Ive heard they cant put them back on air because they played so much music on the show that they dont hold rights to use now. This show would fit right into reruns like Magnum PI or CHiPs.
1,000,000 attempts to determine who was hotter came out inconclusive back in the mid 80's at MIT while testing a new super computer. It was decided that the actresses would have to provide a concrete answer once and for all via Jell-O Wrestling in an inflatable pool best two out of three falls. Neither actress replied to the scientists requests. All communications were sent registered mail and were definitely signed for.
Watch the one called i am woman. The one where the flynn building is a landmark. When bailey record mr carson when she laughs and exhale as she laughs, so adorable.
Les Nessman wears a bandage on some part of his body in almost every episode. Eventually, he reveals that he has a very large dog at home. In real life, Richard Sanders was injured before taping Pilot: Part 1 (1978), and had to wear a bandage on the air. He decided to make it Les' trademark. In some scenes, bulletin boards or wall spaces are plastered with bumper stickers for radio stations across the USA. They were sent by real-life radio DJs who were avid fans of the show. The character of Bailey Quarters was based on Hugh Wilson's wife. Wilson wrote the character to be shy and soft-spoken, but very articulate when she did speak, because his wife was the same way. The show was videotaped instead of filmed because the rights to rock songs were cheaper for a taped show than for a filmed show. The show was famous for playing music of up-and-coming bands. Many artists have said that their music being on the show helped their popularity, including Blondie, U2, The Cars, TOTO, The Knack, and Devo. Blondie was so grateful for the show making their song, "Heart of Glass," a hit that they gave their Gold Record to the producers. It's hanging in the WKRP bullpen in seasons 2 to 4.
One of the best programs ever made! I only saw it when it went into syndication because of the shift I worked but I loved it when I did get to view it and it still makes me laugh out loud now.
Such a great show. The pay-toilet confrontation between Herb (in the WKRP carp costume) and the WPIG mascot is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Johnny was an old ragged out dude himself. Now Venus, that would have been romantic as he knew how to romance a woman and he loved all women. Johnny saw them as trouble. Andy and Jennifer could share a hairdresser and maybe get a couples discount.
Just a quick comment, I've read several comment sections to video's about w. K. rp.....😉 and well not to many give Jennifer the credit she deserves, for playing her part to a tee...tee! And I mean her acting skills ,get your heads out of the gutters🤣 yes Bailey was fine whine of another distillers, brewery. 😊 ... Anyway give credit where credit is due, and do not disparage others nor yurseft.
While rewatching these episodes I love checking out the posters in the booth. So far, I've spotted two different U2 posters -- one for Boy and another for October. WKRP was truly ahead of its time.
Man, this show was so friggin' good. The characters were all played so well by everyone. I miss shows that had compelling stories and drama built on Norman Lear type writing on topical, human experience type things that taught us about different situations. Its so wholesome really lol
I've forgotten what a good show this was; and still is when watching them again. Dated just a little, maybe. But as comedies go, this is one of the better ones. Well acted by not straining for laughs. Letting situations unfold naturally tells me how much the writing & direction respected the viewing audience. Shows like this will always entertain us and not leave us feeling like we've wasted time.
I grew up watching this show. Loved every minute of it. One always ponders, Jennifer or Bailey? Bailey is the obvious answer of course. But is the real question Bailey or Mary Ann?
Look at those rotary phones !! Brings back so many memories about the 70s. Especially Loni Anderson's hairdo an Herb's suits with those huge lapels and collars. Venus Flytrap and Johnny Fever. 17:31
As originally filmed, and possibly only ever broadcast once, the show had lots of intro and outro mini scenes with the DJs spinning records. Apparently when they tried to put the show into syndication they had trouble identifying the artists and arranging the royalty payments, so they cut out a bunch of those bits. The videos in this collection appear to have been taped from those later cut-up rebroadcasts. The audience didn't much like that, and it wasn't popular and so it wasn't around long in syndication, either. I've been wondering if the royalty problem might be something that could be solved with the help of an AI like Shazam (now owned by Apple, which acquired it in 2018) to identify the music and artists.
The old joke was "Who would you rather be marooned on that desert island with Ginger or Maryann?" But for my friends and I who were becoming teens in the 80's the most important question in our tree-house built on the vacant lot was "Who would you rather be the last woman left alive on earth with you on "The Day After": Jennifer or Bailey?"
For the record Jeremy's solution of "Jeanie from "I dream of Jeanie" so you could use wishes to insure Jennifer, Bailey, and Jeanie all enjoy surviving with you as the only man and none of you get radiation sickness or turn into zombies" was considered the best possible outcome.
Samantha from "Bewitched" was at one point in consideration but since she would maintain her own free will and was not compelled to obey anyone's commands she was removed from contention early. Our consensus agreed at some point she tired of the first Darrin with the ears and used her magic to replace him with the taller, less whiny, less goofy looking Darrin which made most of us fear being replaced by Tom Sellick who was all of our Mothers new television hunk of choice.
I want to know how Tim Reid didn't have Denzell's carrier. That episode where he defused a gang fight by teaching a gangbanger about the atom and how all the parts worked by translating the science into an analogy the younger man could relate to was amazing. I honestly think he was too tall to keep in frame with most actresses at the time, They usually shot venus standing alone or sitting on a desk or chair if other actors were in the frame.
In 2024, $40,000 1982 USD would be equivalent to $138,746.31, a 246.9% increase. FYI, though inflation both worldwide and in the U.S. had been at a record high for the decade (though it was a much lower than it had been throughout the 1990s) it has decreased sharply, so much so that as of the end of October 2024, it had dropped to 1.5% for the year to date.
It's hilarious, but the ugly reality behind it is that Jennifer could demand Herb stop harassing her till she was blue in the face and he wouldn't, and sweet, kindly old Mr. Carlson wouldn't do a thing to intervene. So she'd either have to endure day after day of this guy's relentless pestering, or go work somewhere else where the same type of loser would do the same thing, and no one would stop them. This is why there are HR departments now.
Thanks for bringing back the WKRP episodes that I so loved to watch when they were still on TV.

Bailey was the real hottie in that show

I was just about to post exactly that. She was smokin'.
Yes she was and Marianne was hotter than Ginger, Janet was hotter than Chrissie and Velma blew Daphne out of the water 😂😂😂😂
Love the old gang from Wkrp.
I'm here for BAILEY. ❤
Watch the one called i am woman. The one where the flynn building is a landmark.

Bailey was the TRUE FOX of the show IMHO...

This show was legendary.
"With God as my Witness......I thought turkeys could fly."-Arthur Carlson november 23rd 1979.
If I were Johnny, I would’ve married Bailey. Jennifer was into old sugar daddy’s😅!
Johnny was an old ragged out dude himself. Now Venus, that would have been romantic as he knew how to romance a woman and he loved all women. Johnny saw them as trouble.

Jennifer was an escort
You know this was just a tee vee show right ? ha ha
I think Bailey look better than Jennifer
@@VolumedMusicMan it's just a tee vee show
I could listen to the Theme Song of this show over and over.
Me and my barber was just talking about that
this was a great show. much better than the dribble now. i had a thing for bailly and jeannie and mary ann and, and, and.
@@jayssounds i call it dribble.
Gosh, I had so many crushes in this show as a kid watching reruns 😅 I was a weird kid.
Remember when television was worth watching?

My all time favorite show. Frank Bonner and Richard Sanders were hysterical.

I was totally enamored with Bailey. Jennifer? Not so much.

I loved this show, I had the mad hots for Johnny Fever I so wanted to be a dj
Fantastic Cast!!
Boooogar! 🤣
Why do some of the scenes get cut short? That really pisses me off.

Herb, the walking harassment suit.
Not 1080p. Shot on videotape when the standard was 486i at best. Scaling it up does not increase resolution.
I'm surprised Herb didn't cause a car accident!
Tale of Jenny & Screech trilogy with Violet’s Tale next, then Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla.

Not sure who that beauty is talking to Les but she looks AMAZING. surely that isnt supposed to be his wife!

no such thing as 1080p WKRP, it was shot on tape, so 480 is all you will get out of it.
Broadcast television was simple-minded crap. WKRP doubly so !! Brain-rot
Yes--- because today's shows, are SO. MUCH better.
Harassment at its best. Why is Bailey wearing a man’s suit?
That look was really popular at the time (like Diane Keaton in “Annie Hall”).
I always thought Jennifer’s hair looked like a wig, totally fake looking. Bailey though, WOW!
