F**K that's right we have time travel at play here. I wonder how far back he went? Like how far is Andrew willing to go, and or what's the easiest point in time for him to plant a big old rock there? 🤔
i think the fact that the beans were edible and no one got food poisoning is reason enough to call this a success, given that it was their first - and most likely will be their only - attempt XD
@@Scars_Remind_Me a lot of raw beans are actually toxic, cooking them denatures the lectins and makes them edible. But also he threw, like, a pound of raw (what I'm assuming was) pork in there. Pretty possible to get food poisoning from undercooked pork.

This video broke me and is finally making me a comment leaver, but a few things for improvement. The hole needs to be bigger, larger coals are necessary underneath and on top of the pot and if you alternate foil and wet burlap it'll help keep moisture in the bean hole (regulating temps) and make a tighter seal in the bean pot.
"I got like a 20 minute break at the beginning of the day to take photos, and then I just din the thing everybody else did" "so that means, uhh..." transitions to Gavin digging(?) a hole
Watching this back and I DIED at that. It was such a tiny touch that definitely wasn’t intended when they were filming but Gavin caught it while editing and put that together. I love his sense of humor
15:15 loved that whole interaction. Gavin casually defending the aluminum foil and pointing out the dirt was likely warm from the sun and Eric just having to accept he’s making sense for once lmao
I've been waited so long for this. I love the shot of Henry on the doorstep staring in disgust at Geoff and the others eating something from the ground...
After listening to the podcast about this whole thing and then now watching it, I liked the bit where Gavin goes "you're ground's so much nicer then mine" Geoff stars digging.
I'll have to say my favourite thing about this video isn't about the quality of production or how entertaining it is. Mostly about how much happy Geoff seems. Been a while since I've watch and RT or RT affiliate content but this was wholesome to watch

If you do want to retry the bean hole, sifting your coals to get some of the ash out could get you a better cook. No guarantees that beans with onion and molasses will be super flavorful though :P
I can’t believe how many pre-existing bean hole videos exist on UA-cam. I was looking up to see if anyone made a compilation or clip of the guys explaining the bean hole process on the podcast, but instead see videos of other folks successfully doing bean holes. Might be worth looking up if y’all want to do some Bean Hole Redemption.
Me and my brother once had to dig a meter-deep hole for a mailbox. Our only tools were a long thin metal pole and garden shovels - not even a proper shovel. We had to lie on our bellies to reach all the way down to dig with the wee little garden shovels. Of course we encountered a big rock right in our path when we were just nearly deep enough. Then had to spend probably three hours slowly breaking it apart with that metal pole. So much soot and smoke. It was also raining the entire time. I'm really feeling the flashbacks; watching this.
One of the things I always think about with this is Geoff mentions loggers in northern america doing this, but people have been cooking things like this for thousands of years. One particualr one I always remember is that Romanies would cook hedgehogs in clay balls buried in ash so that the spines come off in the clay.
All these years and Geoff still won't use a pickaxe on stone
