I love your channel, very educational and I enjoy your pace. Beautiful property! Are you in the Fredericksburg area? I used to maintain the gardens over at a vineyard there, Augusta Vin, if you are in the area, would love you to do a tour there!
@@therockyhillgardener Yes, please do! If you call, please let them know Cheryl the Gardener referred you and they would likely allow you to tour the gardens prior to opening/customer arrival.
Enjoyed taking a walk through your beautiful garden areas! Like you, love Texas sage, Mountain laurel, any native Texas plant. Did see a Century plant bloom several years ago which was spectacular. You did inspire me to love at evergreen shrubs and try to find a yucca. Live in small town n. of Victoria so supplies are limited. And been so hot, dry here. That will change soon. Thanks for sharing info and enjoy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁🍁🦃🦃🍗🎄🎄(coming).
Wow, i had no idea Duranta got that tall. Probably because of where you live as mine only get, maybe 3 to 4 feet. But never makes it through our winters. Very pretty plant, though.
I’ve been looking at abelia as an evergreen shrub and may use a dwarf variety along the edges of my property. Good to see that you’ve been successful as I live just west of Burnet.
💚 Thank you for another wonderfully informative video! I live in north Texas and my yard and flowerbeds are only a fraction of the size of yours. However I’ve learned SO MUCH from you this year. I’ve taken your advice and converted all of my plants to native Texas plants. I also learned recently that we still have time to plant things, since I thought being in November now, I had to wait until next spring. Thanks for sharing the books you use, and showing how we can record our gardening process using Notes! I didn’t know we could add photos and videos to Notes 👍. Two questions: Do birds seeds that fall from your feeders sprout into plants and if so, how do you manage? For the plants you put into your garage for the winter, what do you do about sunlight?
The seeds that fall from the bird feeders do sprout, but the ground there is called my "Wild Area" and I don't mind a few weeds in the area. They usually die soon since we get very little rain here. I do have a window in my garage which is a real plus. I know some people will leave the garage door open if you're home a lot. Otherwise, I suggest putting up a green house. There are inexpensive varieties called hoop houses, but you do have to heat them when our temps get really cold. (20 and teens.) I've never had much success with outdoor green houses. I know some people put Christmas lights in them and that seems to help with heating issues.
Thanks for your fall tour! I also have an American beauty berry. it was going to get the shade of an old hackberry! However, that tree fell. Do I need to move it so it is sheltered in our summer heat? In the beautiful town of Kerrville.
Agapanthus struggles here in NC with our thick, clay soil. I’m thinking they are just really heavy feeders OR their roots need to be constrained in someway. Either in a pot or planted in a massive clump.
I was told years ago by a professor of horticulture that if a plant has green foliage and looks healthy but doesn’t bloom it most likely isn’t getting enough sunlight.

I think I hear you talking to me!!! Keep it up and I'll keep the videos coming!
I put pinecones in my plants to keep squires out of the potted plants. I’m North central Texas.
Great Idea! I'll try it

I'm outside of Austin, Tx. 1 1/2 hours from Fredericksburg. I'll see if they let me film their gardens. Thank you!

Oh my goodness, I am literally taking notes from your video in the Notes app! ❤
Don't you love it!!! So easy to keep picture and video records as your garden changes.
Great video. Very informative fact filled. I just found your channel and subscribed.
So glad you found me! I'll keep the videos coming.

You are so welcome! Hope you keep looking for good nurseries. Tell your local nurseries you want them to stock more native plants.
I LOVE plumbago!
Me too!! Plumbago blue is so eye catching!

Yes, very tough and great for the Central Texas Area.

I would definitely move it! They will burn up in our extreme heat.

I'm going to put it in a pot next year. I can add more acid organic fertilizer. I really want to see it flower!

I agree.
Will Coleus over winter in the garage? I have 2 huge ones. I thought I would just lose them.
Yes, It will make it in the garage.
