Installed mine last night it looks great i haven’t messed around with it yet but just the new coloured Apps make it look so much better. Let’s hope for even greater improvement as we get more of iOS 18 and beyond.
Battery life is great for me on the regular iPhone 13 with iOS 18 Public Beta compared to the 17.5.1 which is very interesting but, it is also mostly smooth though I would warn people that it might be a little bit slow once you start using the device since it is still processing stuff in the background but yeah that’s all. I’ve had little to no issues and it’s going well for a beta version!
iOS 17.5.1 iPhone 14 Pro Max user here and the experience has been terrible the heat management it’s so bad the processor it gets so hot it’s like about to get boiled it’s crazy hope they fix those in iOS 18.
Got to say since installing this public beta my 14 pro max is quite snappy. Where I work I get a lot of buffering and slow downloads. Well I’ve noticed a change. Definite improvement. So first impressions are great. Upgrading this cycle to iPhone 16 pro max.

Man on iPhone SE 2020 have a little buges for example when you want customize your control center some widgets are going to be unviable for a few seconds or in ios environment sometimes you don’t have smooth navigation and have a little lag
Public Beta is running amazing already on my iPhone 15 Pro!! I seriously can’t believe it. My battery life didn’t change, I’m not running into bugs and the new features are fire!!! So happy I decided to chance it! Haha

That's just goes to show that, Apple really isn't wasting any time. Because if they release a beta 3.5, and then like an hour or so later, we'll get public beta one, and then maybe, if history is any indication, we should see beta four soon
This is still hammering the battery life on my Watch 8 45mm (device, 14 PM). I typically charge my watch to 100% in the evening. Put it on ~11:00PM before bed. On all previous iOS' I would get to 50% by 5PM the next day. I'm down to 50% before noon on this.
When sharing, the suggested row is not updating with frequently used contacts. It’s a static list. And the photo app does crash sometimes. But the rest of the experience is very positive, well done apples team
When you use the stereo recording feature in voice memos app, the volume in a recorded file, starts off extremely quiet and fades in to full volume over 3-4 seconds. Reported the bug. Hopefully it gets fixed for the final build.

Aaron, I have never done the betas before, I am always hesitant. Do you feel confident in this one, other than battery life? I’m on a 15 Pro Max. I just want to try the new features, and I have a back-up. My question is, when the public release drops, can I go to it, rather than stay on the betas if I choose to?
You have to put your toes in sometime. I always go for the public beta’s. No issue and it always works first time I don’t back up although there is a back up from a month or two ago and Aaron has just released a way out going back to 17.

The battery isn't the best, but that was to be expected. Some apps crash, especially those for editing the notification center and the screen in general. Personally, I have one quite annoying bug, i can't see the emoji button on the keyboard. Overall, for the third beta, it's not bad. I'm using an iPhone 13.
Been playing around all day with this. I’m really enjoying the new features but have noticed a flickering bug when watching HDR videos. Every so often the screen flickers. Kind of makes me sick. I hope they fix this soon.
I can't get it to show any updates, it's stuck indefinitely on "checking for update" I am on very fast WiFi (150+ Mbps) Turning off my WiFi and turning it back on didn't work this time. Restarting and rebooting also did nothing.
If you didn’t already have iOS 18 on your phone, you might have to go into Software Update - Beta Updates then pick iOS 18 Public Beta to get it to show up.

It’s perfect. I love it. Only found one bug with a local shopping app. Other than that, my battery life is better than it was on IOS17. Yesterday I had 6 and a half hours of screen on time and still had 39% remaining. No lags, haven’t had my device respring. Very stable for me

updated my 11 Pro Max and saw some bugs. pictures are blurry when you zoom in on the Photos app, I installed Google Photos and pictures are fine when viewed there. Spatial Audio on Airpods is not working well, it has crackling sounds. the Messenger icon is pixelated in dark mode with large icons. And the battery life is much worse than on the official 17.5.1.
I normally join the public betas, but I'm on an IPhone 13 Mini now, which is the most forgotten about device by even Apple themselves, so I worry my experience will be buggier than those on the flagship devices. Any mini users out there that have been on the developer beta that could chime in with their experience before I dive in?
I'm going to assume that if I want to use the public beta for awhile - but change later, I should probably save a backup file instead of just iCloud backup (which will backup regularly) in case I want to go back to iOS 17?
Always a good idea in my opinion to do an iTunes back up and save it to your personal drives as well. It’s been a while since I’ve done it, but I think it would only offer you the last backup for the firmware you just restored to.
@@twaikel I had switched to try out the dev beta when it came out. I tried to downgrade the normal way, and every time - it stayed on 18. I eventually had to use my Mac to restore. I don't want to lose the ability to downgrade back to 17 if 18 is too buggy - because my iCloud backup is then also on 18.
I am using public beta now. Keeps force closing iMessage in the middle of typing and phone gets a little warm. Other than that, it’s ok. It doesn’t close all the time but annoying after 6th time
You need to have at least twice the gigs more than the update size available in order for you to be able to download the update. So if the update is 6 gigs for example, you need 12 gigs for it to be available.
So did you actually get both of them at the same time or did you have to separate update him cause I got them both at the same time and they just asked me to check market and that was it and I restarted my phone. I never had to update it though.

You didn't make clear that if you installed the dev beta 3 re-release earlier today, if you put your phone on the public beta option now, we won't get it to update, it'll still say you have the latest version and we won't get a public release for another week or two! Also my ultra 2 watch won't update to public rel. either, it says I have the latest version even though no re-release earlier today!

How do I switch from developers to public?
You change teh switch in the software update page, but there is no need as dev beta is the same thing just released earlier.
Tap the option when it shows.
If you’re on DevBeta 3.5, public beta won’t show up. They are the same update.

Yea, but your data is gone. I did that and lost everything, but luckily I have a 13 pro max with the same data as my second phone to transfer over

Correct. Public beta one is the same as beta three re-release but I did say that in the video as well.
