure as why he didn’t get a bigger push
Isn't that assassin Ole Anderson
Terry Taylor...AKA THE RED ROOSER from his WWF days...aroooo ooooooo ooooo ooooo oooo
The "Idolators" were before there time
Tommy rich was a hell of a wrestler, I'm a flair fan , but rich was better
😀😆😁
Jim Ross once said that Sweetan was a miserable human being.
7:57 THE REF held that guy's hand down... Terry Taylor cheated
I SEEN IT TOO.
Austin Idol couldn't make up his mind if he was Ric Flair or Superstar Graham . He was a paler version of both .
@kerryphillips1 Eh , I think not but to each their own . He was a better wrestler than Superstar but it was superstar's look he was emmulating and Superstar had the best physique in wrestling . Both Supes and Ric were better stick men . Flairs physique was not as good but was a better worker .
The Assasins were ugly even with the masks on!
