I have a basic understanding of chess, Can someone tell why Ian didn't go Queen to G8 at 1:35? Is there something I'm missing maybe? Is it because of Lirens Queen on G6?
Then Black can go Bc5 attacking the other bishop. White can’t take because the pawn on c2 will promote. The best move here for white would to be blockade the pawn with Bc1. But since now both white queen and bishop are blockading the 2 pawns they will be very inactive. Black now can start taking attacking other pawns with the queen like the pawn on f2 or giving checks blah blah blah.
This is chess. Its more serious than you think but a different kind of serious than football or soccer or any other sport. My point is the mood. Ian and Ding worked very hard to get to where they are today and Ian lost his dreams of becoming a world champion you can tell when he was about to lose that he was shivering. Thats how emotional he is.
I’m new to watching chess world championships, and not that advanced at chess. did he actually finish the game? Someone else moved the last pieces for him though, isn’t that odd? If he won because the other resigned as there was no way out then why move pieces? Just the ending playing out was a bit confusing for me. I get why he won just the way it was done live.
Its because at the end of the game you move your kings to the center and it depends on who won or draw and depending on those 2 factors is how the kings are placed in the center. (Its how to record who won/lose/draw on games like how you record chess notations to record the entire game)
Chess players are not exactly ruthless people. Where athletes are incredibly competitive and have no qualms about doing whatever it takes to win, the journey to becoming the best chess player is generally the same for everyone. And with the current reality of the world, chess players are mostly introverted quiet people who aren’t quite so hyper competitive. I imagine he felt Ian’s loss as much as Ian did.
That final is pretty anticlimactic... not the match but immediately after... everyone just walks away... no confetti... no celebration... no fans or trophy presentation...
@@gorlab9549he meant why when ian made a move his timer gained time. Oh and for the main comment question, different events or tournaments or maybe even your park chess can set their timer to be for example: 3|2. “3” on the left means the minute time. “2” on the right means seconds gained every move. So basically lets say your clock is 2:47 and you are done making a move, your clock becomes 2:49. I dont know specifically what the timers where set on.
@Hussein-Bdair it's chess etiquette. There was no way he was gonna win. Any move he would try ding would counter. At that point your supposed to concede.
