Give me this song on a loop, a beach, and a lawn chair and say goodbye. You’ll never see me again. Arms folded behind my head and forever lost in complete thought and relaxation.

Rip to my father. Who sold milk jugs he carried- threaded onto a large stick draped across his back. He was only 8. Up and down the albanian mountains selling milk as a poverished starving boy. Early 1970s, At 17 yo he spent the cold nights sleeping in a cardboard box in italy to get to america by boat. The first one to arrive and worked and cared for his 8 siblings back home in albania by sending money. Gave nothing but his best, built a family in america. When i was 16, he was diagnosed with parkinsons. When i was 27, lung cancer ultimately took him after the parkisons had debilitated him. Best father ever. I still learn to this day from the love he left behind and the suffering he endured. Best man...ever. how one can still teach lessons from the grave is beyond me. What a support system.

I haven't listened to this song for 10 years. Thats bring some good memories. I was so young. At that time I lived at the heart of Siberia - Novosibirsk. In winter I came for New Year's holidays to Ulan-Ude as usual - to my hometown near lake Baikal and spend time with my friends. We were filming some stupid shit, I tried to make horror-movie, we were laugh so much, had a lot of fun. Even the temperature -30 C did not interfere with filming. We still close friends, but nowadays everyone left Ulan-Ude and now they have dispersed to the cities of Russia. We finished that film, and I think we became so close cause of this wannabe filmakers things. And there where that song by explosions in the sky. And now I listen and remember that short winter days, this frozen camera, laughing, drinking beer, and being so happy together.

Yeah this song is so good. The guitars are amazing but when the drums hit at midpoint, that blew me away. Explosions are so musically talented

Mine died when I was 10 on the 31st of December. I know how you feel, just like you said it's pretty hard to explain it by words. Still, I feel like when people have gone through such experiences they can relate to others who have gone through similar things. Both of our fathers may be gone from this world, but they'll always be in our memories. Wish you the best❤

One of my favorite songs growing up. As a teen I was heavily into instrumental music. This awakens so many emotions and has the same effect on me years later. Hauntingly beautiful.

My father passed away 12 years ago. Passed away when i was a young man. Never met him as an adult and young child life wasnt perfect, but.. i still loved him and was a fan of his growing up. Always thinking of him and looking for him when i was out and about. I forget its fathers day because i didnt have one in my life much, its by chance i thought of this song after not listening for over 10 years and realizing today is fathers day at the same time. Pretty cool coincidence... or id like to think, maybe more.

For me personally this is this is the peak of the genre. It may well be produced in a pretty crappy way and it isn't exactly a tour de force when it comes to musical craft either. But you can sense the earnest raw emotion from which the track was born. You hear a band that is conveying pretty heavy feelings trough their instruments without using too many tricks and polish. No other track in the genre hits me harder then this one.

It’s funny how most of the people in the comment section listened to it years ago and just rediscovered this masterpiece. I was listening to this whole album nonstop around 5 years ago and it’s weird how I completely forgot about existence of it, despite the large amount of related memories

Biggest memory I have of listening to this one was when I had the album on my old iPod Shuffle stick during a long distance bike camping trip. We rode a 30+ mile limestone gravel trail to a beachfront here in West Michigan. Despite it being a very popular beachfront, we managed to sneak in after dark and camp on an unmaintained private beach just beyond the private beach sign where no one bothered us. No one brought a tent, we foolishly thought we could just sleep on the beach with no bag or anything. I remember listening to this in my headphones while trying to sleep with a backpack over my head, using a work polo as a tiny blanket, all to avoid the sand that the wind was needling into my face and arms. I eventually dozed for an hour or two until I woke up to notice a thunderstorm in the direct center of the horizon, growing in size on both sides at about the same rate;. It was coming right for us.

Thanks for the emotional piece 😢 😪
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside with the raw emotions expressed through music. Because of the title, I miss the times I shared with my dad...he is still alive, but we usually always fight. We fought one day, and I left home. We are still in touch. We are now on talking terms. Actually, for a while now. I wish we could be friends in this lifetime 🤞I love you, baba...you worked hard to give me a good and relatively easy life. I thank you for that...
