    This is easily the most positive amazing thing I've watched in my lifetime. (9/11 was the worst) I was really hopeful, but skeptical of their chance of success with this catch, but wow they keep delivering the scifi future.

      @@koasizmworld1927 It was supposed to land on a position marked by a buoy and it was planned to land straight on top of water. It did indeed land quite accurately on target, as we can see it in the camera feeds from ships near the buoy. I don't think it was supposed to blow up.

      Well I wouldn’t get that hasty. I certainly believe that in my later years I’ll see on the news that we’ve gotten mankind to mars, but the atmosphere there is still inhospitable, any oxygen we could make from elements in situ would never be of a quantity great enough to sustain anything beyond limited professional missions, in small temporary-stay habitats. Setting up society there is a bit impractical even for the extended future.

      I don’t deny autonomous vehicles are safer or will be the future. I just wish United States had better public transport infrastructure and pedestrian friendly cities instead of relying on cars and all that

    That rocket was still going at 1000 km/h when it was at just 1 km from the ground and then almost 0 km/h when it was catched just 3 seconds later!😮

      If it was really those values, that is about 10 g's. Not sure what the latency was with the on-screen telemetry

      @@charleslivingston2256 I think he meant 3 min. If you watch the clock on the screen as it was coming down, it was WAY below 1000km/hr 3 seconds before docking.

      @@enoughofthis - it's got to be a lot faster terminal velocity than that. Ship has a terminal velocity of about that amount in the belly flop orientation. Super Heavy is coming in end first

Not necessarily as an inventor, but certainly as an engineer, certainly as a human, certainly as a visionary, certainly in his work ethics, certainly in his accomplishments and the least is his wealth. It is his heart & goals for humanity. His money is just a tool used to more ensure a good outcome for humanity. To be in the United States the ideals of a Benjamin Franklin, Edison and Howard Hughes Tycoon businessmen with foresight and driven. The will of George Washington crossing the Delaware river and the immigrants coming to America with bright eyes of hope. He is a treasure of our world and hopefully worlds to come.

    This flight retired most of the risk for Starship reusability. We officially entered a new Space Era with a system that will decrease costs by several orders of magnitude and allow Humanity to expand to the Solar system, making us the first species (maybe in the entire galaxy, or even the Universe) to become multi-planetary!

    I'm fortunate to have witnessed the advent of the Internet, experienced using it, seeing the early days of AI, had a glimpse of what the future could look like watching We, Robot but this, this beats it all!     Elon, you are killing it! SpaceX your performance is for the history books. No longer do we need to carry landing gears to space. This reduces the cost per ton launch and increase the cargo weight limits of cargo. "Chopsticks", was your idea, congratulations! SPACEX you ROCK!!!!!!
