Thank you for checking this out. Yes, you have heard this before. It is one of the most covered songs of all time. It was released in 1967 by Procol Harum, a mixed American/British band. Gary Brooker co-wrote the song with Matthew Fisher and Keith Reid. It has regularly made lists of the greatest rock songs of all time (It's easily in my top 10). Imagine how it would feel to have your hit song performed some 40 years later by the national symphony orchestra of another country. This is my favorite rendition.
Procul Harum is a group from the 60s. Gary Brooker was the frontman.
Gary Brooker had the most beautiful voice. He is an icon! Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago. Love your reaction!

This band was on the radio in the 60/70's and does have a video you should look up. This version is when they are very old, but still sound good.
I know the song inside and out from a child’s perspective. So I know the lyrics wrong but still love the song now.
Promoter, Guy Stevens, came up with the group's name Procol Harum, a mis-spelling of the Latin phrase Procul Harun (roughly meaning “far beyond these things”),
