- (hey! this video is quite updated compared to the updated version you can find below. while i'm planning on a more accurate version using FL 20 instead of 21, i think this update suffices for now.)
just thought i'd update the recording and give it some nicer visuals :3c
(i actually got copyrighted on this lmao)
this was originally meant to figure out how the UGK was made as it bothered me for years, but i've decided to release it to hopefully provide more accessible documentation for the curious!

(Note: The FLP has been updated to correct some instruments and such, so some instruments were unnecessary but i was too lazy to remove them lol)

NOTE:
- I used ReValver HP in this flp instead of HPSE, but if you have that one you can just replace it (they don't have any difference when loaded with the Shreddage presets, i checked)
- FLP now uses Kontakt 6, but just replace it to the version you have if you need to. Same goes if you use sforzando instead of Kontakt.
- and if you replace the drums with a different version of Kontakt make sure "Round robin" is turned off. It's what gives the samples variety. (Thanks Adamant for pointing it out!) (If you use the modern free LABS version then i'm not sure how to limit sample variety there. Perhaps use a soundfont, or just keep it as it is it's not super important anyways i'm just rambling because i'm a weird perfectionist bluh)

sounds really good, i can hear a slight difference in between the original and this one, but it's really slim.

thank you!! while i may be a bit of a perfectionist i just wanted to make something that was good enough for curious people to know how it was made since smasholovania isn't as well documented as UT megalo.
i would've loved knowing how the UGK was made like 2 years ago, so i hope someone's life out there will be a bit easier ^^

@hydrosmusic yeah! though, even the original audio file i used to compare the flp with the original, which was a rip straight from the game, was still noticeably low quality. better than most yt uploads, but still pretty compressed.
@hydrosmusic so smasholovania is just compressed, obviously to save on resources for the switch as the game already has like a 1000 songs or something
and given that most likely nintendo fully or mostly owns this particular version through a contract of some kind, plus with nintendo not publishing their music in a convenient way... it's most likely we'll not get a higher quality version
unless, like, there's another giga-leak or something
i'm so happy to see recognition for the smash remix in modern day, it's possibly my favourite song, like, EVER. it still carries the weight of the impact of sans' smash reveal to this day... it just means *so* much to me. this recreation, although not perfect, still sounds really good! i love sans' expression change when heartache and bonetrousle play, that's a nice detail
definitely subscribing, can't wait to hear the planned updated version!

I wasn't expecting a shout-out here haha, the EQ tuning seems a lot nicer than my recreation gj.
(Although I did base mine off the actual Nintendo Switch rip with the grainy poor quailty, so the EQ was just something on master alongside a lower bitrate codec plug-in.)
Your mixing is really good but I think what you have to work on is the pitch on the mellow orch. kit and reverb/decay in some places, namely the piano. The violin transition into the solo sounds a bit off though, I remember spending DAYS messing with velocity, note lenghts and pitch on that section to make it sound good (iirc it's -30 cents throughout most of the song and like -10 in that one part i forgot tbh). The impact hits are a little too soft maybe eq their trebles up idk, that's just my advice :P
Glad to see another face hopping on the super-accurate megalovania recreations, I kinda stopped in 2021 and only picked it back up to make my tiktok video.

while this recreation is only from a few months ago i already consider it obsolete lol. me and a friend are working on a better recreation by cancelling the instruments this time (given that this rec was only done by ear) as well as using FL 20 because 21 has a different, inferior soundfont player (and also adjust the offset mixer milliseconds to actually get instruments to cancel [and turning on reverse polarity lol])
hell, didn't even realize until recently that to get the fucked up OD sound i just... had to adjust the export settings instead of spending hours on the EQ
but, your info is still really useful regardless!! we're for sure gonna use that as ref, tysm!
and thank you for your own recreation, genuinely helped me alot back then even if it was only a visualizer lol

I haven't really seen people nail the SSBU Megalovania yet, I got the notes, pitches and overall instruments right but I'm not the beeeeeest at EQing so it's not perfect. I never rly tried noise cancelling recreations, only AI isolating individual tracks and using them as ref, hope that goes well for you!
im pretty sure round robins for the drums in this version is turned off. nice attempt tho not everyone can nail that orchestra part

also, i'm _pretty_ sure rn that the OD instrument in the 'Drop' score lacks the normal lead melody mixed in
(as in: normal melody starts with "D D D[high], A" and the drop lead has "D D F, E".) The UT version has both melodies so i don't know why i thought this version wouldn't have it)

just updated the flp to accommodate for these things + tweaking of some EQs. no idea how i didn't notice there wasn't any variety in the samples of the drums in the original lol

Isn't this megalo rendered in sinc quality? the overdriven gets cleaner and it becomes more blocky.
@Redira01288 yep, this video is quite outdated compared to the knowledge now. i'm working with a friend to make a more accurate version, but we're mainly spending our time getting UT megalo 100% accurate first
