Is there a risk to damaging the speakers? I don't need lots of volume as I live in a condo, so if the volume output isn't as high is no problem for me.
@@madcapsmc Hi, I don´t profess to be an audio specialist, but as you mention that you do not have a need for extreme volumes,, lol,, I would suspect, that the little Arylic will do well with these speakers,, and definitely will not overpower them! Cheers!
Hi Andrew - I love the quality and diversity of the topics covered on this channel. For example I particularly appreciated the assessment in this episode of a pair of speakers not “going ugly early”. Keep up the great work.
I think this is exactly what I have been looking for. Awesome review... I know you are a audiophile snob lol so it gives me some confidence in this budget option.
I would have no issue building a system around the A50, and it depends on your definition of high-end if I would call it that. My definition of high-end includes expensive materials whose only real purpose is looks; like fancy VU meters and a high grade aluminum chassis. I would have no problem though calling it Hi-Fi based on your description of the sound.
Just managed to order one for the equivalent of $155 on the strength of your review. I have some really nice Panasonic bookshelf speakers I’ve been hanging on to from a previous system and this should bring them up to date and make them usable again.
I'm just starting to build my budget system n i can't thank you enough for this review. Have enjoyed all your videos even those on gears i can only dream of. Cheers.
I'm pretty much an average consumer and enjoy your show Andrew. After my Denon RCD-M38DAB stopped working I replaced it with the Arylic A50, kept the original pack in Denon speakers as they sounded fine with the original system. For £130 the A50 sound is ok but a bit thin, so I give it a little bass bias though the app in some tracks. Sound stage & Separation and resolution sound fine to me but these terms are subjective. speakers are 3m apart and I'm sat about 5m away. High end? never heard high end but the A50 is an adequate sounding substitute and does Spotify connect, job done
Great review, never heard of this brand before. For main system would not consider, but for 2nd system office/garage seems reasonable. Better yet that S50 Pro preamp sounds like a cheaper version of Bluesound Node 2i and very interested. Has digital pre-outs, could definitely go in main system. Biggest feature for me is compatibility with Amazon music.
We used the S50 Pro with the Musical Fidelity M8xi to stream music, as well as with the Bandwidth Audio system, two incredibly high-end setups and the S50 Pro did NOT disappoint.
When using the A50 pro as a preamp, was volume adjustment controlled well enough to be plugged directly to a power amp or was it better suited using the line out to a dedicated preamp?
Sound is sound. If it's good, it's good. Does spending more often give you "better" sound, sometimes, sure. But, a Watt doesn't know if it's expensive or not, nor does a product. So it's possible for a cheap amp to sound as good as an expensive one. It's the listener that puts all the qualifiers on the sound, not the product itself. Thanks for watching!
There was a restauranteur in London who when asked for the most expensive wine on the menu would fetch a bottle of any old plonk and charge a huge amount for it. He would then watch the diners coo over their expensive wine and how great it was because of how much it had cost them. Wealth doesn’t buy good taste.
Setting up a new home 4 room stereo system and I’m not looking to spend $1,000’s so I might pickup 4 of these to run the show! Thanks for the in-depth review.
@@davidfluty7213 Phoenix convectors are pretty small, you might get half of the strands in there. I think the largest I've been able to fit is 18 or 20 gauge... I'm interested to hear if you were successful in piggybacking 4 units together on the network, and how your user interface works for controlling them; independently and collectively.
Thanks for reviewing this amplifier. I have now orders the S50pro, it going into a vintage set up, in fact you've inspired me to start my own UA-cam channel! 👍
I watched your video, good first outing. If I may offer a little guidance, don't apologize for what you're doing or how you make your content. You do you, and just be yourself and don't compare yourself to others. The more you make videos, the more comfortable you will become, and things will improve. But let the viewers come on that journey with you rather than alerting them to potential "problems" before you even start. Honestly, your quality was better than a lot of other channel's who have followings and do unboxing, so don't sell yourself short. Be well!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews thanks so much for viewing, and taking the time to offer helpful guidance. It has really helped, & made me feel more confident. Thanks.👍
I have been through a similar exercise for my bedroom, due to needing a bit more I/O I ended up with a Denon CEOL N10 and Q acousics 3020i. ( I already have 2050i, 2020i and 200C in my living room system). I have become a fan of Q acoustics kit. Easy to get on with. As for the high end question, probably not. but I may just buy one whilst they are still cheap. Be fun to put one in an amp case and see what friends/random punters think.
I’ve been using versions of these amplifiers for a while. It’s basically the SMSL Q5 modules (I have a European model from another maker, as well). They’re terrific for tv setups where you don’t want surround. The built in streaming capabilities here make it a nice product.
Fantastic review as always guys, Arylic offer a range of streaming and amplifier PCBs for the home constructor as well, though I would stick with AB amplification to better match my analog sources, I`m am very keen to purchase their streaming PCB & build it into a cabinet for hifi use
I started watching with the sound muted and auto-generated closed captions turned on, and UA-cam spelled it Aurilic. That got my attention really fast.
hey andrew, i have setup a number of these for multi room audio via in ceiling speakers (mostly q acoustics) and mostly am like you and super happy with them in pretty much every way. Not sure if you are aware but they also have a pc program that has DSP functionality minus time alignment, but the EQ is great to help with in ceiling speakers! As you mentioned speakers NEED to be efficient i have tried connecting to a set of other in ceilings and it struggles to power them big time, so i have just ordered the SA100 model as it has 50w @ 8ohms so hopefully that sorts it. I will also add it depends on what source is used as if playing any steaming radio via app (tunein, internet radio, iheart) it really struggles to play loud enough, and to get any sort of listening volume the A50 needs to be at almost full volume. would be great if it just had am little more grunt!
We are buying a mountain house with a lot of small rooms so this is very timely. Already have a couple on the way, but no, these won’t be high end rigs.
I had this for about 6 months now. I agree to his reviews, nice sound, small foot print, perfect for my bathroom. HOWEVER, it takes about a minute to connect at least. Had to factory reset a few times because it won’t connect to WiFi. Now I have found a quirk to connect, each I have to power it on, the connection light keeps blinking, won’t connect, I switch it off and on again and it’ll connect in a minute. Very annoying. Customer service even though they respond, is not very useful.
I'm pretty happy with my A50 but I'm moving to an all Sonos system. I saw some guy on Ebay had a good deal on this. Ten bucks lower than anywhere else online that I could find. For that price it's a steal!
At the 6:07 mark you show the Arylic , Dentons, solid steal stands. , headphones on a stand on top of the sideboard!! Holy crap..,,Beautiful! I need to screenshot this. and a great review!
Another great review, thanks. I have a Bluesound Node 2I and an Arylic S50 feeding 2 different amplifiers in different rooms. For me the Bluesound UI is far superior to 4Stream which I use for the Arylic. Regarding value for money the Arylic is excellent. I've been using it via it's own DAC as well as feeding a couple of others I have at home. I think Arylic are another company showing what good value you can get for a relatively small amount in today's HIFI market.
Hey Derek, I've been thinking about doing exactly that. The Arylic would be connected to an outdoor Klispch speaker (the Rock) and the Bluesound as my main system and two channel Home Theatre, I'm curios which speakers did you pair both systems? Thanks!
Hi, I’m having similar set up as yours. I currently steaming music from my AVR. Do you think getting the Arylic 50 would have better sound due to different DAC? Also, do I have to bypass the amplifier function in the Arylic if I just want the MF to handle the amplify function? Thanks in advance
Sounds like a winner. The preamp version is intresting to me particularly. Thanks for the review. Edit: Used your link to check it out. Then went to amazon £160 for the preamp....new item goal set 😍
I've been thinking about buying my Sister and her bf an entry level hi-fi speaker setup eventually. This might fit the bill perfectly, pair it with Q Acoustics 3020i or something, and they'd be set....
I couldn't agree more as we used that exact combination in our testing. If you want any other ideas, you'll find everything we paired up with the Arylic in the description.
Andrew i nearly went nuts using that stupid green wire connector. Mine came closed for some gawdawful reason and it took me nearly an hour to figure that out, no sound coming from the speakers. Cant for the life of my understand why they went that route. It was ALMOST a deal breaker.
Ha loved the spray and pray reference!! I think you can consider something "Hi-Fi" if you think it sounds that good to you no matter what equipment you run. I think if other people could listen to your setup and think its "Hi-Fi" without knowing what equipment your using... goal achieved. If you can "fool" people you have a high end system but really you're running low priced equipment... maximum audiophile status achieved!!
Another great video, yet again! Actually considering this amplifier now. I'd probably center this amp with a Fluance turntable or maybe a vintage Denon.
If you want to connect a turntable to this product know that you have to use a phono preamp as the A50 nor the S50Pro have a phonostage. Thanks for watching!
Just a little nitpick but the A50/4sound doesnt support deezer hifi. I could hear the blunting of transients from 320 mp3 immedeately. Best used as a NAS/bluetooth streamer
Andrew, about the question that you asked regarding being able to call a system paired with budget pieces "high end". I have to say that I think "high End" is such a bullshit term. Using such a term means that you obviously care what others think about your system. For me, my system has to sound musical. Yes, that is a purely subjective concept, but it's the concept that I live with and it's how I choose to define the performance of my kit. I wish that the term ''high end'' could be abolished, but the industry might not like that idea as much as I do.
Love you guys for Another great review picking products out of the mainstream. This must be class d and I like class d. Btw upgrading the power supply usually results in better power
Small powerful systems like this are interesting. I would, and have built a two chanel system using the small Radio Shack Optimus STA-20, bought brand new in 1998, and paired with (Salvation Army rescued) vintage KLH bookshelf speakers when I was temporarily rooming with a friend in a two bedroom apartment. My audio system was stored during that time. He was searching for a decent sound system. We were both shocked and amazed at how great the sound and power that little, inexpensive unit delivered. Both being audiophiles, I questioned the need for a huge system. I moved out into my own place with my Optimus in tow. (He had bought an entirely new system by that time.) I super enjoyed that Optimus for months after until I had the energy to reassemble "the grand system" I have. I still have that made in China (and/ or Taiwan) Optimus, costing less than $50.00 (sound is very respectable having powered my large Advents for a while) Please, be careful interchanging "cheap" and "inexpensive"! The Arylic is inexpensive. Symantics, I know, but using "cheap" here, connotes poorly made. The Arylic units seem to be solid products. Comparatively, the Optimus is very low, old school tech, but that's part of its charm. However, another excellent review of a product to possibly look into.
I understand what you are saying, Jon, and I'm not trying to imply these are cheaply or poorly made. If build quality was an issue, I would tell you so. That said, people search for words like "cheap" far more often than they do "inexpensive" (trust me, Kristi does extensive research on every single video we produce) and as much as we wish we didn't need to play the title game on UA-cam, it's unavoidable. That is at least until we reach those Marques Brownlee numbers 😜.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews It's not a reproach o o critique, I enjoy every review you do! The reviews of gears I can't afford make me very happy! Thank you for your dedication, hope you continue many years!
Not everyone is going to like it (I'm sure), but it's one of those amps I feel people should have if for no other reason than to put potentially higher priced products in their place 😉
Thank you for the great video! Any way to use multiples of these to power multi-room in ceiling speakers and have one audio stream to to all of them and possibly be able to use Alexa voice command to stream to all rooms?
Not blaming you, BUT I'm blaming you lol. I was in the market for an easy and affordable network streamer earlier this year. All my searching did not turn Arylic up. I settled on a Yamaha WXC-50 which is adequate, but frustrating (app interface, buggy playlist). It has more inputs, a volume knob, and source selector on front, but also costs more (I got a good deal on eBay for $265). Had I know about this OR the S50 Pro, I could have very well gone w/ Arylic. I may still test the Arylic and swap it in for the Yamaha if it works better. The only thing the Arylic seems to lack on paper is DSD playback which the Yamaha supports (on paper as I haven't gotten it to work). If you are holding onto gear that no one knows about, maybe at least mention it? A full review isn't even necessary. Just say "hey guys, here's the gear we have that you might want to know about and here's what it does". This could even be a new segment of your show. Just saying.
I have been messing around with there DIY boards pretty much since covid happened, it was a gamechanger for me, for DIY there is basically no competition.
Maybe bypassing the internal DAC on this and using a Schiit Modi 3 might add some mid range meat on the bone and then upgrade the schiit's power supply and the ampage on this units power supply? Or utilising an active sub.
Digital amplifiers @ 3:50? I'm guessing that's a slip of the tongue since as we all well know Class D is analog. Or is it another class of power? Their website is vague.
Hi Andrew, with A50 I can connect 2 speakers (1 Zone), what do I need more then 1 zone, 4 or 6 speakers? what additional device do you recommend with this?
Thank you for the enjoyable review. If I’m reading the tea leaves properly this might make a really good bathroom system and I’m not kidding. Who doesn’t love singing in the shower? Maybe one of their plate style amps hidden in the bathroom closet. I appreciate you setting my mind to wander. Nice work.
Great review, it would be great to watch your review of a NAD integrated amp with BlueOS like the C368, much more expensive than this amp, but similar features. If this only had MQA decoding I’d jump on it right now.
Why does it hurt my brain to like this. For me when I was a teenager I just had the old technics hifi system the silver stacked one with a fancy glass unit and all the speakers that came with it. Then the iPod came out so all my music was on my ipod so then I bought a bowers and Wilkins egg shaped speaker with the stand and I just sat my ipod on the dock and I was away. Then I went travelling sold all my stuff and never came back. But now I'm beginning to come back into the music home theatre genre that we live in and I know so little but I'm learning thanks to you. But this device just feels backwards because you still need your phone to use it then you need speakers, for what it is wouldn't you be better off just buying a Bluetooth speaker. I understand for the people with vintage amps now that's cool but for the future, I don't see it. Maybe it's just been a long day and I'm not functioning properly but anyway....
I just got a A50+ with a Klipsch RB-51II and it is disapoiting, way worse than my Yamaha A501 and an old Class AB amp. It's the first time I ever see a difference between amps. It sound sharp and fatiguing to listen to. I've tried cutting highs at eq without sucess. It just doesn't sound good. I'm thinking about buying the Loxjie A30, what you guys think?
Love to see something on the Soundavo NSA-250. Very similar product, same price range, 50w @ 4, 25w @ 8, better binding posts, actual front panel volume pot...
It's very interesting topic. It would be awesome if you could continue doing reviews on wifi multiroom speaker system. I was thinking to expand my sound system to other rooms (Marantz av) with heos, but for me it does not justify the price. Maybe you could do a video on (budget)wifi multiroom setup + integration with for example sonos, heos, etc. BTW I'm big fan of your channel, production quality and narration are just top notch! Keep up the good work Kevin Spacey :)
Thank you very much for the nice review. Budget audio is best it's ever been, but I would never call this amp high end. Thankfully we don't need high end anymore to get good sound.
Hmm... You got me thinking... I have the SMSL 300 with the Q3020i. Do you think the Arylic sounds better? I am particularly interested in midrange and soundstage in a system.
Excellent Review, I would pair it with a pair of Klipsch RP600M and I would call that a HIGH-END mini system. HIGH END to me has more to do with HIGH QUALITY, than HIGH PRICE.
Great video and maybe a solution to update my 2096 B&K ct 610 which went bankrupt 2010. Andrew I have a 6 zone speaker setup that all terminate at the B&K. Could I add one ayrlic pro 50 for each zone and still use the CT 610 as an amp? Then use my iPhone to control each zone? I spent WAY too much money in 2006 with keypads in each room to control the B&K and do not want to re program a 16 year old system. Appreciate your thoughts and willing to pay for your experience to help setup new system. Btw all speakers are in ceiling for total of 12 Thanks for what you do Jay

Great video, I did some searching and I see that there is an Arylic 50+ now with 50 WPC over the 50's 35 WPC.
I'm curious on your take on how this would compare to the SMSL SA300, for a budget home audio system. Thanks.
Just managed to order one for the equivalent of $155 on the strength of your review. I have some really nice Panasonic bookshelf speakers I’ve been hanging on to from a previous system and this should bring them up to date and make them usable again.
Sincerely hope it works out for you!
We love ours.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews is growing on me, will probably invest in some Bowers & W 606 S2 Anniversary Edition's tho
Great honest review, many snobbish reviewers would always rank sound quality purely according to price
Appreciate you watching!
@@callumk5 this restaurant sounds like exotic cable manufacturers, lol
Setting up a new home 4 room stereo system and I’m not looking to spend $1,000’s so I might pickup 4 of these to run the show! Thanks for the in-depth review.
Will the Arylic A50 accept 14 gauge speaker wire?
Thanks.👍
Sincere question; what about bi-amping with 2? Just curious how the extra bang would sound if they were daisy-chained and had uniform volume matching.
Great to hear your experience! We really enjoy them ourselves.
GREAT VIDEO!! Keep up your good work!!
Thank you so much!!!
Does this put out 24/192 through the coax out if using Amazon Music HD or would it down-sample to a lower bit rate before passing to a separate DAC?
I purchased the B50 and I built a 2.1 home theater system with it.
That's great!
I didn’t hear it specifically in the video, I’d gapless playback supported??
I'm pretty happy with my A50 but I'm moving to an all Sonos system. I saw some guy on Ebay had a good deal on this. Ten bucks lower than anywhere else online that I could find. For that price it's a steal!
Why move to sonos?
Thanks!
A50 pro, musical fidelity M5Si and some KEF LS50 metas with a REL Ti series sub. Thinking that may be my setup for years
Hi, I’m having similar set up as yours. I currently steaming music from my AVR. Do you think getting the Arylic 50 would have better sound due to different DAC? Also, do I have to bypass the amplifier function in the Arylic if I just want the MF to handle the amplify function? Thanks in advance
Thank you, Andrew, for this information. I'm glad that decent HiFi does not need to cost 5 figures!
Does it goes well with KEF LS50 Meta? thinking of what amp should i get with a budget.
Good to know there are still options for those on a budget. Great review!
I love your channel.man, you’re informative, thorough and all your videos are entertaining - good work.
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching.
Great channel and great reviews! Thank you! I bought the A-50 after your review.
Hey Andrew great review, would love to see you update this with the A50+ best wishes
So where does one go about to get those kind of particular speaker cables???
aryiic a50 + MS302
loving it!
if it werent for you, i wouldnt have known about Arylic. Thank You.
So glad it is working out for you.
I have 8ceiling speakers, and want to make multi zones. whats the suggestions
What AWG speaker wires should I use for the Arylic A50? Also, is there an updated A50 on its way with optical audio?
I saw someone on ebay had a great price on a Arylic preamp. I own a S10 and it's great!
Great review Andrew, good gear for us no multimillionaires :)
We try to have a little bit for everyone on the channel. Thanks for watching!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews It's not a reproach o o critique, I enjoy every review you do! The reviews of gears I can't afford make me very happy! Thank you for your dedication, hope you continue many years!
I didn't take it as such. :)
You don't need to be rich to enjoy good audio
Really enjoyed this one. Might have to check this out for myself.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Max! Big fan. Multi room - yes. As far as Alexa, that I'm not 100% on. You can pair multi A50s together at once through the 4Stream app easily.
hello can the two amplifiers be connected in mono? in this case the dynamics problems should be solved?
just placed my order on Amazon, $169 with one-day delivery.
Cost prohibitive! Like the sound of that! Another great review man! This product really caught my attention, I'll do a little more research...
I hit the Like button and I'm ready for a potential ADVENTURE
Thoughts on pairing this with a decent pair of powered studio monitors?
I have been messing around with there DIY boards pretty much since covid happened, it was a gamechanger for me, for DIY there is basically no competition.
Thanks for this review. Am getting this very affordable amp.maybe it's not high end but at least it will not sound bad . Can upgrade later
Be sure to come back and let us know how it worked for you! Thanks for watching.
Maybe bypassing the internal DAC on this and using a Schiit Modi 3 might add some mid range meat on the bone and then upgrade the schiit's power supply and the ampage on this units power supply? Or utilising an active sub.
Looking at this and the SMSL AD18. Not sure which one will sound better.
Andrew, how do you like the newer model, the Arylic a50+? And how does it compare to the Loxjie A30?
I really enjoy this channel, very informative!
Nice work.
Where are you buying a Denon 150H for $200 dollars? They seem to be 5 times that price in the UK. Not really a fair comparison.
Would you use it for outdoor audio?
Nice little amp to put on the desk in my study!
Can it do Spotify Connect and gapless audio when streaming?
Great review, it would be great to watch your review of a NAD integrated amp with BlueOS like the C368, much more expensive than this amp, but similar features. If this only had MQA decoding I’d jump on it right now.
We'd love to review them. Let them know you'd like to see their products on the channel and maybe it will give them the nudge they need.
I have 2 on the way. I also purchased a 24v linear power supply. It should make an interesting comparison to the stock switching supply.
Thanks for another great video Andrew, waiting anxiously to hear your thoughts on Ambeo...
Thank you very much for the nice review. Budget audio is best it's ever been, but I would never call this amp high end. Thankfully we don't need high end anymore to get good sound.
Dont know if you have any experiance with the Pro-ject line-up of products but if you do, how do they compare to this A50?
Shame the A50 doesn't have an optical input. or it would be a great soundbar killer.
Btw all speakers are in ceiling for total of 12
Thanks for what you do
Jay
I've been looking for an amp like this. Not sure if I'll build a system using it, but really wanted to find a solid entry level streaming solution. Thanks!
Will the Jamo C93 II pair nicely with this amplifier? Can you get a subwoofer out through this amp?
