Brother I’ve been plodding through these folding outfeed table builds for seemingly EVER trying to find one that used gas struts like I plan on doing. THANK YOU! The hinge solution is what I’ve been looking for!
Wow! Well done. After watching probably 100 workbenches and out feed table builds on UA-cam. I can honestly say I like your designs a builds better than any other's that I have seen. Well done.
I really appreciated the additional effort you went to in demonstrating the gas strut, and explaining why it was necessary. Excellent work, and maybe I could suggest that for a future video you can have some Smiths / Lays chicken flavoured thins? Yours is the only channel on UA-cam where I have subscribed *and* hit the bell notification - subscribed to plenty, but I really want to see what you do next.
Very good indeed. I’m moving into a new workshop soon and am going to change from a fixed outfeed table to a folding one. Of course, every table saw has different features and mine doesn’t have that rear angle iron. However, that’s no big deal. The real win is your use of gas struts. That I will steal. Whenever we come back from NSW to UK, I bring back some timber. Last time, I bought a whole load from Boomerang in Mittagong and ended up paying a small fortune in extra suitcases to fit it all in. My suggestion for a snack is some water biscuits with gentleman’s relish.
Thanks heaps, my aim is to make a user friendly workshop, it took a while to think about how to add the struts, in the end it was very simple, enjoy and I hope it helps.
Always have a packet of chips in a box - safest place during this mouse plague, currently working on a mega pack of Twisties (washed down with occasional longneck). Nice work with the table, clever ideas and some neat ingenuity. Look forward to what you make and snack on next.
Just found your channel today and subscribed. You’re doing great work and I enjoy the humor too. Great design on this folding table with the gas struts, and the overtravel hinge, really great engineering. Keep up the great work!
Brilliant, going to modify slightly and use in my shop. I have been looking for a way to make my shop more user friendly and this will definitely help. New subscriber here. Thank you.
Nice job. I want to build a folding outfeed table. My issue is that I currently have a contractor saw. The motor sticks out in the back. I'll need a second to clear the motor, and then a hinged outfeed table.
@@eltonroberts8817 all good bro. My table measures 650mm x 1700mm long. The maximum I could get to fit my saw. Hope it helps, let us know how yours turns out, all the best.
Great video mate and loving the gas struts idea. Just curious to know the details of the struts you used? did you get them from your local Bunnings? Also if you can share the specs of what you used that will be super helpful :)
Hi champ. My table was made from I8 mm ply and pine to keep the weight down, measures 1500mm x 900mm. I used 2 Goliath gas struts 535mm x 200n . I tried above 200n and couldn't close the table, better to start with a light strut and just add more if needed. I tried 3 struts at one stage and it was just a bit heavy to close. hope this helps.
Hidden use- Build it then sit your kid on it as you did then say "perfect!.. should work just fine! Ok..you can get off now" You now have a perfectly behaving child for awhile at least albeit with a little psychological damage mind you. Lol..thanks for posting.nicely done and explained friend. Cheers from Canada
@@RJsShedShop Good job I have the same Sherwood 10in table saw love it. Boy you really need some type of dust collecting system. Recommend Sherwood 3HP collector I love it also

The use of a pivot block to extend the travel of the gas strut is brilliant! I’ll have to remember that trick.

Bloody great mate, how did you determine the gas struts required?
Thanks mate, I wanted the struts to at least make it to the centre of the table or beyond.

Hi RJ, perfect outfeed table. Well done. can you explain why you left a lip on one of your foldable pieces? was it to eliminate a gap when folded up?
Thanks bro. At first the lip was there to close the gap however in the end it got trimmed down to just about flush.
