I'm 5'9" 205 pounds. I've been in 2 real street fights, one was against a 6'4" 240 pounds, the other a 5'6" 150 pounds. The funny thing is I found the short guy to be more difficult because of his blinding speed. The big guy had more reach and was stronger than me.
Urketadic I'm 5'11 barefoot myself, and most people think I'm taller, this is because of many 5'9-5'10 guys claiming to be 6 foot tall. Lot of men lie about their height, especially the ones right below 6 feet. This is why you though this guy was taller, your idea of 5'11 is like 5'9, because of all the guys lying. I remember one guy claiming to be 6 feet, and he was shorter than me lol, I said i'm 5'11, he would be like no way dude u must be like 6'1 lmao
FSUfanatic11 in your case is ok, but i'm referring to guys who are 5'9 or 5'10 and claim 6 feet lol many 5'11 guys do too, I could if I wanted to and i'm sure many would believe me, but i'm too paranoid, what if i get called out by a legit 6 footer? lol
Great video as always, Nick. Bigger guys are always difficult to fight because of their height, weight and reach. Even when you do clinch and go for the hair/eyes/whatever, you gotta do it fast and not let them throw you down. That's their usual tactic in closer combat. Looking forward to more vids
Thanks Nick, great example video again! To me it seems like the more of an advantage someone has over you (size, weight, reach, power, speed, endurance, weapons, etc. ...), the more important it becomes to not let him increase his edge further. In this example the attacker is big and strong and has longer arms, and he can maximize this edge in small areas. Ideally the defender would want to escape since he's lighter and faster, which he can't do with obstacles right around him. F.e. the Klitschko brothers have a big edge over every other boxer in the ring because they cover so much ground with their mass and reach. In free space though this advantage would decrease considerably because their opponent can move or run away. They Klitschko's would then have to move around more which favors the person with better cardio and less body weight. I've seen fights like these where the smaller guy keeps moving around and the bigger guy can't keep up forever. Back to the example in the video. With walls around him Nick recommends moving in to eliminate the reach advantage. Body weight and power are still big factors though, so Nick is still at a great disadvantage and will certainly lose the fight the longer it goes on, especially because grappling is too exhausting for the smaller guy. Big guys handle resistence well, small guys don't - and it's exactly the other way around with low resistence. I'm not sure if Nick has effectively increased his chances at all. He can't overcome enough of his disadvantages, so he has to resort to "cheap tactics" like hair pulling and attacking the groin area. I think that's the right way to start fighting back, but it's still an uneven playing field, so we have to increase our edge by being more experienced in using "cheap tactics". I'm always thankful for your advice Nick. Could you help us with some techniques we can use in a clinch against a big, strong guy who is going to overwhelm us? Or do you think there are other ways of reducing the attackers edge in this scenario?
Sorry, but I would never recommend that a smaller man initiate a grapple with a larger man. I'm heavier and stronger than most guys, and when I spar against a smaller opponent, I have a distinct advantage when I'm in-fighting and grappling. Once there is a tie up, the larger opponent has a huge advantage. As the larger opponent, I intentionally exploit this. I would love it if the smaller guy initiates the grapple instead of relying on his superior speed and mobility to strike from the outside.
C0de46 Yep, go on the attack, don't let up.Aggression, speed and keeping your assailant off balance with the violence of your attack is the way to go in any fight.Never let someone, especially a bigger guy, grab you, pin you against a wall, or take you to the ground. And you can't get into a fight and expect not to get hit.Anyone is capable of knocking you out, this chance increases if the guy is twice your size.My best piece of advice against monster guys(I'm 5'9") is a stomp or sharp kick to his knee cap, gouge his eyes, bite his ear or nose, hit his throat, whatever opportunity presents it's self.Whoever you are fighting, don't hesitate or let up.I've seen quite a few guys have their asses whipped doing that.
+Kenny Purnomo I will paraphrase what a well known sensei once said: "Normal people are cowards by nature (self preservation). The difference between reacting couragely or cowardly is a 1 second decision." Of course, MA or street fighting experience also helps ;)
Same concept as Jiu Jitsu. Close the distance and gracefully get on the ground. Since he's bigger, it will be easy to let him gas out trying to pounce on top of you and get position while you relax being on your back, keeping his arms locked in so he can't punch. He'll eventually make a mistake to give you an opportunity to sweep him.
I've been fortunate to have not had to use violence a whole lot so this is I guess a newbie question. can this sort of mindset be used for someone with a superior reach? the tall lanky sort of dude if that makes any sense. thanks!
Wow. Great channel man. Really. I'm glad to see a channel that actually shows some force and, especially disparity of force between opponents as opposed to slow-mo unrealistic tricks that belong in a dojo. If you want to teach real scenario self defence, you cannot eliminate ALL the elements of an actual attack (i.e. resisting opponent, size, reach, violence, persistence, push/pull etc.). I think you do this quite well and your channel kicks ass! Just a thought that I have been using... In stead of focusing on the ADVANTAGES your opponent has if they are bigger, stronger, taller etc., rather focus on the advantages you have with a shorter reach, lighter bodyweight, shorter length etc. Mike Tyson is a perfect example. Most of his fights, his opponent had a longer reach and was taller than him and he knocked them the F out regardless of size/strength/height. The mentality change of playing to the advantages of being outsized makes a hell of a difference in a fight. Also, there are few things as satisfying as dropping a larger opponent. They all cry like little bitches once they hit the ground regardless of how tough the big guy talks.
Thats why you slip, and land your punch in the jaw. It doesn't matter how big he is, if you land a solid hand in the button he's going down. You can land a nice headbutt on the chin from that angle as well. Try to hurt him as fast as possible, I wouldn't suggest wrestling if he has a weight advantage.
i'm a 5'7" peaceful guy , of course i train boxing and jiu jitsu ...and what i have learned about tall guys is two things : first ; their ego is high , they always underestimate short guys second ; to me is easier to go for a double leg against a tall guy rather than a short guy or a guy my height , in training guys who are like 6'0" to 6'2" they fall by the double leg or single leg ...
+MetalThunderForce Wrong. You're one of them mma idiots, aren't you? You think your system works on the streets???? LOL. Grappling is one of the WORST systems for the streets! Do you really want to roll around on the HARD CONCRETE, in the snow, rain, or in the cold?? He'll stomp you before you can even do that.
+mightymeatmonsta well , to start i'm not mma idiot , second of course i wont grapple on the streets although there's some jiu jitsu which works on the streets pretty well , i train boxing too and i combine it with jiu jitsu ...and in a street fight anything is allowed such as hair pulling and biteing the street is not a tournament and trust me , i am really aware of that ...
Boxing??? Really?? And you think that fucking crappy BOXING will help you on the streets against trained fighters or killers? Same goes with jiu jitsu. It is nothing but CRAP for the streets. While you are on top of somebody, or on the bottom, the persons FRIENDS will be KICKING THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOU! Well apparently it hasn't sunk in because you STILL do that crappy boxing and jiu jitsu! If you were REALLY aware, you would DUMP that crap and take a REAL self defense system, not some fucking JOKE for the streets, like boxing and jiu jitsu. Ask ANY self defense EXPERT, and they will tell you that boxing, jiu jitsu (the absolute WORST for the streets), karate, muay thai, tkd, and ANY sports applications just don't cut it in the streets because it is incomplete.
+mightymeatmonsta Crappy boxing? You ever stepped in a boxing ring or engaged anybody on the street? Boxers happen to be one of the toughest breed out there whether in the ring or on the street. Combine that with Jiu jitsu and you have a potent force to confront most people.
+mightymeatmonsta well , you know the saying ; is better knowing and dont have to use it than have to use it and dont know it , but yeah i like the way you think cause guys like you are the ones who end up knocked out by a boxer or choked out by a jiu jitsu guy ....if you think doesnt work just watch the videos of how real boxers and jiu jitsu guya have succesfully defended...but do whatever you want , i train hard everyday and i guess you're just a talker ....
Very good... liked and subbed... Here's my 2 cents: Eye gouging, throat punching, palm heel strikes to the nose followed by face claw rake, knees to groin , headbutt to the face, etc.. Fighting dirty is easy when you just focus on those hot spot targets, and they are the easiest targets to hit... they present themselves in every situation.... how many times have you seen a really bad ass UFC fighter take one to the groin, or accidental eye poke, then, in agony, have to take a 5 minute break... nobody can handle strikes to those extremely susceptible and vulnerable targets. I don't care how big they are.... and finally, good defense is not to get into a fight with a much bigger person anyway.. or anyone for that matter...learn conflict resolutions skills, verbal jujitsu ...
CYBOPOD That's why groin and eye pokes are not allowed in a cage fight setting. Have u noticed that the illegal techniques in the cage are usually the most effective ones to win a fight?😉
I didn't realize how size matter in a fight until I clenched a 5'8 130 pounder who trained a lot of martial arts including Muay Thai and Taekwondo. I was 5'9 160lbs (at best) with zero martial arts background and his kicks and knees were brutal so I got some bruise in my leg and rips. But once I grabbed him, I literally controlled his entire body like a doll filled with cotton (lifting him very easily and slamming him into the ground) I'm a small guy so I could imagine that some 190 pounder would do the same to me.
i love your videos brother..keep them coming. but i must say with an attacker of that size you should never play the grab game . i am not a fighter but it just feels like it makes sense. again ...good work.
+David luis Yes, that is certainly a good way to do it. It's like chopping down a tree, you start with the trunk. If you knee-cap him, he won't be fighting for long.
+AL- Mansi you can easily play the grab game if your BJJ is on point. When I first started BJJ a 5'4" Asian blue belt used my weight against me, I'm 5'11 190lbs this guy had to have been 140 if not lighter. He wrecked me every time.
+AL- Mansi agree with not to play the grab game, but if your opponet closes the gap then your only way out is to know how to grab him, so in this case and as a last resource I definitely would go for his throat but also might kill him
+Jose Sanchez oh how the internet tough guys come out when they watch videos - "but i also might kill him" hahaha funniest comment Ive seen all week. youtube is such a fun place - where guys get to try to show how tough they arent in real life, and idiots get to post videos that have very little actual truth to them. this vido is like the comments - made by idiots who know nothing about real world application. i see a guy that big who cant throw a punch like this moose guy...i see slow, no technique and so many open targets that will expose him for the slow wild punching guy he is. Bigger they are the harder they will fall
Was in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, First Marines. Have used this technique first hand. Not necessarily by someone this large but by a guy wearing some combat gear while wearing all 60 pounds of mine. Very good technique. Your videos are good can help non-fighters stay safe. Keep up the good work.
in my opinion the boneier the hand the Moore the hit is felt. some big guys got FAT hand and feels much more like an mma glove.. my dad's 6'3 and 180lbs. his punches hurt more then the fatter guys over 210.... what's with that?? I always underestimate myself until I get hit... what can I do to be more confudent. (I'm looking for advice so everything I've said I s true) I don't care if trolls believe me or not.
Trying to fight a very pissed off and determined attacker that's twice your size and you're going to lose because the one and only absolutely unbreakable law in the universe, physics, is well on their side
I fougth a big guy, 2+ meters and way over 100kg, when I was 16.He was very slow the only thing I'd recogment is not trying to face his full force and resist, but step out in a 45degree angle so you won't face the full force
How exactly do you teach self-defense? Because this video does not seem to know enough, I have much better ways to deal with such a situation than you have.
We have more videos that explain different self-defense tactics for different situations. You can certainly share your knowledge on self-defense. Your input is appreciated. Stay safe.
I have been practicing various martial arts for nearly twenty years and researching and developing street fighting tactics around five. I pass on my knowledge only to people I love and respect, but I tell you a few things. In this situation first forget the idea of deflecting fists as you move, your area is very small and your opponent's step is bigger than yours and you probably do not possess enough good legwork you just invite more punches not to mention that the first fist was right cross. Also, if you are testing a new tactic, check it with real speed and more defense equipment and if you still see that you have no choice and you have to wrestle with a bigger and stronger opponent then replace it quickly. If you want to keep a distance with basic footwork and blockages by elbows more recommended if you know what it is, the second option that I recommend is boxing techniques such as slip and hit and especially interception techniques. If you've heard about JKD, it's generally advisable to get a counterattack as quickly as possible Even if you document the simplest defense like closing the face with your hands.
Guys, he's giving tips, strategies and things to think about if ever in these situations. I am surprised at how so many people are bashing him for giving out strategies for defending yourself should you need it. There is no one technique that is "right" or 100% full proof. You never know what will happen, what/who you will be up against, who you will be trying to protect, what your own physical condition is, etc. You don't have 100% control over the situation, but you can at least learn something to be prepared. If you don't believe in his strategies, then that's cool. You may be better off learning something else you believe in. It's very easy to critique what he's doing and say "that doesn't work, because such n' such will happen". But can you honestly say you know the 100% full proof way to defend you and your girl/woman/wife against two attackers or to defend yourself against a guy much bigger than you? Who cares if he is 5'11 giving his thoughts on how to survive against a guy 6'6. He's simply trying to show people what may and may not work. It makes sense that trying to clinch and overpower a guy much bigger, heavier and stronger will drain your energy. He's ultimately suggesting that MAY not be your best bet and to consider this alternative. Not to say it will work every time, but you'd probably rather not be drained of energy against a bigger guy or risk being picked up and slammed right away if you can strike well. It doesn't always work a seamlessly as the movies. You need all of the strategy you can get. I don't think it's a bad thing to learn some down and dirty methods to street fighting. Not everyone is focused on being a martial arts master, but would like to have some tips on defending themselves.
Well I am learning an awful lot about the mentality of GUYS. Don't care what size, the bigger is better for me, guys my size are more alarming. Easier to fool and run from the big guys, not so much the guys with 'small Napolean attitudes'...big guys have it too easy, their big worry is actually hurting someone, grins. Make distance by running, duh but if that is impossible, I glue myself to them, even the wiry little guys! Can't hit hard enough to cause damage before I'd be able to cause damage. Getting punched is amazingly a game changer. I got punched in the face by a car and was literally 'dead' for 45 minutes. I've been thrown onto the concrete from 5' back of my head and was out again until the emergency room. But the guy who threw me down had the skin ripped off his back up to his shoulders. I was 8 years old, he was 14 or 15. He never bothered my little brother or sister's again, nor me. I've been punched in the stomach twice and hard. Extremely important lesson for me. There is no pain at all when in a fight but when you get hit by surprise there sure is as well as being completely incapacitated for a few minutes! Great lessons for me so I will always be avoiding a full on punch. Best way is belly to belly hugging to allow teeth closer to great soft spots and knees to other great soft spots. Shoot, I gave my 4th degree black belt instructor a black eye when she told me to be real (I was only red belt, like big deal). She was pissed. I was a novice out of control. This site is wonderful! More realistic. All those great moves by IP Man, Jackie, are just not going to be had or useful by novices probably even martial arts dudes below 3 rd degree black belt. Black belt is just the beginning, as much of a novice as all the colors below black. I'd like to see pitting a novice with some physical background, dance, athletics, sail boarding without any martial art experience, to show going through the thought process of defense in different circumstances; the grocery store, walking down main street, in a crowded pub, backpacking in the wilderness. Speaking of which, defense with cougar, bear, raccoons, mother moose, elk, wild pig. This would be fascinating and applicable as these creatures are far more foreign yet very familiar with certain types of humans!! Grins!
Well said, my self as a medium build ' Napoléon attitude' with the intelligence of seeking my opponent, defining their awesome skills and deflecting and countering getting black belts and prestige.... I leant all this before 26yr My first combative knife attack ...well I didn't have a knife, the guy I was facing had a knife blade drawn and he was being cocky as shit! he got me fore arm then being fancy and cocky he got my face and got me in the elbow 4x when I jabbed, he sliced me the fuck up, I backed out and the guy went phyco on me I yielded he kept going got me in the stomach/shoulder/ 3x times in the chest 3 in the spleen/rib/lung left side, then 5 in the right lung dropped me, I got saved by an 80yr old lady with a brick and no strength..... it makes you think....
You are correct on many fronts: 1) you can NOT afford to get hit by somebody like that or it will be lights out; 2) being light on your feet and keeping your extended arms in front of you to create as much distance between you and him are all absolutely crucial; 3) it's useless to merely defend against someone like that, you will eventually get exhausted and take a beating. So, if you can't get away and outrun him, then you MUST attack the first chance you get, and before getting too tired. The only question is what should be your best strike strategy? Well, the very last thing you want to do is hit him where it doesn't hurt and just pisses him off. My personal recommendation in a situation like this is a serious head butt to the chest area, followed by a head butt to the face as he bends over from the head butt to the chest and continued by whatever else that you can muster till he is completely out of commission.

I really enjoy your videos. I'm a black belt who is only 5'3" tall. I've been trained not under point sparring but rather very heavy sparring with BIG guys. 5'11" to 6'3". It's NOT easy. But being as small as I am, it's easier to dart in, out and side to side. However, it's really hard to hurt them, while at the same time it's hurting ME just to block them using soft blocks. Forget about hard blocks. My arms would break. But yeah, cardio goes super quick on me fighting these guys. Head butts, elbows, punches to the face are not an option for me. I always have to kick hard to the legs and punch to the torso. I've actually beaten some. But gloves off in a full out fight? It's very sketchy I could really hurt them unless I go thumbs to the eyes when their head is lowered.
Bad advice, you don't want to clinch a bigger and stronger opponent. Cardio and speed are your advantage so you stay on the outside and hopefully wear him down.
I'm 125 lbs and I'm 5'9 I've been in fights with my sociopath brother since I can remember. now I'm older and have let guys that big hit me 2x in a row with my hands behind my back. I KNEW he couldn't hurt me (Unless u luckily knocked me out which has yet to happen, accept for a car accident where I lost half my face. needless to say it the punch I LET THEM hit me with that gets me ready.... In your opinion xo you think they underestimated my ability to take hits, or maybe they though I was just crazy. idk.. I'm curious what you think went though their heads...
+TheMakfather never take a bigger guy to the ground his weight and height will over power you plus in street fights people will poke you eyes or call there buddy to kick you in the head
I know what youre trying to do, but remember that you werent even attempting to strike back, that makes a big difference even if the guy is way bigger. if you throw some solid strikes he is not going to be dominating.. or try this drill with your attacker being wayyyyy more aggresive. looked like he wasnt even trying
You're never supposed to clinch with a person who is a lot bigger and outweighs you. That's a easy way to get thrown down and not be able to get up with someone that big on you. Common sense nick drossos
I enjoyed the video. I think he's clinching and not attacking because the intent of the drill was to slip punches. Obviously that didn't work so he opted for clinch. But here's my question, wouldn't you not want to clinch a guy who is that much bigger than you? Ya it helps the drill, but in my opinion, should work slower and on how to slip punches more against such a taller opponent. Overall enjoyed the video!
And what do you do if the attacker are trying to kick you in the balls at the same time, that knee in the clinch would knock you outside universe in ballspain.
im 5' 9 i disabled a football player that was around this guys size if not bigger and defintely more athletic. its just all about technique, shoot for the double
I no this so mean and don't do unless you don't any other option this is to get away kick at the knee from the front or side when it full extended and make sure that he has most of his weight on it for the best shot
Heres my two cents. I am 6'4" and at my peak was 330lbs of solid mass. I worked security for clubs and recording studios. What I learned fighting small people is this: Let them come to me. I have all the stamina and power, height and weight, reach and patience. I'm not chasing you. Now, thats NOT to say Im slow. They used to call me the Giant Ninja because I moved pretty fast and quiet for such a large fellow. Do NOT fall for these "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" crap or "the bigger they are the slower they are". I cant tell you how many times some punk said that before meeting my fists, elbows, or kness. Thats right. KNEES. That was my secret weapon. They were always so focused up here where my fists were they always paid no attention to my size 13.5 feet or knees. Knees to groin or abdomen and my fists were .5 seconds away. I could bring my knees to most guys chest. Do you know what happens when I jump at you, my knee lands on your chest?? You CANNOT hold 330lbs up. You WILL go down, with all 330lbs on top of you. Know once I get you to the floor its over. Doesnt matter if I am on top or you are. I have a 23inch neck on top of a 56inch chest. You arent getting a good choke hold and you wont be able to wrap your arms around my chest. My biceps are 23 inches, and my forearms or bigger than most guys biceps. You WILL not prevail. Now, a kick to my groin would upset me, poke my eyes so I cant see, kick my shins so I cant advance, however you will not prevail. If youre under 5'11" and 170lbs and are facing an opponent whos over say 6'1" and 260lbs....RUN. 'Cause I aint chasing you.
Thank you very much for the feedback on this self defense video. You shared awesome information that can certainly be useful to many people. Take care and stay safe.
+Hussein Amra I was kidding with the crying and begging for mercy part :D But I'll be lucky if a guy that big just knocks me out. I'm sure one punch will kill me. How tall are you if you don't mind me asking?
+TheJonnJonnz if i ever face a guy that big no doubt Ill be using a weapon to even the odds, im only 6ft so if it really came down to a fight its kill or be killed
The bigger the opponent the weaker their knees. Just squirrel around enough to not get punched and strike a strong and firm kick to the inside or outside of their knee... and if he is hurt, go for the kill... if not.... run Forest!!! RUN!!! :) (Great videos CodeRedDefense!)
Not to condescend but this drill makes little sense from the beginning. You will rarely be in a combat sport giving up 130 lbs. and 7" in height. In the street you would rarely be precluded from moving outside of that area and would never employ defense without offense. Kicks from the ouside would be great. Knees and elbows from the clinch would also be effective. You were definitely not breathing properly either which is huge in any combat situation.

be born with the right genes (height, muscle, bones) lol
+Aizen or you can eat a devil fruit
+Mugiwara wrong show. or you can have a bankai*
+Anmolorb lol
Anmolorb hh, nah you just need haki
+Mugiwara actually going super saiyan is better.
the big guy would have knocked him out in seconds if this shit was real
+manicbassa no?
+Jonas Iversen This always comes from a small guy... So biased
"Precision beats power, and timing beats speed"
It's nt a Big Guy size if U'r Jab strong thn tht Big Guy will Knock Off
+Jonas Iversen It's red panty night lol
Dang, that guy's a monster...I'm 6' 4" and hover around 230, but he even makes me look small.
+TheCrushmaster right...knife edge.
I'm 5'9" 205 pounds. I've been in 2 real street fights, one was against a 6'4" 240 pounds, the other a 5'6" 150 pounds. The funny thing is I found the short guy to be more difficult because of his blinding speed. The big guy had more reach and was stronger than me.
how did we get from mister miyagi to this?
You are 5'11? You look much taller. I thought you are 6'2.
I remember one guy claiming to be 6 feet, and he was shorter than me lol, I said i'm 5'11, he would be like no way dude u must be like 6'1 lmao
ellocogos so, probably hes 5.10 !
Aizen I am 5'11 and 3/4 so there is no way I am not going to say I am 6 feet
FSUfanatic11 in your case is ok, but i'm referring to guys who are 5'9 or 5'10 and claim 6 feet lol many 5'11 guys do too, I could if I wanted to and i'm sure many would believe me, but i'm too paranoid, what if i get called out by a legit 6 footer? lol
+FSUfanatic11 I'm 6'2 3/4 and say I'm 6'3" lol
Great video as always, Nick. Bigger guys are always difficult to fight because of their height, weight and reach. Even when you do clinch and go for the hair/eyes/whatever, you gotta do it fast and not let them throw you down. That's their usual tactic in closer combat.
Looking forward to more vids
+Radika Yeah, you basically have to out-strike them and if you do grapple with them you better have the strength and the techniques to take them down.
2:46 warrrrrrrrrrrra do
After they sit on you and break your head, you will have no fear about them.
I've been watching your videos for almost an hour. Nice to watch someone that knows what they are doing...Thanks for sharing...
+return2wuji Thanks for watching the Code Red Defense videos...It's much appreciated. Stay safe
+CodeRedDefense.com when you go for security training do they use guys like you for the defense training?
+return2wuji he knows next to nothing about self defense. I honestly thought this was a joke
Does this work against a 6 foot 5" attacker aswell?
Great vid nick ive done lots of drills like this its good to do but carefully and loving the new vids great job guys
to win vs a bigger person (kick knee in )
In this situation you would definitely need to strike fast and with power. You need to use brutality like knees, headbutts and elbows.
When you push his arms down what stops him getting under hooks in and taking you down with relative ease?
so what after you clinge?
how to get rid of your fright? How if they yelled or screamed to you? thx
+Kenny Purnomo I will paraphrase what a well known sensei once said: "Normal people are cowards by nature (self preservation). The difference between reacting couragely or cowardly is a 1 second decision." Of course, MA or street fighting experience also helps ;)
how do u defend yourself with a backpack on? sometimes u don't have time to take it off.
Great videos. Movement is key. Creating a "box" around your head is key to avoid taking a KO blow. awesome stuff
Same concept as Jiu Jitsu. Close the distance and gracefully get on the ground. Since he's bigger, it will be easy to let him gas out trying to pounce on top of you and get position while you relax being on your back, keeping his arms locked in so he can't punch. He'll eventually make a mistake to give you an opportunity to sweep him.
why no more kicks?
Thank you for the feedback and support, it's appreciated. Great comment ;)
I have taken down men one and a half times my weight but almost lost against a smaller guy its nothing to do with size but its whats in your heart.
Great comment! Thanks Ronald for sharing your thoughts on this video. Stay safe.
thanks c r d.
In alot of your othrr videos u say not to clinch or let a BIG guy grab u ?
This video assumes, you're not flying backwards from the impact of the blows.
Thats why you slip, and land your punch in the jaw. It doesn't matter how big he is, if you land a solid hand in the button he's going down. You can land a nice headbutt on the chin from that angle as well. Try to hurt him as fast as possible, I wouldn't suggest wrestling if he has a weight advantage.
i'm a 5'7" peaceful guy , of course i train boxing and jiu jitsu ...and what i have learned about tall guys is two things :
first ; their ego is high , they always underestimate short guys
second ; to me is easier to go for a double leg against a tall guy rather than a short guy or a guy my height , in training guys who are like 6'0" to 6'2" they fall by the double leg or single leg ...
Have u noticed that the illegal techniques in the cage are usually the most effective ones to win a fight?😉
if.. just if.. that tall guy clinches you and use his knees to hit your stomach, what would u do
So you basically said nothing but just try a bunch of stuff and try not to get hit or push against the wall?
300lbs
Jesus, that's power
But he's fucked once the small guy comes close.
Reptilian alien do you think a 6'6" +300lbs monster will be fucked up by someone smaller in a real fight? Not very likely to happen
But once I grabbed him, I literally controlled his entire body like a doll filled with cotton (lifting him very easily and slamming him into the ground)
I'm a small guy so I could imagine that some 190 pounder would do the same to me.
what if the guy is 6"6 muscular build about 25 and you're 5"6 avg build? this old dude really tried to fight me.
This happened alot when i pick mike tyson in fight night champion
i love your videos brother..keep them coming. but i must say with an attacker of that size you should never play the grab game . i am not a fighter but it just feels like it makes sense. again ...good work.
+AL- Mansi Thanks Al...stay safe!
Bigger they are the harder they will fall
your cardio wasn't the issue, you freaked out and stopped breathing.
I have to get this hour video. would be a must see.
Yes, Its certainly a very effective self defense video. Take care
in my opinion the boneier the hand the Moore the hit is felt. some big guys got FAT hand and feels much more like an mma glove..
my dad's 6'3 and 180lbs. his punches hurt more then the fatter guys over 210.... what's with that??
I always underestimate myself until I get hit... what can I do to be more confudent. (I'm looking for advice so everything I've said I s true) I don't care if trolls believe me or not.
also of course I didn't finish the fight. they all got broke up after 5 min or so.
Why not just defend from the outside (your opponent's blindside) in either direction and then try to counter from there?
Trying to fight a very pissed off and determined attacker that's twice your size and you're going to lose because the one and only absolutely unbreakable law in the universe, physics, is well on their side
I fougth a big guy, 2+ meters and way over 100kg, when I was 16.He was very slow the only thing I'd recogment is not trying to face his full force and resist, but step out in a 45degree angle so you won't face the full force
+Floris van Lingen Great tip...thanks for sharing your thoughts. Stay safe
If you've heard about JKD, it's generally advisable to get a counterattack as quickly as possible Even if you document the simplest defense like closing the face with your hands.
yes very important to get in as quickly as you can.
Suggest lots of low kicks ,then maybe an eye strike ,then run.
Nice job, good advice. Just surprised at how tired you got so fast Nick. That shouldn't happen. You know better.
OH and by the way i neglected to mention i lost mt right arm many years ago and would be interested in some purely one arm defence
Don't you think that sparring on concrete isn't safe? If you get knocked out you could hit the stone with your head.
Maybe if Moose were in shape this would be impressive
Grins!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts... take care
You are correct. Whoopdeedo.
Well said, my self as a medium build ' Napoléon attitude' with the intelligence of seeking my opponent, defining their awesome skills and deflecting and countering getting black belts and prestige.... I leant all this before 26yr
My first combative knife attack ...well I didn't have a knife, the guy I was facing had a knife blade drawn and he was being cocky as shit! he got me fore arm then being fancy and cocky he got my face and got me in the elbow 4x when I jabbed, he sliced me the fuck up, I backed out and the guy went phyco on me I yielded he kept going got me in the stomach/shoulder/ 3x times in the chest 3 in the spleen/rib/lung left side, then 5 in the right lung dropped me, I got saved by an 80yr old lady with a brick and no strength..... it makes you think....
By the way, I am a leeeetle, petite but gnarly WOEMAN!! And now I am older than any of you. Grins!
I LOVE YOU, JOE!! Big huggs! Definitely in the NEXT life!!!
Great exercise< Thank You>
what about when u don't get such an open space..like in train or bus
That's pretty realistic. Realistic, as in a scenario would likely unfold like the way Nick Drossos illustrated.
Thanks for your comment. Stay safe.
Great comment... Thanks for sharing your point of view on this topic of self defense. To answer your question, you can learn the top 5 most devastating strikes by subscribing to our newsletter here: www.codereddefense.com/newsletter Thanks for watching and stay safe.
Clinch him? You serious? What if he takes you to the ground sits on you and rearranges your face?
if he had more space, the big guy would get tired moving around
It's very sketchy I could really hurt them unless I go thumbs to the eyes when their head is lowered.
i'm 5"5" should i run away?
Imagine the big guy doesn't wear gloves, he will throw you down like a frog
need to find somebody with a huge reach at 6,6 and spar with as most boxers in heavyweight these days are at least 6 foot 5 and 7 foot 11 reach.
Bad advice, you don't want to clinch a bigger and stronger opponent. Cardio and speed are your advantage so you stay on the outside and hopefully wear him down.
I'm 125 lbs and I'm 5'9
I've been in fights with my sociopath brother since I can remember. now I'm older and have let guys that big hit me 2x in a row with my hands behind my back.
Laying off the smokes will help win also
you could of ran towards the brick wall and with one leg climb it and with the other leg a flying kick.
I don't know about you but the last thing I'm worrying about is a punch from this guy, I'd want to keep my distance and play the stand up game.
This is gonna make me stronger and i shall watch your vids more so i can get revenge
Glad to hear that the videos are making you stronger. All the best to you!
GREAT VIDEO ,but can you do a video where someone is really throwing punches, so as not to look so WWF
Vital areas are prime targets against a large attacker too. Especially for women in that type of situation.
go for a single and take it to the ground... make sure he won't be on the top... the other options are: 1- carry an AK. 2- run and don't look back
+TheMakfather never take a bigger guy to the ground his weight and height will over power you plus in street fights people will poke you eyes or call there buddy to kick you in the head
+TheMakfather Another idiot. No, you don't want to go to the ground. It is the worst place to be in a real fight.
Don't you mean your two daddies?
+mightymeatmonsta well I didn't want to mention ur other mom but now u made me!
I only have one mom, but you have TWO dads and one TURKEY BASTER! That's how you were born!
I'm not allowed to step outside of the line.
Me: But what if your knocked out body lands outside the line?
I know what youre trying to do, but remember that you werent even attempting to strike back, that makes a big difference even if the guy is way bigger. if you throw some solid strikes he is not going to be dominating.. or try this drill with your attacker being wayyyyy more aggresive. looked like he wasnt even trying
People always assume being short means you can't fight and take down a taller person. That's not true!!
Where are all my short people at!??
Hey Salim, great point... You are right about that. Here's a related video: ua-cam.com/video/VYsJ0q-hSxg/v-deo.html Cheers.
Punch @ 2:23 would've been devastating. Definitely would have to tangle a guy that big up in that little space.
What's worse than trying to box someone a lot bigger and stronger than you? Trying to grapple them haha.
you teach others how not to panic and fear being punched.. and then you panic during this drill and get out of breath.. it's a bit weird to me.
No get, ehh, the knocked out.
something is wrong with your height measurements, there is no way you are 5'11 and he is 6'6 and you have that little a difference between you.
It looks like it would just be easier to run away. He's not catching you.
You're never supposed to clinch with a person who is a lot bigger and outweighs you. That's a easy way to get thrown down and not be able to get up with someone that big on you. Common sense nick drossos
Good camera trick, but you're not that much shorter than him.
I thought getting tight and close with a big guy is a really bad thing.
moose was having a great time there!
Yes he sure was ;)
I enjoyed the video.
If it's in the nose or eye that's a different story. You'll never get use to it
3:01 hair pulling to let go, nice fighting technique!
Quinn, it's all good until you get popped in that big face of yours. No one is unbeatable.
If you're afraid to get hit then learn to live a less aggressive life.
Yes indeed, great point Kelven. Thanks for watching and stay safe.
I think i'll just run if the opportunity presents itself ... if there's nowhere to run ... i'll cry and beg for mercy instead.
+TheJonnJonnz rather get knocked out than doing that...
Hussein Amra Oh you've got better chances than me then. I'm a lot smaller.
I don't mess with people that are 5"+
Not to condescend but this drill makes little sense from the beginning. You will rarely be in a combat sport giving up 130 lbs. and 7" in height. In the street you would rarely be precluded from moving outside of that area and would never employ defense without offense. Kicks from the ouside would be great. Knees and elbows from the clinch would also be effective. You were definitely not breathing properly either which is huge in any combat situation.
aah where in the clip you defeated the large attacker..not joking.
