Sadly for those of us who played Traveller with the little black books in the 80s, we *hated* what they did to the Traveller Universe and the computer virus breakdown.

I played in the 80's with the little black books (now long lost) and had a lot of fun, but The New Era was my most played version, and as such I hold a lot of affection for it.

I never played the game or even wanted to but I do always remember that cover art, it is great stuff.

Although I recognise that this version most people don't like, it was the one that I played most, so I've loads of great memories of it, and that cover is one of them. Brilliant.

It's terrific to see TNE getting some love lately-Willy Muffin and Page121 also put out videos about it recently. The setting of TNE is excellent, one of my favourite setting milieus for Traveller. The only shortcoming of TNE for me was the task system, which was not as good as MegaTraveller (or maybe I just don't like "d20 roll low" mechanics).

I just recorded a Rules Breakdown for TNE, and as someone who's favourite memories of Traveller come from TNE, I suddenly realised why so many people don't like this edition. I adore the background, but the rules are so different, and pretty inferior, to the other editions.
