Granted it's not a smart choice. But if she has the finances to ensure her kids can do the things they enjoy without the child support, then I don't think it's a massive issue. What I probably would do is have those payments put into a savings account for each of them would be the smart move.

And since she has so much money she can just slit the child support three ways and start an index investment fund for each child as a custoodial account. I am a woman and definitely a feminist (basically equal rights and equal pay for equal work), but at least one of those kids is going to wonder why Daddy doesn't even pay anything for them. She needs to get her head out of her azz and realize there is nothing special or strong about refusing child support. I think if I were the judge (which would never happen) I wouldn't even allow Op to refuse the support.

She doesn't need to say anything about how he broke his vows because they know already that he is behaving irresponsibly, and the reality is the kids don't usually care about what he does to you but rather how what he is doing is affecting THEM. You have to remember that their view of things is not an adult view, but a child's. But definite;y never lie to them. I have also found that you should resist the urge to bad mouth the other parent. If that parent is as bad as you say, it will become apparent to the children without you saying anything, even if he tries to bribe them with money and presents.

To be fair, he is a bad father; he only wanted custody out of spite, he denied that his girlfriend was abusing his children, drinking in front of them, missed visiting them, ignores them, he barely feeds them, went to a school event drunk, and tries to manipulate his own children to convince Op to get back together with him. He made the kids are so miserable that they basically cry when they talk about him or when they have to visit him, that’s a sign of a horrible father, a real father should never make their children miserable. I hate to say this, but they’re better off without him. If he wants to see his kids again, he needs to get shit together, get a job, go to therapy, get rehab, go to those supervised visits, treat his kids better, and accept that he and Op will never ever get back together.
