Early Dec 2023, a driver and some people in a vehicle asked me how they can navigate their way to ketu, they had just passed the Abiola garden and were heading toward Alapere bus stop. I simply told them they had passed where they ought to take and the only road which leads to Ketu via Ojota is one-way. While I was trying to say oga if you pass this way they go catch you, the driver said I'm a soldier.
Those guys chose to be lawless. I mistakingly followed some soldiers on one way along Liverpool-warff road. One senior officer arrested us for following one way. He drill those soldiers involved including me that mistakingly followed, with lesser punishment anyway, and he let me go after sweeping for about 30mins. But he really dealt with the soldiers for following one way. He said they should have shown me a good example.
Traffic is not the job of Sanwo Olu. The problem is that Nigeria is too corrupt and it starts from the top. No separation of powers for a start. If the country was organized then all that is needed is a ticket that invites him to court or pay a fine. This even exposes the government as clueless.
It is shameful, so sad and unknown to few of these lawless uniform men that 99.9% of traffic offences being committed by motorists (civilians) are as a result of the said lawlessness particularly the police. They should remember that they are highly respected in the society because of the high level of discipline (the military in this case because an average Nigerian police officer is law less.). Motorcycles are also dangerous modes of transportation and are banned for transporting people in most parts of the world. Nigeria has enough money to provide good roads and mass transit systems for the people. The reasons these people are using motorbikes for transportation is that there are not enough alternative trains and public buses to ply these roads.
