Great work on both of them!
Funny that you post this now haha, about a week ago I revisited this model and did a 3x3 tessellation with a 12x12 grid for each (A 36x36 grid in total). It looks great but like you mentioned it doesn't open very well, especially when I hold 2 diagonally opposite flashers like you did, the other corner flashers barely open at all. Not really sure how to fix this unfortunately, the flasher supreme has the funnest open/collapse pattern and should work better, I wonder how the tessellation can be improved.
