- Tamraght, Morocco, according to comments after the last barbershop video from Souk Al Had Agadir the younger barbers are better than the old school ones. We tested out a twenty year old barber here in Tamraght to check out his skills with a straight razor.
Compared to the Agadir souk experience, today was much gentler. More powder, more time, more care, and it was much appreciated. I gave him 50 dirham for his efforts, it was much appreciated! The alcohol at the end burns, no matter what!

Yeah, I am even looking forward to doing some dental work over there because in US in cost a small fortune. Once a vaccine is developed and borders are open, Morocco is on my list to visit. I even have a lady in Agadir Who is in love with me. Things couldn't be better if I had to design my future. Be safe man.
Funnily enough, I had almost the opposite experience in Marrakech. An older barber wouldn't let me leave his shop until he checked me over after his younger colleague worked on my face. The older guy wasn't happy with the result and wanted to add some improvements.

I'll tell you something about barbers in Morocco, there's 3 kinds , the first are the old ones that all there clients are old , then the young ones (like the one in the video) Wich have a younger clients , and the 3rd ones are the VIP Wich are super professional and super expensive, Wich means that young people prefer young barbers and old people prefer old barbers due to many reasons besides the shaving and stuff

They are not expensive a sahbi, the prices go from 50 to 150 dhs max, which is way less expensive than an average barber in Europe or US/Canada
Great post man. Funny how i'm a Moroccan American from Roscoe Village, commenting on the adventures of a Chicago guy in Morocco.
But yeah, I can confirm that when in Morocco, two professions stand out above everything else, young neighborhood barbershops, and Coffee shops' servers, it is almost impossible to get bad service from any of those and it always feels like you want to give them more tips...
There is a reason why young barbers like your host here are good at what they do, without going into a lot of details, almost all these youngsters will do a few years of specialty school (Hair Styling), where they do some serious field training, they volunteer in rural areas to give poor kids free haircuts, a win-win situation, that way they get extremely familiar with different hair types very quick, and as you probably noticed, some Moroccans have silky hair while others can grow great Afros, so barbers need to be able to accommodate all.

Hahaha well done by the younger barber, now you have a clean face :D . But something to say, the old school barber isn't used to be filmed while working, so it added a bit of stress, instead of young barber, he grew up with smartphones and taking selfies/videos everywhere in every situation

My best friend in Morocco he's a barber I use to spend a lot of time with him in his shop and you can hear all kind of stories better then watching the news and I remember one day he was there and the new kid working with him shaved my beard or was a massacre blood all over it was a bad experience hhhhh

You and I have a closely similar skin type. I always get razor cuts. It varies from a barber to an other. But I rarely get a shave without getting cut. This guy did an awesome job actually . bessaha bro :)
