Reporting live from GSR: they're replacing all the pinsetters with string pins. Lanes 1-16 are still GS-X, the next dozen lanes or so are completely dismantled, and then 30-50 are strings :(
I loved that bowling center. When the USBC Open Championships was held in Reno, some of the side tournaments such as the Bowlers Journal and the Bowlers This Month were hosted here at Grand Sierra. Thirty years ago, Butch Soper threw a perfect game on TV here at this bowling center.
Sad to see the shape this place is in. I remember it all AMF as a kid, 50 lanes of 82/70's ModIV masks (blue, I do remember these masks going in around the early 90s). Ran really well, I met one of the mechanics from here online, SUPER good tech, knew his stuff, helped me a LOT when I was new to it all and still young. Sad to see struggling and poorly running GSX's in the 70's place. Better than strings tho I suppose!! Thanks for posting/sharing as always!
@@xforce300 You nailed it, the one and only "Dutch" as I knew him. What a guy, answers, manuals, didn't matter. ANYTHING to help. Missed for sure always. I am scared of the install shenanigans (I had NO idea they went GS at all)
This was the top dog bowling center before the stadium was built. I believe that it was all AMF before the renovation. I entered a PBA pro-am and was fortunate to bowl with Walter Ray Williams Jr and Doug Kent. Out here in the West, you will see many AMF synthetic lanes, Brunswick A's or G's and AMF pins.
Headed here in a couple of weeks for a convention, might have to check this place out! What are your thoughts about per-person-per-hour rates? I think per-hour rates are ok, but then charging per person as well seems excessive. The lane's seeing the same amount of use whether it's a party of 1 or 5. Maybe I'm salty from one time a BZXL crammed as many people onto one lane as possible when we were paying per-person-per-hour...
I love the AMF lane panels. Sad that the ball indicator and strike indicator lights didn't work on the masking unit. The play area, "There is only one rule, keep the lights on....on....ON"

Noooo, that's crazy! I did see a video on facebook with the strings and was freaking out about it!

Must be talking about Barry Dutcher, he is missed.
I was working there for the GSX install, you don't want to know the BS that happened during that.

I love the pinsetter features

😂 Oh what a mess, what a mess!
Looks like a well maintained bowling center. I’m still bummed that I can’t travel this year because I could stop at a few bowling centers.
The Super Nova still has some life!
These are Harmony Ball Retuens.
In my local center we have the same issue with gsx, in reespoting they usually fail to pick the 5, 7 or 10pin. And it happens on multiple lanes😭
Pls do to the bull pin in Estes park co and Arapahoe bowling center in Greenwood Village Colorado
Great video! Did you get to bowl on the strings?, also looks like they’re using amf pindeck lighting
I did nawt. I think it those lanes were reserved
Holy scissor pads, Batman!
16 dollars an hour is pretty cheap! Some of the bowl-o-rama houses charge up to $70/hour.
RIP logo less sweep
That looks like one HIP bowling alley.
We don’t really have anything in Minnesota to compare with it.
AYO Who let tristan Drink-Anonymous bowler
