That's wild. We have a hand pump at our farm in TN and it comes out crystal clear. Then again the whole area is on an aquifer and we have hundreds of springs funneling into a creek on our property. With that and the abundance of game, we would be pretty good. Other people are the only thing I would be worried about

55 Dollars is a reasonable price, for that hose. I have to replace about 1 a year on my Compact Ford 1715, which is 26 years old. Usually a lot quicker to, having one made than trying to find one ready made, as you found out

We're in Central Texas and hoped for our well to be no more than 450 feet at $36 per foot. It ended up being 560 feet. OUCH!!!! It's painful to have to pay for now but, at 30-40 gallons per minute with a 1.5 hp pump, it's probably worth it. It also comes with a 40 gallon tank and a well house on a concrete slab. We bought our property in July of 2020 and still have a lot to do. Getting some great inspiration watching your videos.

Many Oreillys auto stores make hydraulic hoses. $5. a ft. in UT. Stay away from the dealers, they saw you coming. I bought the same Deep Rock well drilling setup 35 yrs ago when I was building my off grid home in W. WA. LOL, Surprised to see they are still selling that setup. Made it down 22 ft. before I hit a big rock. Burned up 2 $60 diamond impregnated drill bits before I gave up. Moved over 10 ft. and started over. Made it down 15 ft. before I hit another big rock. Hired a pro well driller and did it the right way......:) PS, I bought a 6 inch auger bit to dig fence post holes for the DR head. That works fine for that. 2,000 ft of fencing, ahhhh to be young again.....:)

HEY - Put a frame around the White PV Pipe - Make it pressure proof. Pump it full of air to 40 to 90 PSI.
QUICK Release of the pressure will drive your well into production. The first flow may be muddy but
after 2 or 3 days the flow maybe clear. TRY IT BEFORE YOU DRILL A WELL - You could save the cost.

Each time I replace a hose i add the protective kevlar woven shield . in our area we get good water at 60 feet and use screens but the ground water is so high that most locations can't have a full depth basement.

I found you because of your solar video. We were thinking of cutting the cord and going off grid like you but are not sure if all of our wood working tools will work as well as our home if we go only solar. We have our home, a detached garage that we would like to build cars in and then another detached building that's our wood shop. Our home was rotted and unfinished when we purchased the place and are rebuilding it from the foundation up with our own hands, without any hired labor and debt free like what your doing. Our well was installed in 1978 and still has the original equipment. We are starting to have issues with some of the electrical parts and would like to replace all the equipment in our well shed but don't know which brand of equipment to purchase. We live right next to a river. Are well is 135 feet deep and produces 87 gallons per minute of perfect drinking water and we don't need any filtering system or anything. We had the water tested and it's perfect as perfect can be. We must have tapped into an underground river. Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what you purchase for your well house equipment and why you chose that equipment over all the other brands available. It would be nice to know what the options are and what the difference is between them are. Made in America is the only brand I purchase and I respect you for doing that on your batteries.

I have a well that was dug down about four feet and then a twenty foot galvanized 1.5" pipe with a three foot point on the end is driven into the ground with a sledge hammer! There are actually two of them about a foot apart to service two houses!

$55 isn't bad for a hydraulic line. Most of what you are paying for is the fittings on the end. I pay a minimum of $50 for a custom made hydraulic line when a hydraulic line breaks on my backhoe. And it only takes a few min for them to make it as long as they have the fittings in stock. :)

Price for that hose made to order is about the same as it would cost here in the UK, more if you have to call them out to site to have it done, they know they have you by the short and curly's, and so they charge accordingly, it maybe interesting to check how much it would have cost you from the dealer, to give you an indication for the future, you might get a shock there too.
Hope you find water for the new well not to far down, good luck.

I don’t know if anyone else proposed this but that first well you dug could potentially be used to gather clay. Ms. Julie could then craft some clay crafts and sell them in the spring each year. Just a thought. You, of course would need a place to fire the crafts but that’s not too terribly difficult if you have the time and desire to learn to do it properly. Just a thought. Blessings to you all.

I did my well in garage, before anything, then dig all dirt, which was about 18 inches, then perfect gravel as deep as you want, so I’ve drilled 100 feet deep well, water is excellent, maybe first 5 minutes was dirty, then it cleared, and my well produces 20 gallons per minute, and so I did bought a commercial deep well pump that can pump 20 gallons per minute, and water line is 1”-1/4 all the way to water expansion tank, no reduction anywhere, right after expansion tank, it’s 1” going through 5 microns filter, and enters a cold/Hot water manifold, which branching out through the house, so I can turn on or off each faucet individually hot or cold. And my water pump is about 8 feet from the bottom of the well, but water column is 22 feet deep. And starts about 4 feet from ground level, all the way to the house, and to the first shut off ball valve, right before expansion tank, I have a heat tape, taped to the pipe, to keep water line from freezing, it’s 30Amp, 220V 9 Watt per foot, and it’s about 88 feet, connected through the electronic timer, programmed to turn on heat tape every 2 hours for 15 minutes, so far it’s being great, if water freezes, I can override timer, and run heat tape as long as I need, however, it’s a self regulating tape, since it’s also commercial, and high wattage, it can get 200F hot, so to prevent water from boiling in the pipe, when it’s get hot, it reduces power, and tape gets cooler. It’s also important to properly adjust air pressure in expansion tank before fill with water, on empty tank air pressure should be 2 PSI below ON setting: (example)
Your pressure switch is 20-40 PSI, 20 PSI is on, and 40 PSI is off, so expansion air pressure should be 18 PSI. If your pressure switch is 30-50 PSI, then air pressure should be 28 PSI, and if your pressure switch is 40-60 PSI, then air pressure in tank should be 38 PSI, but make sure on empty tank, with no water in it. That way you’ll have a good water pressure in the house, and your tank can last a lot longer, all though on 80 gallons expansion tank with 40-60 PSI switch, and pressure set 38 PSI, you won’t have a lot of water in tank, maybe 30 gallons or so, it will be at first welding band, and that’s how it should be.
